Style Imitating Art Katzensymphonie

I haven't taken part in Style Imitating Art for ages! I kept forgetting about it and then not having the time to think of an outfit. However, when I saw last week's inspiration piece, I knew what I could wear:
The piece was chosen by Salazar at 14 Shades of Grey
Katzensymphonie” by Austrian artist Moritz von Schwind,

Such a gorgeous piece!!! Right up my street.

Naturally, I began with my Miss Patina Cats playing instruments blouse!
I love this blouse! It's so me.
I then added the Kew Broderie Anglaise skirt.  The eyelets made me think of musical notes. I would have worn my cat culottes but they are still away in a suitcase of winter clothes (not done my swap yet!)
I added my Clarks Artisan black Nubuck wedges (worn yesterday) and I was good to go!

I wore this for school on Monday! I remember a girl, who plays cello, walking behind me saying, "That cat is playing the cello on your shirt!" in utter wonderment!

The school trip today was challenging. Mainly due to the Elizabeth line being utterly vile! There were trespassers on the line when I attempted to get to school so I arrived an hour and a quarter later than I should have done.  We then had delays and really overcrowded trains on the way in, got separated on the train and then had the same issues on the way back! The train journey was very stressful but I had a great team of adults to help and the kids were super!

TARDIS Tuesday- Yasmin Khan and her unidentified critters!

Hi there!

I had a break from TARDIS Tuesday last week but I am back with something SEMI new!. I Last featured this outfit on the blog in November 2022.  It was worn by Yasmin Khan in Revolution of the Daleks for a short while.  FINALLY, she got out of her leather jackets and got into Corduroy... for about 10 seconds....grrr!!! It is one of those outfits where I IDed one of the garments myself- the lovely G Star Deline corduroy jacket but the actual shirt ID eluded me.

Fast forward to last week and my Insta Yaz fan friend Rebecca had managed to ID the blouse! I am pleased because I actually helped her with this.  I shared these screen shots and zoomed in on some to point out some smaller details and other colours and she did some work on lightening and adjusting the colours AND all of a sudden, she noticed there were not just flowers but creatures!  Knowing Yaz had a couple of Oasis blouses, she searched for Oasis AND FOUND THE BLOUSE!!! And once you saw her blouse, you could IMMEDIATELY spot the unicorns!!!!

And then we had lift-off!!!!
She shared a link to one or two on Vinted but I found myself one for £3 only and it arrived on Sunday to be picked up from the very useful INpost lockers.  I love these!  It's always exciting to
a) try and guess which door will open
b) try and complete the transaction in as short a time as possible as it tells you how long it took you. My current record is 18.2 seconds but I'm definitely up for decreasing this!

I wore my blouse for school today (Tuesday) but by posting time, it's already past midnight!

Here's my take on the outfit.
I'm wearing my G star jacket and Oasis shirt but I wore more school appropriate black trousers rather than blue jeans and added a pair of Yaz Dune boots. We don't see what she wore with this outfit but I'm betting it was boots!
I look fatigued and old but still smiling! Wore my Avon Lacey initial letters in place of Yaz's more expensive Alex Monroe ones. I'd love to own the actual Alex Monroe floral initial ones, they are SOOOO pretty but so expensive!

I thought I'd share some details of the pretty shirt. It's viscose but feels nice to wear.

Here's how I styled it when I got home work! Let my hair down and added my black furry gilet plus my crocheted slippers! IN TARDIS Blue of course!

Hope all is well with you! My day was quite successful! The year 3 classes had actually practised Jingle Bells at home and many were able to successfully perform it in the class. Singing Assembly went well learning You shall go out with joy, our trademark end of Carol concert song.  Year 2 and 1 were quite successful.  The usually difficult year 1 class LOVED recapping In and Out the Dusty Blue Bells and even more loved the new game, Here comes Barnaby  and came up with some very inventive ways of parading down the aisle of clapping children! Year 3-4 Choir went well as they finished learning my new Christmas song and seemed to like it- PHEW! Hoping you will get to hear it just before Christmas!
Can you guess what the title of it is?

xx

TARDIS Tuesday- Yaz Khan outfit no.1 from Resolution

For TARDIS Tuesday, I thought I'd share an outfit I thought I'd shared back in February or January. I didn't realise I hadn't!

A nice girl called Rachel Millar contacted me on Insta to ask about the ID of a blouse I had found for Yaz Khan and asked me if I would like to know some of her IDs. I naturally accepted and she told me about this blouse which featured in Resolution, Jodie Whittaker's Doctor's first New year special.

I wore it for the first time in Jan or Feb and naturally thought I'd posted a picture. But I can't find one! So apparently I didn't!

