Puffed Quinoa Chocolate Bites

My favourite type of cake has always been Chocolate Cornflake cakes. Is it the Crispiness and the sort of mixture of crisps and chocolate? Is it the association with School Dinners which I loved? Is it a harking back to childhood nostalgia?  Who knows, but I love them!

A while back, I decided I wanted to make some plastic-free Chocolate Cornflake cakes but when I went to the Refill room, she had discontinued them because they hadn't been selling. I was sad and explained that I wanted to make the aforementioned treat  (speaking of which, a moment's break whilst I go to the cupboard...)

And the owner suggested I could try using their organic Puffed Quinoa cereal instead.  I decided to give it a go.

Using the Puffed quinoa, a bar of Fairtrade Dark chocolate and some local Essex honey, I did the usual, "heat the chocolate in a saucepan in a bowl of water and mixed the three ingredients and then spooned them into lumps on a baking tray with Greaseproof paper.  Then refrigerated them and bingo- treats for every evening!

Let them eat hats 27- You can keep your hat on!

As it is cold and drizzly, I find myself longing for those halcyon days of sunshine we experienced...

I found this little hat in Tescos in the sale recently a mere 100pennies did it cost! I wore it the weekend of the heatwave when we went up to London. We had a lovely time. CBC had to visit the IoE and whilst he did that, I splashed around in the fountains with all the 2 year olds in Bedford Square gardens (whilst reading a book). We then walked up through Tottenham Court road, Soho stopping in a Vietnamese canteen for tofu noodle soup and green tea (£4 for LOADS!). Then we went off to the Degas exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts. It was wonderful. All his ballet paintings, sketches and sculptures with interesting early moving pictures. My favourite pieces from the Musee D'Orsay in Paris were there- ballerinas in turquoise tutus. I love thinking about what the ballerinas are thinking about and all the different outlooks in the paintings. After cake and tea, we went into Fortnum and Masons opposite to have a look. Seriously expensive but I did manage to find a birthday present.Outside the Royal Academy. Well worth a visit.

Contemplating tea in Fortnum and Masons! Oh and on the way home, we popped into Westfields, Stratford, the highlight of which for me, was the Lego store where I played in the kiddies lego playzone in the centre whilst CBC looked properly with all the other adults. There's a curious symmetry about the day!

I have decided that I prefer a good highstreet with fresh air in between as opposed to gargantuaan shopping centres. What's your opinion?

Do you fancy a new hat? Then visit my GIVEAWAY for the chance to win a lovely ASOS 70'st style black, felt floppy hat! It closes in less than 20 days.
