TARDIS Tuesday- Victoria Waterfield from The Enemy of the World

This week, I thought I'd attempt one of my cosplans from last week's post. If you read it, I mentioned, I wanted to try and attempt some new companions from Classic Who ONLY using items I already had in my wardrobe!

It's a new companion for me, one I've not attempted before which is ex  Victoria Waterfield, who first featured in lost Dalek story, The Evil of the Daleks, is the archetypal screaming companion!  She is from the Victorian era and only about 14 years old.  In this serial, The Enemy of the World, the TARDIS lands on a beach and it transpires that the Doctor is a doppelganger for a tyranous leader.

Victoria has a cute outfit comprising of a turtle/polo neck jumper, tartan Tam O'Shanter hat, mini tartan kilt and simple shoes.

This colourised picture comes from a video by James Knox.  It seems to suggest Victoria's top is beige, her Tam O Shanter is purple and green/grey and her kilt similar. I only saw this picture after I wore the outfit but I'm not worried about this!

On the left is my attempt at the cosplay.  On the right is how I adapted it for attending an orchestra rehearsal.

I started with this little red wrap around tartan skirt. It was given to me by my work colleague, Deputy Head, as it didn't work for her. I tried a mustard turtle neck but it didn't look right with the colour so instead I wore this navy Esmara (Lidl) turtle neck.

I attempted some side by sides here but with smiles! I don't suit non-smiling!
My Tam O'Shanter hat came from the Kirkwall in the Orkneys islands but is Isle of Skye tartan! In retrospect, I think my Romana tartan baker boy hat, maybe worn backwards would have looked more the part but I like this Tam better!
I couldn't be bothered to root around for ankle strap shoes so I just donned some black T-bar shoes.

For orchestra, I added navy leggings and my trusty red Clarks boots. It wasn't actually cold at all today- I didn't feel cold just wearing bare legs but this skirt is too short for that!
I am lucky that one of the clarinettists in the orchestra lives in the same town as us and she gave me a lift to the rehearsal.  Unfortunately, we'd gone about 4 miles before I realised I'd forgotten my music! Oops!!!

I'm wondering if somewhere, I've got a better polo neck top to wear (mossy green?) but I guess I'll discover that when I swap over my clothes.

In doing this, I've realised, I could probably attempt JAMIE's outfit for this episode too.  I wore this same skirt when I attempted another Jamie outfit from The Mind Robber!  Watch this space!

TARDIS TEASDAY Name of the Doctor

Today's outfit inspiration was last featured on here in March 2022 and was one of my first favourite Clara Oswald outfits from when I first started TARDIS Tuesday.  It has featured several iterations on this here blog

This is SUCH an iconic Clara look.
A cute tartan dress from NW3 Hobbs, a dormouse necklace also from Hobbs, some burgundy wedge shoes from F Troupe and some opaque tights.

So here's my 2023 iteration:

I LOVE this dress!
There's not a huge amount to say about the outfit that is any different from last time except that I really do love this dress. It's classic, comfortable but looks cute.  I count myself very lucky to have been able to find this dress in my size for not too much and I thought it was the perfect choice for our excursion on Saturday.
To finish the look, I added my handmade dormouse necklace from My Pretty Little Earth.  I decided to wear my maroon Clarks brogue boots as I wanted to keep my feet nice and cosy.

So where did I wear this outfit?
Well, we went back to Mrs Salisbury's in Maldon for Christmas Afternoon tea.
This time last year, we went there for afternoon tea with my Dad, Stepmum and Sister. I dressed as Matt Smith's Doctor in an outfit he wears to accompany Clara in this outfit.

Mrs Salisbury's a wonderful tearoom and cafe in Maldon town centre in Essex and they do Christmas AMAZINGLY!

