From the Archives: Christmas carol quiz

I'm not sure if the videos still work as I am copying them across, but I thought I would post this as a lot of you may not have taken part in this last time when I posted it back on Christmas day 2011!
Enjoy!

Missy asked me ages ago to post a vlog of me playing the flute- well, I didn't want to do this just for the sake of it (sorry! :-)  )  and felt very self-conscious about it, but when I was formulating my Christmas quizzes, I wanted to try a musical round.  I wanted my sister to be able to have a go at it (not in Northumberland) so I've posted it here so you could also have a go (much quicker than the other rounds).  This is my first vlog- please don't be too harsh on me- I wanted it to be a bit of fun and I hope you enjoy it too even though it makes me cringe to watch it!  Please let me know what you think of the quiz and if you did it, how many you got right if you did it!!  We did it on Christmas day and generally people did very well!

There are 15 questions, I play the first 4 notes of a carol or Christmas song and then you write down what carol you think it is!  Warning, there's nothing pop on here- as pop flute = meh!

Here's part one - questions 1-8

Part 2:   Questions 9-13

Part 3:  Questions 14-15

CBC's Pirates and Seafarers quiz evening- The answers plus a few highlights of the day

If you gave my Pirates quiz a go, here are the answers...

Fear not, if you missed it... go back to this post to try the questions.

I'll waffle for a bit so you can avoid seeing the answers...

I've been doing online training for school this week - we've been doing more courses. These are fairly mixed in terms of how I am getting on with these.

For my school music lessons this week, I've decided to focus on the children experimenting with some fabulous music programs that are free online.  I've written explanations and ideas for how to use them which I've found to be good for me because I've discovered some new musical programs and it's made me think about ideas for how the children can use them to apply musical concepts and ideas such as exploring textures such as antiphony, polyphony, homophony and monophony but as well, enabling them to apply mathematical skills (lines of symmetry, factors, doubling and halving) to musical composing- I've been asked to set the teachers some CPD to do for music- I've asked them to research a composer who their children will study but I'd like them to explore one of the music programs which I know they could use cross-curricularly for Maths, so that's good. I'd be really happy if a teacher chose to use this in their maths lesson one time!

Highlights of the day:

  • Family zoom quiz where I used the Google Doodle of the Theremin to play well-known tunes which they had to guess- everyone enjoyed it!
  • Belgian Chocolate choux pastry buns
  • Nettle soup with fried nettles on top
  • Goat cheese on crackers.
  • A quick walk round the fields full of Stitchwort.
  • Hilarious Whatsapp banter with my family.
  • Making Mr Pineapple and Kreeket dance to my Tonematrix music (one of the music technology programs I've been using)
  • Listening to the dawn chorus.
  • A fabulous omelette!

Family friendly Isolation quizzes

Stuck at home and bored? Why not do my Logo quiz with your family. It's got lots that children would recognise and is easy! Fancy something a bit harder? Try my tube quizzes. Why not try a Zoom quiz with your family? Each person will need to prepare a quiz round for each of the others which have the same number of questions.  Then everyone presents their quiz for the others. You share the answers and then add up your final scores.
Today, CBC and I took part in a quiz with his family- CBC prepared a Geography round, his sister a History, his mum -trivia, his brother- TV shows, and me- Morse code isolation edition!

If that seems too much effort,  here are some to get you started:

The Christmas logo quiz answers

If you want to take part in this quiz first, don't look at this post until you have done the quizzes.

Kezzie xx

Here are the answers to the logo quizzes.

No cheating...

Christmas quizzes and fun: The logo quiz

Hi there,
I always like to have some fun making quizzes for my family to do on Christmas day- it all sprang from a Christmas quiz idea with my inlaws a couple of years ago.  I've shared ones I've done before.
Now I thought you might like to share these with your family.

I've uploaded these as Jpeg piles but if you want the Publisher files to print in better detail just let me know.  I'll post the answers in a seperate post  just in case you want to join in the quiz yourself. No cheating. Let me know if you decide to use them.

Here's the label for previous quizzes I've shared here too. Enjoy.

Love Kezzie xx
* Disclaimer- I don't own any of these logos- I'm just offering these companies free publicity by using their logos in my quiz.*

You know you live in a cold house when you return home after 36 hours to discover your left the milk out of the fridge- and it is STILL fine, not gone off!
PARCELS!!!!!!!
I've had a rather lucky week in terms of postage!  A parcel EVERY day!!!!

