TARDIS Tuesday A Smile Promo mix?

Hi there,
It's the eve of going back to school! We had an INSET day today. I was doing online training which was painful as everything was so slow- they were all watching videos and everything was buffering so much so it took so long! But it was still lovely not to have to get the train in so I got a bit of a lie-in (got up at 8.15am) and then got to go to my local market at lunchtime (I rarely get to go as a Tuesday and I'm usually away. I bought vegetables without plastic, fish  and prawns without plastic, samosas olives without plastic (I provided all my own containers!) and then some other products from the 'close to the sell by date (which I now realise I AM MISSING something from! Where did it go???).

Anyway, I've given TARDIS Tuesday a miss for a few weeks mainly as I was away, didn't have time to think of anything and didn't quite get around to it.
So I'm back today with an outfit from 10th Doctor Companion, Bill Potts.
It was worn in promo photos for series 10 and features 2 outfits worn in episodes but not actually worn together in the actual episode:

I first wore this on the blog in June 2019 and then wore a variation on it in 2022 from the episode Smile.

As it was so sunny today, it was the perfect outfit for wearing at home:

And here I am:
The bodysuit and reversible jacket are both from Topshop, both purchased second hand years ago and very comfortable to wear. Are they are a weird combination?  Do they go?
I added this sari silk headband which I bought last year in Well-Next-To-The-Sea it sort of looks like Bill's now I compare it.
I also just added my Clarks Funny Dream shoes for the picture as I couldn't be bothered to search for trainers.

Hope all is well with you!

TARDIS Tuesday- Bill Potts World Enough and Time

For today's TARDIS Tuesday, I am certain that I've worn this outfit for TARDIS Tuesday before but I can't seem to find it anywhere on my blog! Perhaps I didn't? Or perhaps it was pre-labels? Or did I forget to label it?  Hmmm, I'm not sure!

The outfit in question is from series 10 of Doctor Who and was worn by Bill Potts played by Pearl Mackie in her penultimate episode, "World Enough and Time".

We see it the images below.

It includes an H&M sweater, a varsity jacket, dark blue jeans and boots plus hooped earrings and a red hairbow.

I was lucky enough to buy the sweater around 7 years ago from H&M in their sale for £4.

I decided to wear this outfit for school on Monday to take my school orchestra to the Barbican to watch the London Symphony Orchestra.

I wore the sweater with black ASOS trousers and some brown boots.  When I tried to consider what I'd wear in place of the jacket, I realised that my Ace McShane bomber jacket, as customised by the lovely Ang, was the perfect solution.  It has the name patch and Bill's jacket has patches on it and was roughly the correct colour.  Quite a few people made comparison with Bill and Ace when she was first cast and her costumes seen. I liked showing this comparison!  The final touch was adding this pair of charity-shopped hoop earrings (50p) I wore for my Donna Noble outfit 2 weeks ago.

This was a comfy outfit for a school trip. We had a lovely time.

TARDIS Tuesday- Bill Potts outfit from Smile

Hi there,

Hope you are well.

Today, for TARDIS Tuesday, I am returning, for a second time in recent times, to an outfit worn by Bill Potts, companion to the 12th Doctor. As I mentioned 2 weeks ago, Bill Potts' style is quite different from my own regular style but I ended up obtaining one or two of her screen accurate pieces very cheaply so decided to give a few of her outfits a spin!

The outfit featured in her second episode which was entitled, Smile. In this episode, the Doctor and Bill ended up in a place that had robots that spoke with Emojis. They seemed oh-so-friendly at first, but only if you keep smiling!

Let's look at her outfit:

https://www.shopyourtv.com/doctor-who-season-10-episode-2-bills-striped-bodysuit/

It seemed a bright and happy outfit for what seemed a bright and happy place.
She began with a colour-blocked stripe bodysuit from Topshop. With it, she wore ripped skinny black jeans (poss.also Topshop).  Her feet featured mint green and white hightop trainers from Vans and she had a bleached colour denim jacket from Topshop (mainly tied around her waist).  For accessories, she wore a mustardy-patterned hairbow and a silver guitar necklace.

