AHHHHHHH, it's a grass snake!

CBC unearthed this beast from the garden when we was digging the turf for the raised bed! It's a monster and is still holding us to ransom on the patio!

Run for your lives!!!!!!!!

What is it? #71 - More strange tree carvings

Welcome to another round of What is it?  The photographic game where I share a picture which I see a different image in that what is immediately obvious, e.g. I'm seeing something OTHER than a tree here!  Leave a comment with your suggestion of what you see in this image other than a tree!
What about last time?

Well, I posted another tree with interesting markings from the same visit to Thorndon country park.

In these tree markings, I saw a few things. I saw a man's face wearing an eye-patch. His nose looks a bit beaten up and his lips are sagging- he's been in a fight!  Also, I saw a huddled figure down the bottom looking into the pond- he has a fishing rod in his hand and it has just caught an eel! Oh and above him, Jabba the hut is sitting looking down with an empty plate waiting for his fish!

Well, what did the participants in this challenge see?

7 comments:

  1. I see a worm like alien (something like the alien thing that trapped/enslaved Leila in Star Wars) standing next to an UFO. Bellow I see a levitating island of some sorts with the turtle teacher from the Panda Kung fu series.

  2. At the bottom I see a toad with big eyes. At the top is a cartoon cat (like Garfield) standing next to a saucer.

  3. At the bottom I can see a bird sitting on a nest. Unfortunately, try as a might, I can't make head or tail of what's on top. I can see the toad mentioned by Bev too, but instead of big eyes, it might be a crown on its head. xxx

  4. It looks like me staring into the mirror on a Monday morning and one eye just can't bring itself to open. Rough.

  5. The tree looks like someone who had a bit too much to drink, has an eye open and the other one closed, and also has a cigarette in his mouth.

  6. I only see a strange, wonky face in the tree! Though the bottom part of the tree markings (if I ignore the 'eyes' above) look like an apple on a table to me, haha!

Well, there certainly seems to be lots in common with what we all saw. Ivana saw Jabba the Hut, most people saw him as some sort of alien or toad.  Everyone saw the drunken face and other things!
Great ideas everyone- I really enjoyed reading your visions!

So, DO leave a comment as to What is it? in the first picture!

What is it? #70 - Strange tree carvings?

Can you believe I've kept up this practice of taking random pictures of things which look like something else for SEVENTY posts??? No, nor can I!!!
I do like exercising my imagination in this way though and I hope you do too!

If you've not taken part before, the premise is that you have a look at the image I've provided and you see if you can see an image beyond the obvious, i.e. a tree, and you then leave me a comment to say what you see.  Then we get to see if we all saw the same thing or we get to say "Oh YES, I can see it now you say it?" or "Er, I can't see that1" or "Hurrah, we all saw the same thing!".  Whichever, I love it when you join in with this!

I was walking in Thorndon Country Park on New Year's day and I was looking out for interesting fungus on the trees and saw these curious shapes which made me think of something else.  Can you see something in those shapes?

What about last time?
I shared this cloudscape.  As I looked at it, I could see a Triceratops dinosaur or some sort of Rhinocerous's head- it's in the middle and it is looking to the right- it has a hooded eye, big eyegrow and a horn near the end of its nose.  It seems to be glaring at some other, half-formed creature, nose to nose.  Perhaps a poodle?  Even as I've typed this, I can see a black cat's head, half-seen on the left of the picture- it has one point black ear visible, one eye looking balefully at me and it seems to have a little white chin with black lips.

What did any of you readers think or see?  Disappointingly, only three comments, but MUCH appreciated, those 3!
Ooh, Sophie saw my cat though I can actually see that she saw a DIFFERENT cat, curled up uncomfortably in the middle, just as she described!
Bev also saw the same uncomfortable creature lying and craning its neck behind it, but saw an Alpaca which I also see.
Similarly, Ivana saw the creature with its neck at an uncomfortable angle.  She also sees something with horns and a dinosaur and like me, kept seeing all sorts!
I loved seeing your responses!

  1. I'm seeing an angry cat which was laying down and something has annoyed it so it sat up quickly and hence the uncomfortable position and squared neck.

  2. It's an animal lying down and craning its neck to look at something behind it. I think maybe an alpaca or llama.

  3. I see a giant dragon with his head lowered toward his back. It seems to me like he is talking to a chicken that is resting on his back. The clouds right next to him look like a bull and a T-rex. I'm seeing all sorts of things here.

What is it? #66 Clouds at Sunset

Hello! Tis I, Le Klez!
We have another round of What is it on the way.  The sky was glorious on Friday the 5th July and I went outside to take some pictures of it.
Yet, as I looked at these pictures later, I found myself noticing that there wasn't just an image of a cloud that I could see in the image below.
What else did I see in it?  What else can you see in it?
Do leave an answer below in the comments box as to any image you see in the cloudscape below. I love hearing your ideas.

What about last time? I shared this image of my Mum's coat and hat that were sitting at the end of my bed the night I stayed at Mum's house. It was pretty disconcerting to be honest because I could see the most dreadfully sinister looking face with a large hooked nose, sunken eyes and a large mouth.  The man was wearing a beret upon his head and I definitely couldn't go to sleep with that at the end of my bed.  I showed Mum the image and she went and rearranged the coat.

What did my illustrious, kind commenters see?

  1. I see a grouchy face with a prominent forehead, deep set eyes, big pointy nose with large nostrils and a really grouchy mouth. How could you sleep in that room with such a menacing person in there, hahaha.
    Have a good sleep tonight.