CBC's younger sister and her husband were supposed to be coming to us this weekend and we had booked to take them to afternoon tea at Mrs Salisbury.  Alas, her husband became very ill on Friday night so they were unable to come. We tried to find someone else to take their space but sadly, were not able to find someone.
Here was our delicious tea.  CBC had the pescetarian version and I had the regular one.
We each received 6 sandwiches each, I had a pig in blanket, he had a prawn cocktail, we both had a salmon and cream-cheese roll, a scone each, shortbread, clementine tart, mint chocolate mousse, blackberry pavlova and red velvet cake.
We had a hot drink on arrival. I had spiced apple, CBC had Winter Pimms (you could also have Prosecco). We ended up with an extra glass for free as there was a slight mixup with our food order.

Unlimited tea - I had Chocolate-and-coconut and Jasmine Pearl.
Here's how the entrance looks. This place is called Bright's Path.  Doesn't it look magical.

Here's us at our table. We had a nice view down into their new orangery where there were more people enjoying their tea.

My favourite part was the sandwiches.  I actually didn't eat any of my cakes or scone, just my sandwiches and savouries plus the mint chocolate mousse.  We took the rest home in my three handy plastic tubs I came prepared with.

We were really sad that J and S weren't able to come and stay with us, J said she felt like Cinderella all day.  I'm glad that CBC and I were still able to to enjoy our tea. On the way home, we went over to visit our friend N and spent the evening with him.
On Sunday, I had an orchestra concert in Woodford which went well but unfortunately, I started to get a a cough and chest on Friday night.  Today, I've struggled with my voice at school - you really need a voice to teach my job. I hope I can get through these next few days!

Hope all is well with you!

TARDIS Tuesday - Robots of Sherwood- Clara's tartan cute look

Hi,

Welcome to another TARDIS Tuesday! Today, I'm featuring an outfit worn by Clara in series 8 of Doctor Who.

I have featured this outfit twice before: in May 2019 and earlier in September 2017

It's not changed hugely but I have made a slight alteration.

https://claraoswaldcosplay.dreamconnect.de/?p=586

Sadly, we didn't get to see the outfit for very long, nor in daylight which is a shame since it is SUPER cute!

It featured a teal Oasis jumper and a Topshop purple and teal skort (that's a picture of shorts and skirt). She wears black tights and I THINK she wears her Bertie Astor wingtip heel shoes.

And here's my 2022 iteration!

I started with the same Topshop skort I've worn each time (it's screen accurate). It's really short but cute.
I teamed it up with an alternative Oasis jumper which has a leather collar. This jumper originally had a floral colour and a fake shirt bottom but the wonderful Ang adapted it for me. She even managed to turn the floral collar into lining for another Clara dress so not to waste it!
Today, I decided to wear a different pair of Clara shoes- these are my Bertie heels rather than my black suedette boots I wore last time.
I can't work out where I got this leather collar from but it is not the one I usually wear.
I wore this on Sunday for an orchestra rehearsal.  The skort IS short but I do like how well this outfit goes together. The whole thing really needs an iron but that's not going to happen!

I have not worn this outfit for school for obvious reasons but I hope Clara didn't- too short!

Hope you had a good day!

TARDIS Tuesday outfit: - The Name of the Doctor - Clara Oswald

Hello there friends,

I hope all is well with you .

The last time this outfit featured on my blog, it wasn't worn by me!  The lovely Ann at Polyester Princess wore here.  The last time I personally featured it was December 2017.  I also know I did 2 versions of it previously in around 2014-2015 but I can't find the posts!  Each time, I have worn a different dress.

Let's look at the original:

Jenna Coleman is wearing a tartan dress from the NW3 collection at Hobbs made of wool blend with navy sleeves and collar. She teams it with a gold-plated Dormouse necklace, also from Hobbs, her ubiquitous black tights and a pair of burgundy knot wedged shoes as well as a couple of bracelets.

