We drove to Todtnau to the Hasenhorn Coaster.
You pay 13 Euros for a ride up in the Ski Chairlift and then to drive yourself down the hill on the Rollercoaster.
I confess here, that I was not really in the mood for it. I don't like heights and I wasn't sure I wanted to be going on this so I decided to wait at the bottom and take photos.
CBC and WKWTTG set off in their chair lift
And waved me goodbye!
They phoned me when they reached the top to tell me I should come up as the views were really beautiful but I decided that it was too late and I would just wait so here are their views from the top.

I wonder what this is like in the Skiing season?

| It would have been nice to have walked down. |

| Nearer the town. |
As I waited, I had to crane my eyes to see if CBC and WKWTTG were coming down?
Finally, I recognised WKWTTG who waved obligingly to confirm identity!
CBC was rather more focused on his driving.
As they stepped out of their cars, they were euphoric and longed to do it again.
I was delighted to see a red squirrel bounding across the path.
We then left to drive to France for the next part of our holiday to the Vosges region.
As we drove,we stopped to look at this gorgeous, verdant view.
We planned to stop in the town of Freiburg for lunch on our way. This is a big University town which had many bikes around.
We found a tasty Mexican restaurant which had a 8,90 euro deal on Burritos.
We had a quick look around the town and it looked very pleasant.
It seemed to have a very efficient tram system.
And some interesting graffiti on hoardings.
There were some very pretty buildings.

As we drove down the Autobahn towards France, we were mesmerised by this very shiny and reflective petrol tanker which transfixed us with its views of the motorway flying behind it!
We reached our ecological campsite in Vangey in the Vosges region in France where we discovered we were the only campers and set up our tent, made a trip to the Super U supermarket and then cooked an epic pasta dinner on the trangea. (They made it, not me!)
Chopping lots of wonderful vegetables!
Cooking asparagus..
And finally, a very tasty dinner was served!
Very fluffy hair after some rain!
Bon appetit!
More about the delightful campsite itself tomorrow and my first day of 30 days Wild
Have you ever visited any of these places?
xx

oh my dear! What lovely scenery and fantastic photos. I love hearing about your camping trip and adventures! It's been along time since Ive been around. Its good to visit you again! I've missed you and your wonderful posts. Thank you for your recent visits <3 I do so appreciate them!
ReplyDeleteBlessing to you,

When we went to Lake Bled, there was a ride/toboggan run like that. I too stayed at the bottom, then decided to walk up to see the view. Spectacular! I love how you've been travelling <3 this is my kind of holiday, minus the camping maybe ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a great trip! I don't think I'm brave enough to camp as I go like you did, but it's so fun to read about your travel.
ReplyDeleteThat rollercoaster thing looks so fun! But scary too.
ReplyDeleteFreiburg is a gorgeous place, and they have a fantastic Christmas market :-D
I don't blame you for skipping that ride....the views are wonderful but if you don't like heights....I'm crazy for hights myself:) but I get that some people just don't feel comfortable hanging from a cable....in fact, it makes sense!
ReplyDeleteThat view when you drove is so pretty....I want to visit France some day! Do you have any other vacation plans? This Summer I will be working in a hotel where 95 % of guests are British, it would be great to have you guys there as well:) but I know you visited Croatia already so...fingers crossed for next Summer;)
I love the sound of that ride and the campsite sounds great!
ReplyDeleteDear Kezzie, just answering your question, I did, Titisee is really nice and Freiburg is great. I loved the two shops, I am-Christ :) The latter is a famous jewellery store there. Loved the story about the ride up there, the views were amazing, I didn't know you had some problems with height. Could have been nice going down on foot! I really loved the pictures!

Your trip sounds brilliant and you look very organised at the camp site. Such a pretty place to visit.
ReplyDeleteCannot decide if the boys were brave or crazy!! What a lovely place with plenty of interesting architecture. The lads did a great job cooking a nourishing and healthy meal, definitely not typical camper fayre!!

That view from the top is amazing. As for you wondering what it looks like in skiing season, I strongly suspect there is snow :)P And now you want to shove me down the mountain, don't you? Well ha ha, I am not found of heights either so no way I'm going up there! That tanker truck thing is so cool but I can imagine someone trying to do their hair in it as they drove.
ReplyDeleteThe Ski Chairlift looks scary, I would have skipped it too. Cooking while camping is so rewarding, I love it, but I love cooking. :))
ReplyDeleteThis looks like pretty much my ideal day - burritos, rollercoasters, beautiful architecture, shiny things, and a mountain of pasta!! xxx
ReplyDeleteI WANT to do that roller coaster thing big time!
ReplyDeleteI love it that the men were doing the cooking.
bisous

I haven't been to Germany in many years, but I think perhaps I did stop through Freiberg about 30 years ago. The ski lift reminds me of an amusement park I went to when the kids were little. It was at the top of a mountain here in North Carolina, and we rode up via the ski lift. But we certainly didn't come back down by way of roller coaster! Nice photos of that :)
ReplyDeleteReally looks lovely. Not sure if I would've tackled that 'rollercoaster' either.
ReplyDeleteYou hooked me with Freiburg in the title. We loved it there.
ReplyDeleteYour rollercoaster reminds me of the luge in Rotorua NZ. A big hit with our kids when we lived there. A great adrenalin rush and once is never enough!

The rollercoaster is a combination of wonderful and scary. I can see why the boys wanted to have a go.
ReplyDeleteThe shops next door to each other made me laugh!
Love the shiny tanker and the silhouette of the woman.

That roller coaster looks really scary and as I have vertigo nothing would tempt me to try it. The view is lovely though, and Freiburg seems to be a pretty town. xxx
