Back from the holidays! We had a lovely half term.
The funeral was really lovely. The crematorium was full to the brim and there were many people who live-streamed it. We played our music and everyone was very complimentary. My Godmother and Godsister were really grateful and were brilliant. I saw so many old friends and it was lovely.
We spent 4 days in Belgium. More on that soon (I hope- I'm not very good with travel posts!)
We met up with CBC's brother and also with some friends from his previous school (who are also my friends now and bizarelly, one of them comes from where I come from!)
I've had a roaring headache for the past two days which has been really irritating for school but I've ploughed on.
Now onto TARDIS Tuesday. This features an old favourite which I wore to church on Sunday.
Did I really last feature this in May 2021?? Surely, I've worn it since!!!

It features my beloved Clara in her quintessentially 90's-looking outfit!
A ditsy floral dress, navy blazer in jersey, a Barbour Duralinen jacket and some black laceup boots from F Troupe
Here's my 2024 version. It's pretty much the same as the last two times I wore it.
It features an alternative dress from Soulcal which has a similar print and shape plus a New Look blazer alternative. I wore tights this time, as opposed to leggings and I regretted it on the cycle to church- this dress was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too short to cycle in- I had to keep pulling it down as I cycled and wore my Barbour jacket (seen below) round my waist on the way home.
Richard at church, who I often joke with as he often drives behind me and beeps, "Road hog!" at me, commented on my dress and I mentioned I was regretting it. He laughed and said he'd missed that! He's in his 80's and loves making fun of me!
I had an awful headache lasting from Sunday evening to Wednesday morning and I couldn't face a computer screen so TARDIS Thursday it is, instead of Tuesday! I also had a first rehearsal for The Rite of Spring which I am playing with the Orchestra of the City in Holborn on Friday 19th July (if anyone is interested!). It was really exciting! It is such a difficult and interesting piece to play and I am playing the Alto flute part which, to me, actually seems the best part out of all FIVE flute parts as I get solos but none of the dreadfully difficult high stuff! Admittedly, I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have done with a stonking great headache but I did have a nice little treat as I bought a battered sausage from the nearby chippy to eat just before (I'd had some salad and fruit plus marmite on bread) and the guy threw in a little scoop of chips with it which was really kind!
Anyway, onto a TARDIS Tuesday which last featured in October 2021. It hasn't changed since my last two permutations except I switched in some different black boots.
The main element of the outfit is yet another red garment for TT- it's the 3rd week in a row with red as the main feature!
The red dress is from River Island and really needed an iron!
I added a black belt and Clara's Topshop boots from some other outfits. I didn't bother with the SA boots. Considering slowly discarding all my uncomfortable Clara shoes- I already sold 2 pairs!
My jacket is from Barbour but hers is Belstaff. I like this one well enough!
I like this outfit very much and it's a nice Summer outfit- if I wear the dress with leggings rather than tights and sandals rather than boots! I'm wearing a tiny horseshoe necklace which I bought from eBay a long time ago!
This Friday, I am taking my Drumming Club to a interschool festival, this Thursday we have an author coming to visit the school and this weekend, CBC and I are going to Northumberland and Scotland for Chase the Sun North. He will cycle the 205 miles from Whitley Bay to Ayr and I shall attempt it by Pubic transport! Ahrgh! We have to get to Whitley Bay at around 11 at night and then he has to get up at 4am or earlier to get to the start line. YUCK!

My day was good today as my Year 3's had a jolly, well-behaved lesson in which they composed and performed their own recorder roads melodies and the year 2's enjoyed learning about Benjamin Britten's opera, Peter Grimes, listening to two of his sea interludes, Dawn and the Storm and then learning a song with contrasting verses about the sea and creating Dawn and Storm interlude music in between. They seemed to be having a great time!
Oof, I am very tired!!! I think this holiday needs to get a shift on! I missed both TARDIS Tuesdays so I when I realised that for school today, I was wearing a Clara outfit, I figured I should share it!
I last wore this look in 2020 on the blog so I think it is due a revisit after a 3 year hiatus.
It comes from an episode called 'Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS'. Clara's main outfit from that episode is hugely iconic and one of my favourites. This outfit is only in the episode for a tiny moment but it's a real nostalgia trip for me as it's a real 90's look- I used to wear pretty much this outfit when I was a teenager.

