TARDIS Tuesday- Tileprint alternatives!

Is it really true that I haven't featured this Clara outfit since August 2021?  The time before that was 2019- so it seems a biennual appearance is its regular spot!

Well, it's due a repeat as it was one of my original favourite Clara outfits!

Topshop tile print dress and navy Bertie Brogues plus navy tights.

Let's have a look at my rendition.

It was worn for school on  Tuesday in September.

You might be forgiven for thinking, Hmmm, this looks a slightly different colour and print. No, your eyes aren't deceiving you. For whilst I DO have the accurate colour, Topshop made an alternative nude-coloured version.
My lovely size 8 version was getting a bit tight on me and I found it hard to locate another one in a larger size.  My friend Laura was selling her size 12 alt coloured one and I was selling a Yaz Khan top she wanted. So we swapped!
I MUCH prefer a larger version. I subsequently found the green one in a 10 so I sold on my Green one.
Worn with the too-small navy brogues. This is their last appearance on the blog because I have sold them! Realised there was no point in having them as they were too small and I didn't want to wear them because they hurt. So they are winging their way to Canada.  I could have sold them at a profit but I just sold both my pairs at the same price which meant I basically made what I had sold them for.

Bye, bye brogues!
However, I have seen that Clarks had a lovely Hamble Oak pair of brogues which are quite similar so if I ever see those at a bargain price, I may replace..and I won't be scared to ruin them!
The print is really pretty. Not sure I've ever shown you it up close before.

This was a good dress to wear for the slightly cooler but still warm weather we had in September.

I also think it is a good teacher look too. Out of some of Clara's slightly less school appropriate outfits, this one rates higher!

Hope you have an enjoyable day!

TARDIS Tuesday- Clara from Dark Water

Hi there!

I hope all is well with you.

Did you hear about the awful chopping down of the tree on Hadrian's wall in a spot known as Sycamore Gap?  A beautiful 300-year old tree that has delighted many for years, been the inspiration for countless artists and has sheltered many over the years.  It was brutally sawn down with a chainsaw on Wednesday night.  I've walked that stretch of the Roman Wall from the Sill to Housesteads many times over the last 15 years and it is really sad that it is no more. I wonder if we will find out why it happened in time? It's just so sad and pointless!  I am glad that I made CBC drive me there for a walk in July to walk that stretch even though he didn't want to at the time.

Much love to a much beloved tree. It feels like so many beautiful trees are being cut down in recent times, if not by awful developers (Blore homes, I loathe you), local councils or mindless yobs.

Onto TARDIS Tuesday.

I was incredulous to see I had not shared this dress and outfit on the blog since 2019!!!

The outfit I am inspired by this week is Clara Oswald's outfit worn in double episode finale of series 8, Dark Water and Death in Heaven.

She wears a navy and orange Aztec print dress called the Wax Koko dress from French brand Sessun along with her standard black opaque tights, navy block-heeled brogues from Bertie and then later adds her Topshop green contrast checked mac

Here is my version of this outfit:

My camera was very hazy and blurry- not sure if I need to clean the lens or something!

The lovely Ann is responsible for me obtaining this dress as she brought it with her to England after it being sent to her from France a few years ago.  I'm quite surprised it still fits me as a few of my other dresses that I've not worn for a while don't anymore! It's a light crepe material and if I could get away with cycling in it I might wear it for school  few more times whilst it's still fairly warm...with leggings!  It's an alternative coloured one to Clara's one which is Indigo and orange- mine is navy and white.

The shoes are the same ones from Bertie and whilst I ADORE how they look, they really are too tight for me to comfortably wear and whilst it is lovely to have them in my collection- realistically, I should probably pass them onto someone who will get more wear out of them.

My black version of Clara's Topshop jacket is one of my oldest cosplay pieces and one I wear the most-it's a light cotton hooded jacket- perfect for cycling and slinging on when there is a slight chill in the air!

I really like this one of Clara's outfits though, if I had to rate it by how easily you can run around being chased by aliens or being dropped out of aeroplanes, I'd say, Could Do Better!

Hope you are well!

TARDIS Tuesday - Amy Pond- Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

 Hello!

I hope you are well today! Today, for TARDIS Tuesday, I am sharing a cosplay I tried twice, back in March 2018 and April 2019.    It is worn by Amy Pond in 11th Doctor adventure, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.

It has changed slightly since last time but not deliberately (e.g. not because I bought a new piece FOR this cosplay) but just because I tried a different garment!

