From the Archives: Mr Badger at the Not the Last Night of the Proms

Every so often, I like to look back at my blog archive (I realise I will have been blogging 15 years this April!). I often remember writing posts and look back with affection. This time, I don't remember writing this post or Mr Badger being there at this occasion, though now I remember the concert. 

It is such a happy post (especially the video near the end) and I think we all need a bit of silliness and cheer right now so do read through and watch the video (and marvel at my virtuoso party squeaker playing!)

Mr Badger is at Not the last Knight of the Proms!

Mr Badger has been enjoying some cultural experiences. 

Last Saturday, we took him along to the performance I was playing in, entitled "Not the last Knight of the proms!"

This was an event put on by the church in a village a few miles away from us and I was playing a flute duet with my friend A.

We rehearsed in the afternoon and then in the evening, we arrived to find the church decorated in merry splendour!

Mr Badger saw lots of events including a harp version of 'It's a small world'.

He enjoyed watching the choir sing Disney medleys in the first half.

He looked askance when he saw how many fast notes I had to play towards the end of the flute duet with nowhere to breathe! He joined in with the applause at the end.

After the interval, I think what he loved best was the Hygge created by the loving affection with which the church was decorated in a riot of colours- flags, balloons, bunting for the recreation of the British Last Night of the proms! There was a comfortable, enjoyable vibe throughout!

Everyone came back to their seats happily and saw the change in decor!

And Mr Badger gleefully saw that party-poppers, screaming balloons and squeakers had been placed on the pews!

He grabbed a squeaker instantly! The fun thing about it, was everyone was encouraged to misbehave during this part of the concert, letting off balloons, party poppers, squeakers whenever they wanted.

Britannia came in triumphantly ready to sing 'Rule Brittania'

as did Mr Brittania.

The words were in the programme and Mr Badger joined in with all the classics such as
Jerusalem, Brittania, All through the Night, there's no place like home, Auld Lang Syne, Battle Hymn of the Republic and the Sailor's Hornpipe.

Lots of fun with squeakers!

And he was very impressed that I discovered that I could use my party squeaker to emulate the last part of the tune of the Sailor's hornpipe!


Mr Badger decided that he'd very much like to come back in two years for the repeat performance!

TARDIS Tuesday- Guest post- 6th Doctor

Hello!

TARDIS Tuesday comes to you from a very special guest poster.

It was with regret that I realised that Mr Badger was wanting to move onto the next stage of his world tour. There were friendly folks in the USA, firstly Lisa Richards, who was waiting to host him.

On Friday night, we took him out again to Thai House for a last celebratory meal out (apologies, camera was at home).  He chose the vegetarian green curry.

On the Saturday morning, after a tasty breakfast, as we were coming to our last morning together, Mr Badger asked if he might showcase what he had learnt from the world of Kezzie.

 We posed together for a photo!

 Then Mr Badger took part in a concert with the Mr Bear's music class

 Taking a starring turn on the vibraphone.

Then he asked if he might be the host for TARDIS Tuesday.  How could I refuse!

Here is Mr Badger and in his words:
"I have been watching Doctor Who episodes whilst Kezzie is at school and I couldn't help but notice I have much in common with a certain 6th Doctor, Colin Baker, I am donning the obligatory TARDIS blue in my jacket.  With my stripy trousers, bright shoes and bright colour scheme, and slight prevalence towards grumpiness when disturbed, I feel I could pass as his acting double."

Mr Badger then decided that he might take a spin in the TARDIS for a week before he went to Lisa's!

How exciting!

It has been wonderful time with Mr Badger, I wish we had been able to go on more excursions, but I hope he enjoyed his Essex experience!

Mr Badger's culinary adventures

Mr Badger has not been to school again but he's been having good company eating with me and CBC.  Here's a few moments from his week.

 Lazy Saturday morning breakfast- Bran Flakes and books avec Kezzie.

 Mr Badger enjoyed a Thai meal out. He quite enjoyed the noodles!

He accompanied me blackberry picking.

 and helped CBC make them into a vast French blackberry tart.

 He was a little bit nonplussed by the idea of prawns on artisan pizza but declared it most tasty after trying it!

I wonder what Mr Badger will do next?
