Harmonious presents!

I thought I'd share an outfit I wore last Saturday for CBC's mum's birthday lunch.

I wanted to be warm and comfortable for hanging around the house at my Sister-in-law's house but also able to go out for dinner.

Let's start with outer-wear.  CBC bought me both this cape and hat on different birthday and Christmases and didn't intend for them to go together but I like the serendipitous way they do!
The base of my outfit was this navy corduroy dress from Quba which my sister bought me for Christmas.  She bought me a size 8 but it was quite tight (in a way I knew would make me not want to wear it).  She said she could get me a different size so I asked if she could get me a 12.  Which was silly as the 8 fitted me but I worried a 10 might not be big enough for me to wear things under. Instead, I now have a rather too large on the top half dress but that's ok- I can live with it!
I wore some leggings from sustainable brand Thought (who used to be Braintree) which I bought in Gaia in Hexham last week- again, I didn't intend them to go so well with the hat and cape but they begged to be worn together!!  The Clement Ribeiro cashmere jumper underneath is another over-sized purchase but I like Cashmere big!
Boots were from Florence and my Nessie necklace from Erstwilder plus Lorelai earrings!

I succeeded in having a comfy outfit, even if the dress is a bit too big! I still like it very much!!

Heart stripe

Hello there mes amigos!
Red and stripes 1
How goes it in the land of life and all? Are you still tucking into Christmas confectionery? I'm swimming it in still but still contemplated the Christmas bargain-aisle in any supermarket I go into!! I've survived a week at school and managed to see the Doctor tonight so luckily have some antibiotics to solve the issue I have been experiencing this week.

It's actually been a fairly positive week in terms of school.  Not everything had started yet so luckily I had a chance to gain a little energy! In our  choir rehearsal, we were learning to sing some parts of Carmina Burana for the choral festival we are taking part in- always fun doing latin with kids!  Orchestra was quite successful, starting an arrangement of Beethoven's Ode to Joy which actually sounded quite good after just one short rehearsal.  It does help that 4 of the violins have learnt the tune already for their violin exam recently!  My dear percussionist was amused but slightly daunted by how loudly she has to play the crash cymbals at the end!  Lessons have all been successful, especially since I have been doing them in a larger room which the headteacher says I can use until she has the money to turn it into a bigger staff room and it has spaces to send children out to practice in so my ears may actually not get TOO much of a bashing this term!

We just went out for an Indian meal and I ordered daal and special fried rice. When I ordered, the guy was like, "Are you not having a main meal?" and I had to explain that I was reaaaaally craving daal!!! I am not all that bothered by Indian meat food but I really like the vegetarian Indian food!!!

The outfit above makes me laugh, more because it's what I ended up buying when CBC and I decided to stop at Ikea, Lakeside, purely because we wanted a Lasagna and cinnamon buns from their food section.  We then decided to look for CBC's Christmas jumper (before he got the one featured) and instead, I came out with the jumper, skirt and hat- oops! Add a cape and boots and I feel like a regular flag-bearer!

I am linking up with Renae at www.Simplesequins.com with her Friday fashion item link.  Please join up with it, it looks to be a fun new link up with the queen of the arm party!!!
