TARDIS Tuesday A Smile Promo mix?

Hi there,
It's the eve of going back to school! We had an INSET day today. I was doing online training which was painful as everything was so slow- they were all watching videos and everything was buffering so much so it took so long! But it was still lovely not to have to get the train in so I got a bit of a lie-in (got up at 8.15am) and then got to go to my local market at lunchtime (I rarely get to go as a Tuesday and I'm usually away. I bought vegetables without plastic, fish  and prawns without plastic, samosas olives without plastic (I provided all my own containers!) and then some other products from the 'close to the sell by date (which I now realise I AM MISSING something from! Where did it go???).

Anyway, I've given TARDIS Tuesday a miss for a few weeks mainly as I was away, didn't have time to think of anything and didn't quite get around to it.
So I'm back today with an outfit from 10th Doctor Companion, Bill Potts.
It was worn in promo photos for series 10 and features 2 outfits worn in episodes but not actually worn together in the actual episode:

I first wore this on the blog in June 2019 and then wore a variation on it in 2022 from the episode Smile.

As it was so sunny today, it was the perfect outfit for wearing at home:

And here I am:
The bodysuit and reversible jacket are both from Topshop, both purchased second hand years ago and very comfortable to wear. Are they are a weird combination?  Do they go?
I added this sari silk headband which I bought last year in Well-Next-To-The-Sea it sort of looks like Bill's now I compare it.
I also just added my Clarks Funny Dream shoes for the picture as I couldn't be bothered to search for trainers.

Hope all is well with you!

TARDIS Tuesday- Bill Potts outfit from Smile

Hi there,

Hope you are well.

Today, for TARDIS Tuesday, I am returning, for a second time in recent times, to an outfit worn by Bill Potts, companion to the 12th Doctor. As I mentioned 2 weeks ago, Bill Potts' style is quite different from my own regular style but I ended up obtaining one or two of her screen accurate pieces very cheaply so decided to give a few of her outfits a spin!

The outfit featured in her second episode which was entitled, Smile. In this episode, the Doctor and Bill ended up in a place that had robots that spoke with Emojis. They seemed oh-so-friendly at first, but only if you keep smiling!

Let's look at her outfit:

https://www.shopyourtv.com/doctor-who-season-10-episode-2-bills-striped-bodysuit/

It seemed a bright and happy outfit for what seemed a bright and happy place.
She began with a colour-blocked stripe bodysuit from Topshop. With it, she wore ripped skinny black jeans (poss.also Topshop).  Her feet featured mint green and white hightop trainers from Vans and she had a bleached colour denim jacket from Topshop (mainly tied around her waist).  For accessories, she wore a mustardy-patterned hairbow and a silver guitar necklace.

And over to my version of this outfit. I did a slight variation on this outfit (from promo photos but there are differences) but this is the first time I have put together this outfit

As you can see, I did find the screen accurate bodysuit.  When I was an early teenager (Maybe 12), I had a bodysuit. It came from a shop in Ilford called Bacon's.  It was a marled blue colour with fitted short sleeves. It was really uncomfortable- the bodysuit buttoning up bit. I thought I would wear another bodysuit again but this one is amazingly comfortable and I like the bodysuit buttoning up meaning the top stays where it should (with my pear-shape, often fitted tops end up riding up and sausaging around my smaller waist.
Ripped jeans or skinny jeans shall never grace this body so as usual, we have my black ASOS work trousers.  These are considerably more snug on me than when I first bought them which I am not happy about. I like these trousers and do not want to have to replace them!
Instead of Bill's mint trainers, I wore my black hightop Ash black trainers (Clara shoes).  I added my charity shopped denim jacket (bought for Yaz originally).
I wore a Black floral wired headband (as I LOST my mustard one out on a walk in Brightlingsea in 2020!) I could not locate my silver guitar necklace so I wore a red glittery star instead.

And that's that! Hope you have a good week. As I type this up on Sunday evening (11.30pm eek- better get to bed!!!!! Bang goes that early-to-bed resolution!), I wish you a peaceful week.

TARDIS Tuesday- Bill Potts pilot outfit with adapted version!

Hello!

I'm back from 9 days in France.  Today, I am sharing an outfit which was worn by 12th Doctor companion, Bill Potts, played by Pearl Mackie.  Pearl's style is not particularly mine but she had a couple of really cool garments that I ended up collecting.

Let's look at the outfit I am sharing today. It was worn by Bill in her very first episode.

She wears a stripy vest top from Urban outfitters along with blue jeans from Topshop with turned up ankles.  She wears black and white trainers.

In terms of accessories, she wears a black cord necklace, a blue crystal shard necklace and peace logo earrings.  You can also see a red hair bow too.
I last made a version of this outfit back in September 2020.

I've made some different choices today.

I started with the stripy vest top which I wore before.  It's a lovely light, woven fabric.  I teamed it with my ASOS blue jeans.  These are jeans I bought for one of my Clara cosplays but they work for this too.  I added a black belt from another dress.
In terms of shoes, I wore these white and black Toms shoes (bought for CBC some years ago but he doesn't like them)
I noticed that CBC's school satchel looked very similar to Bill's one so I added it to the picture.

Finally, in terms of jewellery, I forgot about earrings and couldn't find a suitable red hair bow but added my 1990's name necklace turned around along with a quartz crystal necklace I received in a blog swap.