  2. Yes I agree with Julia. A French man in a beret with a determined expression

  3. I definitely see a face there, almost a caricature of a face actually, I would say that it resembles either a face of a witch or a grumpy old man (maybe a magician?). At any rate the face looks a bit sinister. I think I would see the face even if the beret wasn't placed on the top of the coat, I can definitely see the prominent nose and mouth. Funny how the coat ended up looking so much like a face, isn't it? On the other hand, it is in our human nature to look for faces everywhere, apparently that's how our brains are programmed. Still, that coat does look like a face.

When it comes to tiny mouse, I don't really see it, although I get how it could look that way but to me it looks like a bud.

  4. It's a witch! I see her pointy nose.

  5. Definitely a grouchy old man in thes style of those flip images *you know the one where one way it's an old lady the other it's a young woman).

  6. An old face (facing right) with a pointy nose. Gosh, once you see it, it's such a strong image.

  7. It's a grumpy old man, with a pointy nose, wearing a beret.

Yep, you all saw it too! How bizarre that the folds of the coat could have so perfectly created such an aberation!

I look forward to seeing what you saw in the clouds.

What is it? #59 - strange markings on the train platform.

It has been a while since my last installments of What is it?, the game where you see some picture and try to see an image in it other than what it really is.
So I was standing waiting for the train at the station near school and I looked down at these black raising markings and they rather reminded me of something.
Here's a few more of them that resembled something else.

Just for fun, have a look at them and leave a comment below on what you think the shapes remind you of. Are they silhouettes of familiar shapes, objects or beasts?

What about last time?

Back in November, I shared this image of a plant growing in my Mum's garden.

The growth in question was a vegetable called an Achocha.

What did the studio audience think it was?

  1. I am useless with plants so it's no good asking me! Haha. Is it some kind of cucumber?

  2. Is it an unripened strawberry?

  4. It looks like some kind of cucumber veggie. I really have no idea. Sorry..

  6. I grew something that looked like this, it was called 'fat babies' or something like achocha, but mine never fruited :(

  7. Are we meant to be guessing the actual plant or what it looks like?! I've never grown them but I think this is a baby cucumber?

Thanks for your comment just now too - glad you enjoyed the frosty pictures... sorry I've not visited your blog much lately - been super busy at the house for last couple of weeks!

Well, there certainly was a consensus on something cucumbery except for Pith San who left the same message on about 20 posts, no matter what the subject. Aha, Second Hand Susie got it exactly right! They are a vegetable called Achochas which are part of the Courgette family from the Andes. You can read more here..My mum had an absolute glut of them this year. They do taste rather like cucumber raw but when you fry them, they become rather like peppers.

I look forward to seeing your ideas!

Clad with bunting

We celebrated CBC's birthday in style by engaging in a jolly country, interesting cuisine pub Incidently, I enjoyed Water Melon, Prosciutto Ham and Feta with Chilli Ice Cream and for my main, Crispy Duck, Mooli, Carrots, Hoisin, Spring Onions, Watercress and Plum Sauce salad. (Interestingly it was the pub where my Mum and Dad had their wedding reception! Weird, I only found that out a week ago or so!)

I spent FAAAAAR too much time NOT doing school work on the Sunday afternoon, instead I made CBC's birthday card. I intend to post piccies of it when I've managed to get the blue-tooth on my phone/computer working (because, though it's not the most immaculate professional-looking or impressive card I've ever made by far, I'm really pleased with it). I ended up making him a card with interactive bunting- i.e. I sewed around 1.5 m of bunting (cut, sewn all by myself!) which he could then decorate anywhere he wanted with (what with the 'royal wedding' and all that- which curiously seems to be the phrase du jour...)

When we arrived at the pub- he decided to decorate ME with it!

In a fairly conservative (in the sense of - we are from Essex, we follow the crowd, we don't do anything that would seem to be quirky. Probably being mean here :-) ) Essex sense, it attracted some strange looks, giggles, (and likely - "One of those strange hippy types," mutterings, considering I was also wearing a sailor cardigan, big floppy hat and a flowery dress. By the way, do you like my sailor cardigan? Please say yes because I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and general banter.

We removed to get a little taste of 'the country' to the nearby windmill, where it seemed I was considered part of the scenery! It's WEIRD being so close to a windmill (but obviously, wonderfully thrilling!)

I decided that actually, bunting is quite a nice accessory to wear (and I liked the fact it provided a landmark for the bar staff at the Hoop pub later on, who when bringing me my pot of Earl grey, was told by the person at the bar who'd served me to, "Head for THE HAT!")

Here's a front view of the bunting, since I am feeling generous ;-)

Later, we decided it was prudent to establish CBC as eccentric genius in his new job by using the bunting for the purpose it was intended- to decorate his car! Tasteful wouldn't you say. Much nicer than that tacky Union flag affair that is everywhere else (hee hee)!

I like this picture below, a) because it presents my cardigan from another angle (it makes me happy! Did I mention I love it?) and also because this is such a ubiquitous Kezzie moment- total ignorance of the camera due to studious concentration on the important stuff in life- i.e. scoffing bread. There's definite rivalry going on between me and N ("Has she had more than me?" "He's hogging the balsamic vinegar!" "Hope he doesn't eat any more." "She's got a big appetite for a girl.")

Speaking of bunting, we are going to be making patterned TASTEFUL bunting in art tomorrow, creating patterns of red, white and blue, which we will string up. We are also dressing up as Kings, Queens, Princesses and Princes. In addition, my choir are therefore giving "A concert for royalty"- literally!)

Better go and find my tiara and my Regency ball gown...