So, how has my 2022 edition remained the same or changed?
Have a look for yourself

Yes, your eyes have not deceived you, I FINALLY have the dress! It's very hard to find and very sought after! How did I acquire mine?  Well, I had another quite rare dress which another cosplayer wanted, although mine was an different coloured one- she agreed to swap dresses with me.  The slight snag was her one was a size 16 but I still swapped it. Fast forward to last year and another cosplayer had obtained the dress in a 12 but it was too small for her but she remembered I had a 16....so we swapped!

It's SUCH a beautiful-quality dress and it feels really nice.  The 12 is a bit big for me but I am glad as I wouldn't want a dress in this sort of material to be too fitted.

The burgundy shoes I am wearing came from Clarks around 7-8 years ago and they are the same ones I wore last time.
The necklace is even more rare than the dress and I only know 2 people who own it.
This Christmas, I received 2 beautiful wooden laser-cut jewellery pieces from a local jewellery-maker who, it turned out, is the wife of CBC's work colleague.  I got in touch with her back in January and asked her if she would consider a commission.  My friend Rosie provided me with photos with measurements of her real Dormouse necklace and I sent them to Katy (at My Pretty Little Earth- if you are into Space or nature, she has some really lovely wooden pieces at very reasonable prices) and she came up with the most wonderful wooden recreation of it!

I'm super happy with this outfit but what do you think?

Tonight, I'll be at my first rehearsal of my most local orchestra since February 2020- very exciting!

xx

TARDIS Tuesday Clara Oswald from Time of the Doctor and Breathe

Hello there,

I hope you are well.   Thank you to those of you that said you would participate in my 40th birthday celebrations in 2 weeks (Click here if you don't know what I am talking about!). I am excited to see what you come up with!

I can't believe we went from a week of bitter cold with snow all week to a relatively warm day and rain which washed everything else away!

Luckily, yesterday, (Valentines day), after a really arctic walk through many snow-clad fields, I decided to take advantage of the snow and photograph my TARDIS Tuesday outfit in the snow- since it's probably the only chance I'll have in the next year or so (or two or three) to photograph a Clara Christmas outfit in the snow.

It was worn in Matt Smith's swan song episode, The Time of the Doctor, by Clara Oswald and is one of her most recognisable and loved outfits.

Let's see it:

Last time I wore it was here  (December 2020) and  here (November 2018) and here October 2014

It's evolved a little each time I've worn it and this time, it has had one little upgrade:

Hurrah, here it is in the snow!
I'm wearing all the time items I wore last time except I have an upgrade on the skirt.  I wasn't planning to upgrade the skirt but my friend C, who is a German cosplayer, has been unemployed for many months and she'd managed to get the screen accurate skirt and had tried to unsuccessfully sell this amazing alt (it's almost identical but a bit longer).  She'd offered it to me a little while back but I had a good alternative (without the wrap around style) so I had declined but when she offered it to me again, I bought it to help her out. Actually, it does fit my waist a bit better than my previous one.
I have one more upgrade to do on this outfit which involves a dyeing job on a green version of the cardigan which I obtained about 3 years ago but I still haven't had the guts or inclination to actually get on and dye it!
I thought it was quite a nice Valentines outfit so I donned it after our walk but CBC is less than impressed if something is a 'copy of Clara', he says he prefers outfits I've put together my self rather than copying hers so I ended up swapping the blouse for a black Cashmere jumper with a white bow on instead which was more cosy and comfy.

In the words of Sheila, here's the stuff-
these Topshop boots, a handmade necklace from my friend Susie, a spike bracelet I charity shopped and a carefully preserved green Christmas Cracker hat.
The entire outfit was acquired second hand except for the hat, necklace and cardigan (which is my black concert Cardigan)

What do you think?

TARDIS Tuesday - Time of the Doctor Clara's Christmas day outfit

Hey there!

I'm sharing a most iconic Clara Oswald cosplay today and it is also a Christmas special outfit so therefore I deemed it appropriate for this season!

It comes from Matt Smith's Doctor's Swan Song episode- The Time of the Doctor.  Clara's dressed for her Christmas dinner with her family.