Once I'd taken these photos, I realised that the jeans were just going to be too hot today so I substituted the trousers for some black linen cropped trousers and added a white broderie anglaise button up blouse to protect my arms from the sun when I walked to the charity shop/COOP/Shoe mender (yessss, a new one has opened in town!)

Much more Summer appropriate though this outfit woud work really well on a cooler day.

What do you think of either outfit?

TARDIS Tuesday- Missy

 Hello!

For TARDIS Tuesday, I am going to share an outfit inspiration and character that last featured on this blog back on my birthday cosplay party...but it wasn't worn by me!! It was worn by Fil and Sophie!  However, I did have an outfit inspired by Missy back in 2015.

Yes, the queen of mean is my inspiration for this week.

For anyone who doesn't know who I am talking about, The Master was a villain introduced to Doctor Who during Jon Pertwee's tenure of Doctor Who. He was a rival, renegade timelord and was the Moriarty to the Doctor's Sherlock.  He was played by the wonderful Roger Delgado.  He sadly died in an unexpected car accident whilst Pertwee was still the Doctor and the character was not seen for another few years until he turned up burned in The Deadly Assassin with Tom Baker. In the penultimate Tom Baker story, The Keeper of Traken, the wasted character from the Deadly Assassin took over the body of Tremas (anagram of Master!), a Traken man played by Anthony Ainley and he terrorized the Doctor through Peter Davidson's tenure. He disappeared again until the final 7th Doctor Story, Survival where he had become infected with The Cheetah People's something or other.  He then appeared in the 1996 movie played by Eric Roberts  He disappeared for another decade and turned up in David Tennant's era in the form of Derek Jacobi and then John Simm.  Finally, in Peter Capaldi's era, He became She and Michelle Gomez played the bonkers female version of him called Missy!

I'm using the Series 10 version of Missy whose hair is a bit more wild, less-Mary Poppinsesque and her outfit is darker but with Edwardian influences still strongly featuring.

In this version of Missy's outfit from Doctor Who series 10 (in which the Doctor is trying to redeem Missy, AKA, the Master, she wears a variation on her Mary Poppins-esque outfit.
A dark brown paisley blouse with rounded white collar and cuffs, a brown neck bow with red flowers and a dark purple full length skirt and black boots.

I saw an instagram cosplayer share a work in progress version of this Missy and thought to myself, "Hmmm, I could do a closet cosplay version of this without getting anything additional that might work quite well."

And here we go:

I'll start from the very begining, a very good place to start...
Wait, that's the Sound of Music, wrong Julie Andrews film.  Hold on, Mary Poppins isn't right either??? Ah, Michelle Gomez, Doctor Who!
I began with my white round-collared shirt from ASOS (which has featured in various cosplays including Romana and Yaz Khan).
Over the top of that, I layered my cappucino-coloured Boden shirt, bought originally, secondhand for my Clara Oswald 60's echo outfit. I tucked its own collar in.
Next, to emulate Missy's neck-tie, I added a black silk with red flowers scarf from Primark.

Yeah, Missy did a dab when she was pretending to be The Doctor in one episode.  This being the only time I would do one! The final two clothing elements were my 1970's Droopy and Brown skirt which was given to me by a friend and my black Clarks ankle boots.

I am notoriously bad at HAIR styling and struggled a bit with this but I put my hair in a highish ponytail (as high as mine goes...which isn't very) and then used hairgrips to pin it messily to the top of my head!

It was quite fun incorporating the piano into these photos.  Right colour, wrong model, mine being an upright, not a grand piano!

It was quite fun trying to pull slightly manic, slightly evil facial expressions!  I'm quite good at those. My A for GCSE drama came from playing a child-killer suffering from Postnatal depression and mania and Satan (modelled from Eric Roberts' Master from the 1996 Doctor Who the Movie), not from nice characters or essays!! Eeek!!!

So, what do you think? Does my version of Missy cut the mustard?

TARDIS Tuesday - The 12th Doctor from The Eaters of Light

Hi there,
It was great fun dressing as a male Doctor Who character last week so I thought I might attempt it again!

This time, I am choosing Peter Capaldi, the previous Doctor as my inspiration.

Peter Capaldi wore this outfit in an episode called The Eaters of Light which made use of the missing Roman legion as its storyline.

In this episode, he wore his ubiquitous black velvet jacket.  Underneath it, he wore a navy blue zipped hoodie.  Underneath this, he wears a black knitted jumper with coloured paint splatters over it and a black jumper underneath that.  It must have been very cold when filming this!
On his bottom half, he wears black or navy trousers and black boots.

And here's me!!!

I began with the paint-splattered jumper.  I managed to acquire the screen-accurate jumper a year ago or so as I saw it for sale and thought it might be quite tactical to buy it when I saw it for a cheap price in case someone was willing to swap a Clara item for it (you'd be surprised how cosplayers manage to acquire items for this purpose).  Alas, I've not had the opportunity to swap it, but in the meantime, I've grown quite fond of this big, comfy jumper.

Over the top, I added CBC's navy hoodie.  I wore a pair of black trousers and black boots.

Over the top, I was going to add a black coat of similar shape to Peter Capaldi's but  I could not get my arms into the sleeves with all these layers on!!! So instead, I added the black coat I bought in the charity shop with Hazel and Sophie.
The shape, buttons and length are wrong, but they'll do!

This is definitely a cosy outfit to wear for a rehearsal in a cold church for my orchestra!!!

What do you think?