Fast forward to Sunday and another insta friend posted her ID of this blouse and I said I knew it and I'd worn it! But couldn't find it!

So I thought I would! Sadly, having just had my hair cut, my hair is not very Yaz Khan friendly.

The outfit features a navy floral and bird print blouse from The Kooples plus one of her standard All Saints jackets plus black jeans and her Dune Pacey boots.

I must admit, I didn't spend much time putting this together on Sunday so I didn't check whether to tuck my shirt in or not and decided it was silly to wear a jacket.

I wore my pink Peri top from last week underneath and put on the Kooples blouse which I think I bought for mere pounds. It's stretchy material it's pulling a bit over my pear-shaped hips!
I wore NOT my usual black trousers (which have a hole from my bike fall. Ang, I did find them but not got around to sending yet.) but some charity-shopped ones which are loser plus my Pacey boots.

Monday was fun at school. I taught my year 5's about dissonance in music (we listened to various music including The Rite of Spring, the theme music from Psycho and two pieces called From the diary of a fly  and  Night music by Bartok.   Several of the year 6's turned up in my room at play AND lunchtime AND in the afternoon and some of the year 5's were there for 30mins to compose a song for a teacher who is leaving (my fellow treasure island director). I then sorted stuff but got very little done so tomorrow (and Wednesday) will be busy!
Hope you are well!

The truth about cats and dogs

I thought I'd intersperse my Germany and France adventures with different blog posts to try and keep things varied here and to try and not make it too samey!
Here's an outfit from before the holidays.

CBC always says I am wearing his school uniform when I wear this Closet London dress as the pattern is quite similar to his school's skirt.

The beauty of these Closet dresses is that you can wear a blouse underneath, pinafore-style and wear them all year round, not just in the Summer. They have pockets and I always know their size 8 will fit me perfectly in these fit-and-flare styles.
The obvious choice was my stalwart turquoise Doc Martens and this time, my Miss Patina Love cat blouse. It seemed  quite a fun idea to add this acrylic dog brooch though I am kicking myself for not putting it on the other side so it looked like the dog was looking up at the cat instead of stubbornly ignoring it!

I have had a very nice weekend. It has largely consisted of garden and nature-based activities which I will share more of in my #30dayswild round-up this week but has felt very satisfying and though I am always sad to go back to work, it has been a very good holiday on the whole!

I hope all is well with you.

A treasury: cakes, cats playing instruments, food, jumpers and Doctor Who!

Hello there!!! Hope all is well with you!

I thought I'd do a little summary of some random pictures and things that don't really make a post by themselves! A bit like one of those instagram sum-up thingies!

Went to my niece's 6th birthday party! Lovely to see all, or most of my family altogether!  Here I was with my sister, looking lovely in polka dots, my beautiful niece, resplendent in white lacy flowers and me in er- THAT Miss Patina cat blouse and TARDIS blue tights and skirt!

It would be lovely to have a really nice picture of it up close so you could see the cats really nicely and the collar but that double chin business happened as usual! So I've cropped my chin out!!!

My Mum has created magic in cake-form again- here was K's Cinderella birthday cake!

Let's have a look at that sparkly dress up close!
She also made one that we could cut on this day as the Cinderella one was for her birthday party this weekend!
There were also cupcakes galore! I also took home a big parcel of food which served as lunch for two days!
My niece is learning the flute (she started this term) so it was nice to see her flute. I played for her which she really liked although I'm not sure everyone at the party appreciated my playing! ;-)
It was quite funny showing people how to blow it properly though as everyone wanted a go and I think I helped them to improve their tone, especially my brother-in-law! I played Star Wars themes for him!
Oh yes, she was given a Dorothy dress for her birthday by someone so that's why she changed!
Onto other random things:  Wearing all the foxes! Had a break from brooches!
Oh and CBC has a light-sabre app on his phone- it does the noises when you brandish it as- er, a lightsabre!
I nipped into town after work and saw some pretty decorations already up in the shopping centre.
Does feel a bit like a Christmas wormhole with the bauble being sucked in!

 And here's the front view!
 I like the observatory-style roof!
 And a lower view!
It's definitely become hat weather again- I cannot cope without one now! I decided that leopard looks a bit like dalmation!
My favourite food in Indonesia was Tempeh so I was chuffed to buy a tin of tempeh curry in the health food shop. It was delicious! I added veg and rice.
 MMmm, tempeh...
And made a really delicious vegetable pasta with chilli-flakes. CBC thinks I am now obsessed with chilli flakes (perhaps I am!)
Oh and my Mum sent me some more cake pictures- I thought I'd show you three cool ones!
Who wants a ballpool cake!?!?!
And here was my 3rd birthday party cake. Yes, er, that would be a bathroom with toilet.  Yes, I was a bit weird.  I had an obsession with toilets. I HAD to see the toilet in every house I visited and so my Mum made me a toilet cake complete with blue food dye in the loo!!!
And for my crafty friends, how about wool balls in icing!?
And there sits fair Rapunzel in her tower!