Let's look at the original:

She wears a blue and white cotton striped, cable-knit sweater from Reiss, blue skinny jeans, brown brogues AND, I believe, her black heart-shaped 'A' initial necklace as well as a watch. Sadly, we don't see her bottom half in this necklace.

Let's see it:

I wore this on Saturday for a day at home.  We were in all day and didn't end up going out at all until the evening.  We changed to go out for a Thai meal. I might share that outfit another day!

Let's start with the jumper.  My jumper is the same jumper as Amy's but in a coffee shade instead of the blue.  Reiss makes very good quality clothing and I really like this jumper. It's a good jumper for a day in Winter that isn't too cold.

This time, I added a pair of indigo jeans from ASOS which I wear for a Clara cosplay which work better than any of those I've worn before plus my Clarks men's brogues.
I couldn't find my 'K' initial necklace so I just stuck to a Swarovski heart necklace.
I thought my hair was looking a good length for this cosplay (and I am thinking of having it cut soon!) so it seemed a good time to photograph it.

I will rewear the jumper for school on Monday I think but with an alternative bottom half- perhaps some other trousers! Perhaps some brown ones to match the jumper or some black ones.  Hmmm...

Hope you are well.

TARDIS Tuesday- The 11th Doctor femme version from The Bells of Saint John.

Hello there!

I hope you are well! Today, I thought I'd share a closet cosplay that I've been meaning to do for about 3 years and finally got around to doing!

It is the final outfit worn by the 11th Doctor, played by Matt Smith.

https://wibblywobblyknits.wordpress.com/2015/02/26/finished-another-11th-doctor-color-variant-today/

He wears his trademark Bowtie- purple or navy. A blue textured shirt, A purple suede frock coat, a grey/blue textured waistcoat, black/navy trousers and purple brooch boots.

https://thegingerdoctor.wordpress.com/2016/05/20/cosplay-build-the-silver-matt-smith-waistcoat/

And here's my version- concocted from things I own anyway!

I'll run you through my outfit. I wore this for a trip to the lovely town of Maldon in Essex for a family Christmas afternoon tea at the wonderful tea room, Mrs Salisbury
The first item I chose was my purple wool coat (Debenhams 14 years ago).  it's not the same shade, nor does it have the same lapels or texture, but it's purple and the correct length.
I wanted to wear a blue and white stripy shirt I have but I couldn't find it so I just wore a white spot-textured shirt from White Stuff.
My waistcoat came from La Redoute a while back and is a sparkly/shiny grey colour. Again, it's not the same shape but serves as part of the whole look!
I added my silver pocket watch which was a 16th birthday present from my Godsister!
My bowtie came from the Vintage Emporium in Hexham. CBC does have a purple one but I didn't manage to find it for the photos!
We found some good locations to pose by in Maldon- this door looks vaguely TARDISesque!
Rather than go for a trousers look, I decided to make it a feminine version of the outfit and added my black velvet Topshop skaterskirt and black tights.

The final touch is my Clarks Men's purple Brogue boots that I bought back in 2019.  They are fleece-lined and very robust

It was a fun outfit to wear and I felt smart.  Luckily, nobody mistook me for the waiting staff at our Afternoon tea.  It was a lovely occasion which I will post about soon!
What do you think?

Would any aspect of this outfit work for you?

TARDIS Tuesday- Clara Oswald from the Series 8 Promo, the Caretaker and Death in Heaven.

For today's TARDIS Tuesday, I thought I'd rewear a favourite Clara Oswald outfit from series 8 of the series.  She actually wears it during 2 episodes AND for the series 8 promo photos.
I've worn it for 3 previous TARDIS Tuesdays but today is my most screen accurate rendition.

She wears a Topshop tileprint  shirt dress, a jagged tan belt from Other Stories, navy tights and then a pair of Dune Amoy block heel navy lace up shoes.

And here I am:
The outfit is pretty screen accurate and was one of my most expensive Clara Oswald purchases as I reaally wanted this dress but it was very hard to find!

The heels are actually a much rarer find but I think I bought mine for £12 or less.  They are the newest item of this outfit but I have had them for a couple of years now.  They are a size too small which is  a bit annoying but I can get them on!  Aren't my photos glamorous below- Nora Batty-style tights which are a pair of my old school tights from my teenage years and a nice hole just near the heel but they are comfy!

 Hope you are well!

Encouragement.

