Let them eat hats 19- Nautical edge!

On Wednesday last week, CBC and I decided to meet for a picnic in Weald park, a country park some miles from where I live. It was a gorgeous day! I was decked with a darling wicker basket packed to the brim with goodies. Rendezvous point was the nearest train station. We arrived and wandered the emerald slopes to find a suitable verdant, lusciously grassy, shady yet not too cold, spot upon which to spread our repast.
CBC christened his new vintage picnic hamper...

...including fun crockery. It was all fun until 2 wasps showed up! I am kidding, these were the most vermicious, determined, aggravating, petulant, persistent, spiteful and selfish vespiforms that have ever ruined a picnic! However, we enjoyed our repast of bread rolls, parma-ham, brie, cave-aged emmental, lettuce, tomatoes, quiche, raspberries, Tyrells crisps, Operetta chocolates etc.

After deciding enough was enough with the wasps, we went for a wander through the delightful greenery. There was a massive log which we had fun jumping on and along...

Wandering through the soft grass was delightful! Oh, I forgot to introduce you to my hat!

I bought this from H&M some weeks ago! It is a small hat for me! Navy blue straw, with a polka dot edge to the brim and a matching polka-dot ribbon round the crown. It begged to be teamed with navy blue and white to create a nautic theme- accessories aplenty including my ridiculous rocket-dog pumps which have all sorts of nautical charms all over them (which I bought purely because they are emblazoned with a lobster- I have a curious affection for lobsters)

I don't really have many close-up shots of them, so I presend you with a silly shot where I tried on some discarded glasses we found on our travels- they are missing their right arm. Notice, my corsage migrated to the hat!

CBC also wore a hat- a charming Panama hat he bought to wear to the Chap Olympiad last year!

Weald park has some delightful flora and fauna to see- I love this place.

Wild blackberries were around- CBC tried one which was rather tart!

The thistles were reaching the seed dispersal stage of their life-cycle- downy parachutes were floating all over the place! I love how fluffy they are! My camera case is currently lined with a load of seeds which I stashed!!! I may not still be in year 5 but I am still thinking of my seed collection!!!

Finally, I spied some gorgeous bunnies scampering around as we departed the park...
