Through the window

I finally got around to joining in with another Style Imitating Art  with Jess at Animated Cardigan.
This beautiful stained glass entitled "Spring" was the inspiration piece, designed by John La Farge.
Let's stop to admire it! Isn't it beautiful. So bright and detailed.

The colour  of the background was an instant outfit creator in my mind.  That shade of, let's say it altogether... TARDIS blue, put me in mind of a real favourite dress of mine.

Here's my interpretation.

I adore this Dorothy Perkins dress which I wore for my orchestra's Peter and the Wolf concert last year (as my role as the bird)- I've worn it in a similar way but with different items excepting the dress. I can finally wear this dress at school because my previous headteacher also owned this dress so I was careful not to wear it to school in case we inadvertently matched! Embarassing, right?

The dress is, of course, self-explanatory as to the reason for choice, as are the Irregular Choice shoes.  The cardigan was an attempt to pick out the dark/turquoisey green hues in the background.  The necklace was a nod to the life and vibrancy of the picture- it was a leaving present from the Academy from my lovely work colleague Nikki! Finally, a flower in my hair

How would you have interpreted this painting?

Feeling a little lonely tonight. CBC, who is now on holiday, has travelled up to Northumberland, via Derby and Manchester to visit friends. My holiday doesn't begin till the weekend.  It's amazing how used you can get to living with someone. 5 years of living alone,  I was fine. The house now seems empty! It's probably all in my mind.

Hope you are well.

Swan song

I am afraid, ladies and gentlemen , that I am hanging up my blogging shoes......

No, not really, but I wonder if you thought I was for real? Couldn't resist the swan song joke!  I can't imagine giving up blogging- I'm going to be celebrating my 9th blogiversary soon!  Sophie was talking about her 3rd Blogiversary today and how blogging has enhanced her life!

Anyway, I thought I'd share my lovely jumper with you- this is an unusual outfit for me in many ways and probably only one that blogging would have encouraged me to wear.  I have long disliked tight trousers but seeing lots of bloggy lovelies in them and wishing I found them remotely comfy, I ordered a pair from ASOS - classic black trousers are really useful for me for concerts, and found that I don't mind tight trousers in this type of material- it must just be denim and thicker materials that I hate!  Also, I don't usually do beige/cream like this- but since it was THAT swan jumper, I couldn't help it! And it goes with my beigey crocheted beret!

(sorry about the Amelie-style shot. Aren't the bags under my eyes HUGE?!?!?!! I know I could do makeup but I don't want to- save it for special occasions!)
Decided to do a Lauren, Someonelikeyou and add light coloured shoes to the mix! So, yes, it is a bit bloggy.

And where would a blogger be without a kitsh, Alice in Wonderland, vintage-image necklace!? And faded rose earrings?

Go back to that first picture:

Look at that wonderful HUGE space- it's double the size of that- that's my music room currently.  See those empty display boards? Got to fill them!   Guess what I spent 10 mins of my PPA doing today?  Something I never imagined I would do at work.
Hoovering!  The carpet was really really grim and I've discovered it's not somehow made its way onto the cleaning rota yet- I'm remedying that, but in the meantime, I just wanted a clean carpet!  This is only my temporary space for a year or less maybe but I want it to be nice whilst I am here. It's a bit of a blank canvas at the moment but it's going to get there... It's ssoooo nice to be over here- my ears are really happy- having that bit more room makes the sound of 3 groups of 6 children simultaneously playing (hurrah, I can send two groups outside into breakout spaces) somewhat bearable!

I've been trying to be really productive after school this week, staying till close at 6.30 to try and get work done. CBC keeps complaining I'm home too late but I've got so much to do!!

I am so cross!!!  I had scheduled a Georgette Heyer book review post for tonight and then the other night, I was going through my drafts box to delete a WHOLE host of unfinished, now redundant blog drafts and somehow was a bit too gungho clicking on the delete button so I'm presuming it's been deleted as it is nowhere!!!! Grrrrrr, so I did this post instead!

Hope you are well x

The "I can't believe I am wearing a wool hat, skirt and shoes in June" edition!

Howdy!  Thank you for your recent kind comments and visits!  Such nice things!!  How was your day?  Was it everything you expected?! Mine was pretty good on the whole despite feeling like a right puppet in front of a PGCE music student!
I wore this to school today and quite simply it's hilarious that we are in June!  Literally, most of what I am wearing is winter-wear!  Its absolutely crazy to be wearing wool and thick tights at this time of the year (mind you WHAT was I thinking with such a summery top!  I froze ALL day!).   God has a sense of humour regarding the weather! Come on, let us have some sun!

FYI I am wearing:
Thrifted George new Bird-print top
Belt- Peacocks
Thrifted Kew wool skirt
Thrifted wool hat with Nessie wool tartan brooch
Mini-magic woof wool Irregular Choice shoes
Crocheted rose bracelet  - made by Mummy!
Batik wooden bead bracelet- market in Bali.
Peace bird necklace - gift
Red tights- Tescos
Vintage kissing children earrings

I get ludicrously excited when I see anything bird print in a Charity shop so I was really happy to find this top which was brand-new!  Hurrah!  There's something so timeless and cheery about bird-print!
I was really happy today at school- I love little joys!   I have the younger children this half-term and Tuesday is the day I have nursery am and pm.  There's always some children who don't join in especially one who I nicknamed Grumpy (not to his face!) because he used to sit there with the most sneering look (it had to be seen to be believed!) on his face refusing to join in with anything at all, not even TOUCHING an instrument and would scream if told to join in (which I found bizarre since even the most reticent child in singing terms loves to play an instrument).  Anyway, Grumpy, today in music was a total saint.  He sang everything, played the part of a crow in 'One of me dumplin's gone' he properly joined in with dancing to a calypso, happily played calypso rhythms on maracas, happily took on lead roles in a counting song. It was amazing!   I praised him constantly, not even as future encouragement or as positive reinforcement when you want to help reticent ones but because he was genuinely amazing!  Apparently, he came in yesterday to nursery and said, "I'm not going to cry anymore because I am a big boy now," and he has followed true on his words.  It's amazing to see their development and progress!  It was actually great fun as because of the Olympics, each year has a country/region to study so they are looking at the Caribbean hence my theme!
My year 2 lessons were interesting but of course, the PGCE student just HAD to come and see me in the class where the children were being a little hyper and found it much harder to focus (last lesson!) rather than the one that went brilliantly!  I think I teach a lesson better first time than second. Anyway, I'd love to know what she was thinking!
I hope that you are having a lovely day! Ciao bella!