 Hello there!
I hope you are well!  I am writing after a very busy weekend and it is nice to sit down for a moment and type something here!
I didn't have time to get into the garden to take a picture of today's outfit and yet I really wanted to photograph it so I harked back to the early days of my blog outfit post where I would take pictures with nice piles of clutter in the background committing all those blogging faux-pas that all the pro-advising 'how to..' bloggers cite as a big no-no- letting the world know that actually you are a messy person who owns clutter.  And showing the evidence in your photos.  I admit it, I have clutter.  As I took these, the plasterer had just departed after being here from 8am on Saturday AND Sunday so yes, there is debris around. He was good though and brought his own hoover to hoover up plaster dust!

Anyway, to appease the clutter Police, I have super-imposed flowers courtesy of PicMonkey to try and trick you into thinking it is tidy!
The jumper was one of my other purchases last Saturday on my birthday trip out in London.  I saw this jumper in Collectif in Christmas 2014 and loved it but didn't want to buy it at full price.  Thus I was rather chuffed to find it at less than half-price when I bought my sailor coat. It's 100% cotton which I am glad about as I dislike all these viscose/acrylic mix jumpers they all seem to have and the collar is very furry!
 Hedgehogs for your delectation!

Oh and I alluded to another purchase which was these Corporate Beauty heels from Poetic License at Irregular Choice. I fell in love with them when they first hit the Irregular Choice site but couldn't justify them.  Somehow, when I went to see the Alice collection, I ended upstairs in the sale section and found these beauties in my size at less than half the original price!  They are so pretty!
Today, at church, a lovely young lady (who is 17 who is battling with exams, school shows, Grade 7 flute and general life) was asked if she could transpose several songs for B-flat instruments and have some extra rehearsals.  She was really upset at having to say no, as she had asked for the music specifically by a date (which has passed) and is so overworked at the moment (coursework for Art, Music,History, Spanish) and I thought that though there are so many people that moan about teenagers these days, me definitely included, that we don't always see that for every lazy phone-obsessed individual, there are 10 beautiful, hard-working, kind, caring youths, who take opportunities (Leading a worship band and writing parts for younger players in her case as one example alone), give their all and do amazing things.  It encourages me to see people like her and I was sad for her to see her finding it hard to juggle everything.  I really wanted to encourage her and help her out and so I've sent a card in the post to her which I hope will greet her midweek and cheer her up. She has an amazing family, but no matter what support systems people have in place, I think it is our duty to take the time to do something to encourage people, even if we are worried that they will think we are silly for doing little things like this. I'm not saying it so you will leave comments saying, "Oh that's so nice of you!" (please don't), but so you might take the time to perhaps do the same and encourage someone with a small gesture if you can.   "Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing," it says in 1 Thessalonians v11.   It would be a nice act for this week to try and encourage where we can and that is my aim for this week. To encourage.

I hope you have a good week.

Serendipitous Charity shop visit

I know you all enjoyed my charity shop finds last week so I thought I'd share another post with some things I found this week.
As usual, I had no intention of buying anything.  CBC and I went to Maldon in Essex at the weekend for lunch at Truly Scrumptious (delicious as usual). CBC needed to buy himself some smart black shoes as he is an usher at a wedding at Lincoln cathedral and he went to search. I wasn't really wanting to get involved in this as he's slower than me when purchasing.

I went into a Hospice charity shop to have a look and saw this set of four beautiful vintage flower brooches. They are so beautiful and bright and at £2 each weren't too expensive.  I've seen lots of these on vintage bloggers' posts which I have always admired so I was rather chuffed.

In the bargain box I also saw these two brooches which are rather pretty £1.

CBC called me and said he couldn't find any black shoes. I had only been in one shop. I went to meet him and then he got excited by a local green grocers so I took my chance to slope off again.  Namely to the Salvation Army Charity shop.

In there, I remembered a tip from another blogger to go and look at men's shoes as I have large feet.

I ended up trying on these size 8.5 shoes from Jones the Bootmaker just as CBC came in search of me.  He looked at them and asked me if I was going to buy them.  He then tried them on himself and was delighted to buy these Jones the Bootmaker black shoes for the wedding. £3.49 rather than £40+!

He was rather glad I'd sloped off to the charity shop!
And I ended up with a pair of size 8 men's shoes myself. These brown shoes say they are Loakes which I know are a nice make - they had a good heel on them and a nice chestnut colour and again, for £3.49,I was rather pleased by them.

I think the success of the day has to be CBC getting those black shoes for the wedding. What a good thing I tried them on myself!

Have you found any exciting charity shop items recently?