Last time I wore it was here (November 2018)

Today, I wore it for our orchestra concert at school. It went really well. I was super pleased with the children for their hard work and the audience were really appreciative!

It's pretty similar to the outfit I wore last time.  Actually, apart from my boots, all of the garments I am wearing are all good alternatives to the actual original garments but quite good things I think.

The only different item I am wearing this time is a better version of the necklace which came from a friend Susie who is a fellow Clara fan and also a professional musician from Scotland- she managed to find some similar beads and made a few necklaces like Clara's and luckily, I was one of the chosen few to be allowed to have one of them as she had to order a certain number of beads. It looks really good and I am very pleased with it!

I was given many, many compliments from children, teachers and parents today! It often happens with a Clara outfit!

What do you think?

TARDIS Tuesday- Clara Oswald from The Time of the Doctor and Breathe

This week in TARDIS Tuesday, I am going to use what is probably Clara Oswald's most iconic or easy recognisable outfits for my inspiration. It is one of the very first Clara looks that I had a go at and it has been a while since I gave it a go again.
Image result for clara oswald time of the doctor outfit

The outfit consists of a white lace collar shirt (from Urban Outfitters), a black Pointelle cardigan from Yumi (the pointelle pattern is of bows), a Karen Millen red and black tartan wrap around skirt and some black boots with gold detailing from Topshop- oh and some spiky bracelets and necklace.
The picture below shows some details.

And here is my updated version:

Happily, I own the exact same blouse- I wore this outfit for the Remembrance day services, hence the addition of the Poppy which I thought went very well with the outfit.
I coincidentally own a Yumi pointelle cardigan, though of a different pattern which I picked up a few years ago at Braintree Freeport on discount because I thought it would be a nice smart cardigan for concerts, not realising it had a Clara link at the time.

My skirt is from Matalan (though bought second-hand for less than a fiver) and although the shape is slightly different, the print and material is spot on so I am happy to have found this.  There are, however, a dozen or other perfectly good Tartan skirts that would work for this look.
I bought the same boots second-hand from a Cosplayer and I really do like the way they look, even if they are higher than I am used to.
The final additions are the spiky necklace and bracelet which I picked up in a charity shop.

The final crowning glory (ha, get it?) is the green party hat which, happily, came out of my cracker last Christmas- it has been carefully preserved!

What do you think?  Is this an outfit you would wear?  Any other comments or suggestions?

TARDIS Tuesday- Clara in Name of the Doctor

Hello there!

How are you?  Well, I hope. Although my singing voice is definitely not up to par and I am really trying hard not to lose it, plus the throat is sore- it is MUCH better than it was and my speaking voice is fairly normal now.

Anyway, I am going to catch up on my missing Advent posts all in one go tomorrow but here is my TARDIS Tuesday.  This was all a bit last minute as I failed to do it at the weekend.

Below is one of my favourite Clara outfits of all time.  This beautiful Tartan Hobbs dress is very much in my style.  Alas, it is hard to find second-hand and is usually very expensive.  I have gone through a few incarnations of this in TARDIS Tuesday but I am hoping this one is the best so far.

Here's my one..

It has taken a while to create after much sifting of tartan dresses on Ebay.  This one ended up costing me £4.50 including postage in the Summer.   I added the collar which was bought from Ebay.

Her real necklace is also from Hobbs and is a cute Dormouse but I just added the circle necklace I wore last week.

A tea short seemed appropriate as I had been nursing a cup of tea as I completed various admin tasks at my desk after school including writing a musical reference for a pupil's secondary school application! I hope she gets in!

Much as I would love to own the real dress, I do like this alt and a nice girl told me I looked beautiful today in it which was very sweet! I think most people were astounded by seeing the legs! I usually wear leggings.  Fear not though, I was wearing shorts underneath the dress!

This was one of those 'Denouement' episodes where all was revealed about who Clara really was, so it was a huge deal when it showed!

What do you think of this outfit....or that episode?!

xx