Ok, so here is the geeky Doctor Who bit where I say what I think about Doctor Who- feel free to skip onto the comments section if you please!
So... I think that Clara was the intended target all along.  When Ashilda first greeted her in the episode, she said, "You are as beautiful as all your photos!"- what photos?  Who took these? Certainly no one in the episode she met Clara in.  I can't help but think that it was intended that she sacrifice herself.

The fact that they kept saying, "Don't run, they always run!" about those who face the Raven and Clara didn't run seems significant. I think that the irrepressible Missy, AKA the Master will have something to do with all this and will be in the finale- I think she arranged it all- she hated Clara and also, in the Series 9 trailer, there is a scene where Missy opens her eyes slowly looking like she is staring at something in an amazed fashion which I am almost certain we haven't seen yet in the episodes she was in (you can see it in the trailer at 0:45) so she will turn up in the finale.

I know Clara will turn up in the finale- but I'm actually not sure if that is the REAL Clara or it is one of the Clara splinters and she'll end by telling him, "Run you clever boy and remember...."

As for the Lady Vintage Competition-   I somehow feel it is a bit impossible for me to win it now, I've got 174 likes which is amazing but sadly the pretty Flamingo girl has 289 likes- ahrgh!! But good for her!
I'll include a little plug for it again just in case though!
PINK ALERT:
P.S.
In case, you missed it, I have entered Lady Vintage's Hall of Fame photo competition with my outfit and I would be SO grateful if you liked my outfit out of those who have entered enough to give it a like on Facebook.   If your husband, boyfriend, cat, dog or significant other felt so inclined to take a look too, (like a few have!), I would be very grateful!  Especially as I am now 100 behind the leader!!! Waaaaah!!!!

If you wanted to share the album too, I wouldn't be adverse to that!!!

What's happening with you then?

Tank you

Tank top

Sophie recently posted a gorgeous outfit featuring a lovely lilac tank top with a white blouse and tartan trousers that was really beautiful and I laughed because I had set out my lavender tanktop and a white top out for the following day- the tank has been missing for ages and I had finally found it. I liked her whole outfit with the tank with the blouse and fitted trousers so much that I decided to actually iron my newly washed white blouse again (after school girl outfit) and try and great a similar one. Sadly, I couldn't carry off the tight trousers so I wore green leggings instead with a teal cordhuroy skirt. However, I really enjoyed this outfit which I wouldn't have thought to put together otherwise. Thanks Sophie!

I adore the tank top which came from Whitestuff about 4 years ago (and I cannot believe I only featured it once before in this post.) When I bought it, I fell in love with much of the catalogue and ending up ordering about 5 items which equated to spending more money on clothes in one go than ever in my life. Whitestuff tends to be a bit pricy I find but very pretty! I think it's the coloured button assortment which makes me think I should just change the buttons on a lot of my cardigans to update them and give them a bit of a facelift!

Shut up Downton Abbey!

Hello there!  Hope you are well and happy!  It seemed remarkably warm today, which I liked!
Extraordinarily, I am wearing yellow!  A golden shade of, but still yellow!  Many of you might know I don't wear yellow but when I saw this yellow vintage blouse, I somehow relented.  And I guess it doesn't look too bad on me!
When put it together, the blouse seemed to have a distinctly Downton-Abbey vibe to me.  I felt like it needed a long dark skirt to go with it
(By the way, anyone have any idea what era it is?! The shop didn't say)

The sleeves had a cute detail which made me think of Bruges lace!
It also needed a Cameo to complete the vibe.
Have you been watching Downton Abbey?  It's been brilliant so far!

I am afraid I have nothing interesting to say except I hope you are well and happy!

Been enjoying some nostalgia with fish fingers!  I adore them- it's all the fault of Fridays at school where there are always fish fingers!  The dinner ladies, midday assistants and I stand there drooling as we remind reception children to say please and thank you and help them cut their food up! Teamed up with green cabbage and sweet potato-mash and peas.

By the way, yesterday's dinner was not salad!  Those vegetables were  cooked and melted butter is nice on them?  Reeeeeeally, am I (apart from those who approved) the only one who likes some melted butter on my peas and beans?

Mmmm, the nicest chocolate selection I have tried in ages.  M&S Swiss collection!  I like ALL of them (except the coffee cream!)
Thanks for your comments regarding children matters yesterday- I really appreciate the empathy.