And over to my version of this outfit. I did a slight variation on this outfit (from promo photos but there are differences) but this is the first time I have put together this outfit

As you can see, I did find the screen accurate bodysuit.  When I was an early teenager (Maybe 12), I had a bodysuit. It came from a shop in Ilford called Bacon's.  It was a marled blue colour with fitted short sleeves. It was really uncomfortable- the bodysuit buttoning up bit. I thought I would wear another bodysuit again but this one is amazingly comfortable and I like the bodysuit buttoning up meaning the top stays where it should (with my pear-shape, often fitted tops end up riding up and sausaging around my smaller waist.
Ripped jeans or skinny jeans shall never grace this body so as usual, we have my black ASOS work trousers.  These are considerably more snug on me than when I first bought them which I am not happy about. I like these trousers and do not want to have to replace them!
Instead of Bill's mint trainers, I wore my black hightop Ash black trainers (Clara shoes).  I added my charity shopped denim jacket (bought for Yaz originally).
I wore a Black floral wired headband (as I LOST my mustard one out on a walk in Brightlingsea in 2020!) I could not locate my silver guitar necklace so I wore a red glittery star instead.

And that's that! Hope you have a good week. As I type this up on Sunday evening (11.30pm eek- better get to bed!!!!! Bang goes that early-to-bed resolution!), I wish you a peaceful week.

TARDIS Tuesday- Bill Potts pilot outfit with adapted version!

Hello!

I'm back from 9 days in France.  Today, I am sharing an outfit which was worn by 12th Doctor companion, Bill Potts, played by Pearl Mackie.  Pearl's style is not particularly mine but she had a couple of really cool garments that I ended up collecting.

Let's look at the outfit I am sharing today. It was worn by Bill in her very first episode.

She wears a stripy vest top from Urban outfitters along with blue jeans from Topshop with turned up ankles.  She wears black and white trainers.

In terms of accessories, she wears a black cord necklace, a blue crystal shard necklace and peace logo earrings.  You can also see a red hair bow too.
I last made a version of this outfit back in September 2020.

I've made some different choices today.

I started with the stripy vest top which I wore before.  It's a lovely light, woven fabric.  I teamed it with my ASOS blue jeans.  These are jeans I bought for one of my Clara cosplays but they work for this too.  I added a black belt from another dress.
In terms of shoes, I wore these white and black Toms shoes (bought for CBC some years ago but he doesn't like them)
I noticed that CBC's school satchel looked very similar to Bill's one so I added it to the picture.

Finally, in terms of jewellery, I forgot about earrings and couldn't find a suitable red hair bow but added my 1990's name necklace turned around along with a quartz crystal necklace I received in a blog swap.

Once I'd taken these photos, I realised that the jeans were just going to be too hot today so I substituted the trousers for some black linen cropped trousers and added a white broderie anglaise button up blouse to protect my arms from the sun when I walked to the charity shop/COOP/Shoe mender (yessss, a new one has opened in town!)

Much more Summer appropriate though this outfit woud work really well on a cooler day.

What do you think of either outfit?

TARDIS Tuesday- BIll Potts Pilot

Hello there!

For TARDIS Tuesday this week, I thought I'd share perhaps one of the last Summery outfits (nooooooo!!! I'm hoping for a second sunny spell!).  It is worn by Bill Potts in her debut episode- Pilot.  I last wore this on the blog in September 2018- 2 years ago!
Above, is an image of the outfit worn  by Peal Mackie and below, you can see it again:

Here's a shot from the Doctor Who exhibition of it. It features this stripy vest-top from Urban Outfitters, loose-fit jeans and she wears high-topped mint- coloured trainers, not pictured.

Jewellery-wise, she wears a black-cord necklace combined with another necklace featuring a shard gemstone necklace and some Peace sign earrings.

And here's what I wore last Sunday before the sun disappeared and the temperature dropped.

I wore a simple take on it- I wanted to wear navy trousers rather than jeans as they were lighter on a warm day along with the screen accurate top which is from Urban Outfitters.
I didn't go with all the jewellery but I did choose to wear my velvet ribbon round my neck like her black thong necklace.

This was comfortable for doing some light garden work of pruning and the suchlike.

Hope you are well.

TARDIS Tuesday- Bill Potts promo and Extremis.

Hello there!
TARDIS Tuesday has been a little Clara heavy for the last few weeks.  So...today, I thought I would share her successor companion from the TARDIS- the inquisitive Bill Potts

When we first heard about Bill Potts, she was seen in a trailer.  Immediately, lots of people tried to ID and recreate her outfit, very successfully.  Then we were treated to some promo-pics from the series.