I have worn this outfit 3 times now for TT and it really hasn't changed. It's all built from charity shop items. The dress has a ditsy flower print. I think my towel is the most screen accurate part of the outfit- ha! I'm just wearing my Birkenstock sandals with the outfit- I had to get these resoled last Summer after annoyingly accidentally leaving them out in the sun on a very hot day the previous Summer so the glue all melted and the soles all curled up! Luckily, we have a good shoe mender in town.
Yesterday, I was daft enough to leave for school without a coat or a cardigan wearing thin white trousers and canvas shoes. When it came to 6pm and I was off to a rehearsal in Pimlico for Orchestra of the City, I despaired of it tipping down with rain. I boldly knocked on the door to SLT who were having a meeting and asked if anyone (they all drive) would be able to lend me a raincoat. Luckily, my Deputy Head offered me her one. I still got completely saturated on the way to and from orchestra.
I'm rather pleased with my reuse this week.
CBC was ruthlessly pruning our Jasmine at the weekend and he also pulled up all the Nigella 'Love in a Mist' flowers which had become seed pods.
I had a little go at turning the Jasmine into a leaf-circlet for my head and I offered the lady who runs out Lunchtime staff provision the foliage suggesting she use it for an activity with the children. She said yes, so I was I the ridiculous situation of transporting a large amount of long lengths of Jasmine foliage in my cycling pannier. I got vaguely heckled by some teenagers at my local station and I am afraid I went nuts at them! Felt bad in retrospect but I HATE it when teenagers act like twonks in front of their friends to get a laugh. I hope and pray they don't give me grief in the future. I caught up with Liz later at school and she said the children ADORED the activity and loads of children wanted to wear and make circlets. I wish I had managed to transport more of it and wish I hadn't shoved the rest in the compost as there were some disappointed children who didn't get to make one! It was really touching and satisfying for me to see several children sitting wearing circlets in my afternoon lessons!
I also cut 90 Nigella flower heads - 1 for each of the year 1 children. I had promised them some flower seeds for their Spring and growth topic in music if they completed all their tasks. They were SO delighted when I showed them the seed heads on Tuesday and ridiculously excited when I opened up one of the seed cases to show them all the tiny seeds hidden inside.
I cut another 60 Nigella heads for one of our learning mentors who makes dried flower arrangements.
It felt really satisfying to find uses for my children for my garden waste. I might not be able to bring my children to the countryside but I can bring the countryside to them!

Anyway, today's TARDIS Tuesday features a rather obscure outfit from a favourite episode called Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS (was the inspiration for my wedding hair!). Clara wears a beautiful dress throughout the episode and then at the end, she has had a shower and comes out in this outfit- you can see it at 16 seconds in this video.
She wears an extremely 90's outfit consisting of a floral strappy dress worn with a black top underneath, an Aztec eagle necklace and some black stud earrings. We don't get to see what shoes she has on but she carries a dark teal towel on her shoulder.

My entire outside was bought second-hand at various times - a 90's dress and a black top, plus an Aztec eagle necklace (I've worn it for several TARDIS Tuesdays) plus a towel!

Greetings on this sunny Tuesday. I am really ready for half-term. I am finding my young charges increasingly irritating and a break from them would be good. I have a recorder festival with around 45 of them tomorrow evening so a long day tomorrow- plus it is a long way from home so I won't get back till late.
Today's TARDIS Tuesday is one of those obscure Clara Oswald outfits that I delight in finding.
This outfit was an alternative outfit that was filmed but that never made it into the actual episode. It featured in The Snowmen when we see the modern day Clara walking in a graveyard.

I thought this outfit was really pretty. The print reminds me of Mandalas and I like the colour combination. The playsuit is originally from Urban Outfitters, a lot like many of Clara's clothing items in her first series. That is one of those shops I've never actually seen in real life.

As you can see, I found the exact same playsuit. I bought it second-hand, very reasonably, I think for about £8. I found this an excellent outfit for gardening and house work on a warm day. The shorts made this a good outfit for sitting on the grass in without worrying about flashing undies! That said, if I were as short as Jenna Coleman, it would be better as this is quite short of long-legged me!
I wore my Aztec eagle bird necklace with it and added a black top and red satchel, both of which were charity-shopped.
I have mixed feelings about playsuits. They are a great idea for being able to frolic around in the sun without worrying too much about a skirt BUT *whispers*... what about using public loos???