Monday: Uniglo parcel- I ordered my friend one of their new Heat-tech tops in the Orla Keily print.  I also ordered myself one! BAD! I love my Hermes courier- she's soo nice, she always times it so I am in.  It was gone 8pm when she arrived!
Tuesday: A parcel arrived from the lovely Char with my giveaway prize!  Cannee believe that I won 2 giveaways in a week!  It's my perfect item! A gorgeous Book clutch bag from Asos!  Totally cool!
Wednesday: ASOS parcel arrived with a Christmas present for someone who shall remain nameless just in case they read this!
Thursday: My cracker-swap parcel arrived from my lovely swap-partner, Jille!  I am staggered by the beauty of her handmade items.  It always makes me feel ashamed how rubbish my hand-made items are. Doing a post on this tomorrow...
Friday:  I won a gorgeous giveaway from Intrinsically Florrie- a unique knitted hat designed by Florrie made by someone for Innocent Smoothies!  I love the fact that the second giveaway I won this week was a HAT!

Thanks to all three blogging ladies!

Cat jumper

CATS: Speaking of parcels- I am, it seems, a bad influence (or a useful one, depending on your viewpoint) on one of my fellow teachers.  After she admired my white cat-hat- asking me where I bought it, she went out and bought one for each of her daughters, along with matching gloves.  On Tuesday, I was wearing my Joy Intarsia cat jumper and she said she'd love to buy one for her daughters.  Unfortunately, on being directed to Joy, it was sold out, so I suggested Asos to her.  She got a little lost on it, so I went and showed her the nicest jumpers and by 5pm, when I returned to her, on Tuesday, she had ordered 3 cat jumpers and a bunny jumper for her daughters. Because she had, ahem, spent £130, she got free postage and they were there by 12pm! Asos is very convenient!

Dog jumper

DOGS AND QUIZZES: The other outfit shots are from last SAurday in which I am proudly wearing my new grey beret that a work colleague bought for me after I admired hers!  Do you like my 'Christmas jumper'?  Well, it's not, but it's that sort of ilk! It's funny, but it seems very tame after the massive surge in the Christmas jumper stocks in shops!  They're everywhere!  It doesn't seem quite so 'disgusting' as I've now seen more lurid/hideous varieties! (I say digusting jumper in an affectionate way!)

I last wore it on my blog when I gave my first VLOG!!!!!!  I gave you a Christmas carol quiz!  If you didn't attempt it last year,  do go and try it! If nothing else, you get to laugh at what a muppet I am in real life!!!!

It's here:  Kezzie's embarassing Christmas carol quiz vlog 2011

If you'd like to try some of my other quizzes, please ignore the latter half of the post in which I list the answers to my OTHER Christmas quizzes!  It kept CBC's family occupied for several hours!

Here they are:
Christmas activities and quizzes with love from Kezzie x: Meanings connected to numbers:

Christmas activities and quizzes with love from Kezzie x:  Tube map quiz

LIGHTS:
We all know I love a novelty necklace- here's the Binoculars necklace I bought at the school fair.  It's accompanied by the gorgeous lights of Sloane Square which I took when I did my (by the way, fab!) concert at Holy Trinity Sloane Square, last week!

OH AND OBSERVATIONS: (yeh, didn't want to put that in the blog title to scare you off!)
I had an observation today!  As a teacher, you have someone from SMT observing you each term to check the quality of your teaching.  No matter how confident you feel about your teaching (or not), it is always terrifying!  I was teaching Year 4- a lesson (though adapted every year to be slightly different) that I have taught for 4 years. Still was totally scared.  Luckily, I had a lovely class, who really tried hard and managed to cooperate, work sensibly and share all sorts of their prior knowledge:  I honestly LOVED the child, who when I asked them to think of the success criteria we needed for the lesson said- we needed to ensure we needed to choose an interesting texture- that was one of the focus words of last week! I think it went ok, not wonderful, though I was a little disappointed that it wasn't as good as I'd hoped.   So glad she didn't observe the class who I did that lesson with afterwards- they didn't work very well with each other!  It's funny (funny strange, not funny hilarious) but the first class revels in group work and get on with whoever you put them with but the second class bicker and don't gel together.  It happens. Praise God she saw the first class!

Bet you wish I'd avoided all that waffle and done Friday letters!  However, I felt like writing waffle today!
Tell me things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