Again, many people IDed the items in the outfit quickly and put together outfits featuring the screen accurate items above.  The satin reversible bomber jacket and the stripy body-suit come from Topshop, Topshop jeans and the trainers are Vans.  She also wears a silver Guitar necklace and a yellow tie-dyed hairscarf.

This is probably the most iconic Bill outfit of them all but the garments above don't all feature in the same outfit actually on the show until the episode Extremis.  Bill also wears the bomber jacket several times in the series and she wears the rest of this outfit with a denim jacket in an episode called Smile!

And here's me posing with the TARDIS bird-feeder!

So, as you can see, I found the bomber jacket and the top!  This was an episode I never planned to put together originally.  But, I saw the bomber jacket being sold very expensively on a several occasions but when I saw it for £7.00 which no one else noticed, I ended up buying it- mainly because I LOVE reversible garments!!! I wore it with its pink side here.  The bodysuit was a more difficult matter.  It was only when @billpottsuniverse on instagram told me about a £5 for sale in a size 12, that I caved and bought it!  And I am glad I did as it is unbelievably comfortable without that annoyance I get, as a pear-shaped girl, where vest tops roll up from my larger sized hips to sausage around my smaller waist!  I just wore it with some cropped blue jeans as I didn't want to wear my fitted black trousers for a hot day. To recreate Bill's guitar necklace, I remembered a pair of silver guitar earrings I own and I hung one of them from a different necklace chain.  Oh and tied my hair up in a messy bun.

Admittedly, it is a bit of a strange outfit- I'd never choose to pair these items together but it kind of works.

What do you think?

TARDIS Tuesday- Bill Potts from Pyramid at the end of the world

Hi there,

I somehow missed TARDIS Tuesday yesterday.  I didn't get home late but I somehow didn't get around to writing the post. So it is a tardy TARDIS Tuesday.

This week, I thought I would give Bill Potts, the 12th Doctor's last companion another go.  I have used Bill three times for TARDIS Tuesday now and here's another one.

Bill's style is very different from mine. It is very sporty, contemporary, casual and boyish but with little feminine touches.  The outfit she wore in The Pyramid at the end of the World is no exception.  This was a clever episode which was part of a trilogy of episodes.

I did struggle to find a full-length image of Bill in this outfit so we will just go with a top-half image.

She wears this Topshop reversible jacket (which she actually wears in a few episodes but mostly with the OTHER side of the jacket together with a black ribbed turtle neck top and a nice starry lariat necklace.  I'm pretty sure she is wearing black jeans.

And since the image was quite an easy one to recreate, I decided to do just that!

Me not smiling is NOT a good photo look!
I did manage to find the exact same jacket of Bill's.  I remember when they first showed the trailers for this series, Bill is wearing this exact jacket and so many a cosplayer went out and paid full price for it from Topshop or from secondhand sellers who knew what they had.   I had no intention of buying it since it isn't really my style BUT, I have this curious attraction to reversible garments.  I don't know what it is but I really, really like them and I remember buying a dress full price from Whitestuff because it was reversible.  When I discovered the jacket was reversible, it attracted me and actually, since I've had it, despite it being totally not my style, I really like it.  I bided my time and ended up buying it second-hand for £7.  CBC cannot understand it and is incredibly rude about this jacket whenever I wear it saying I am only wearing it because it was in Doctor Who and it is disgusting!
Aside from a cup of tea, I added an old Primark black polo-neck and black trousers. Annoyingly, I have a really pretty lariat necklace I bought when I was 19 but I could not seem to find it when I was wearing this on Sunday so I wore this butterfly lariat necklace a work colleague gave to me when I left the Royal Academy of Music 14 years ago.  I will never forget this lovely present as she customised a Dairylea cheese box, covering it in an old Academy prospectus and stapling a 3d butterfly to the lid- it was such a sweet present
I thought I'd share the back view of the jacket too- it is embroidered with a Tiger!  At my old church, we are having a cabaret evening on Saturday and aside from my flute trio playing, I am joining in with a Grease medley so I shall wear this jacket for my Pink lady role!

I needed a simple cosy, comfy outfit on Sunday and this certainly provided that!

What do you think? Are you on CBC's side with this jacket or do you also have a soft-spot for it like me?

TARDIS Tuesday- Bill Potts in Knock Knock- Take 2

Hi there!
I hope you are well.  I have had a LOVELY day which I will write about soon only it is TUESDAY and we all know what that means on this blog!
TARDIS Tuesday!

Today, I thought I'd have a go at cosplaying Bill Potts, the most recent Doctor Who companion (apart from the new ones announced for Jodie Whittaker!)
I've actually done this one before- sort of!

It is a briefly-featured outfit from Series 10 scary episode featuring David Suchet, Knock, Knock, in which Bill gets some housemates and moves into the ultimate spooky house!

As she goes to the Estate Agents with her pals, she sports this casual outfit.
I took these photos as I watched it last week so the quality is not great!
She's wearing a Grey vest-top with a French Fries logo, blue jeans, black belt, black cord necklace, a mustardy-coloured tied hair ribbon and some earrings featuring dangly beads, blue feathers and the hippy Peace sign.Oh and she's also wearing some flat black lace-up shoes which I couldn't get a picture of.

As I said, last time I vaguely attempted this, I saw it and thought I had items in my house that would work for it.

BUT, today was HOT and I had planned this outfit.  There was NO way I was going to be wearing jeans (and let's be honest, that's a bit of a rarity anyway!) so I decided to put my own spin on the outfit- making it a bit more girly and summery.
It's pretty similar to the last time I began this but with more detail.
I wore a grey vest-top I bought from Lidl a few years ago when I needed a change of clothes urgently (I always find much-loved items from those moments!) and added to it the Topshop chips patch brooch which was a sale item a few years ago (it came in a pack of six).

I have this mini-denim skirt (also charity-shopped) which I thought was a nice substitute to the jeans and wore a vintage belt of my Mum's (I think!)  and wore some blue suede lace-ups from Aldi (also an emergency purchase when at my Father-in-Law's funeral day, I discovered that all I had with me were Doc Martens!)
Detail-wise, I remembered this mustard polka dot wired hair-tie which I bought a few years ago. I love these and have a few of them. They are good for someone who is a bit rubbish at hair.  Sadly, I actually lost this today at the seaside! Goodness knows where I dropped it!

The black necklace was a bit of a problem and I was rifling through several boxes  before I found this random bit of black cord that was lurking in a hairband box.
The final touch were the earrings.  These feather earrings were a gift from the TA who used to help me with choir about 7 years ago. I added 2 Peace-sign pin badges I got with a multipack.

And that is another 'Found in the house' cosplay-slightly better executed than last time.

What do you think?
x
P.S. If you would like to watch Doctor Who, all of the New Who episodes are currently available on BBC iPlayer and can be watched there.

TARDIS Tuesday- Bill Potts Knock, knock Cosplay

Hi All,
It was fun doing TARDIS Tuesday again last week so I thought I'd try and give it another go this week.

As aforementioned in Saturday's post, I very much enjoyed Knock, knock, the Doctor Who episode from the 6th May.
I wasn't sure if Bill Potts, the 12th Doctor's new assistant would be one that I would necessarily try cosplaying or dressing up as, since her style is very much outside my comfort zone and usual aesthetic.

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, people standing
Image borrowed from Bill Potts Cosplay Facebook group here
However, as I watched the beginning, where Bill wore this outfit (before changing into the dungarees outfit), I was suddenly aware that I had a few items that could possibly look similar.
Items found in my wardrobe.
The feathery evenings were a present a long time ago, you can see they are very faded as they sat on my windowsill for an age. I discovered that I could attach my matching Peace sign pin badges (Primark) if I posted them through the beaded section of the earrings.

Bill's vest-top is from Topshop and has the Chips patch attached/sewn on. Mine is a Topshop patch-brooch I bought in the sale last year. I added it to an Aldi vest-top I bought near school when I was desperate to change my top as I ended up staying at my Mum's and needed a clean top.

Finally, my 'necklace' isn't as cool as Bill's I couldn't seem to find a shred of black ribbon or cord in my house even though I KNOW I have some left over from making a necklace a while back! This is a black elastic hairband!

The finished look!
And then, this is what they looked like together!  I do have a mustard-coloured hairband like hers but I forgot to wear it!

What do you reckon?  Can you see the likeness?

xx
