Ode to a turquoise gilet

Turquoise overload

Oh turquoise gilet, how many ways do I love thee?

Let me count the ways!

I love thy bright and beaming presence as I enter an abode

I love thy plush, soft sheep-like lining

I love how soft, kitten-like fur shrouds thy downy hood

I love how thou keepest me cosy when walking but none-too-hot as I enter roasting shops

I love how thou gleamest like a light-bulb in the eyes of yon beholders

I love how you were chosen by fair-knight, without hint or blantant direction!

I love how thou matchest my extensive wardrobe of turquoiseness!

Yes, I do thee love!

------

Heelo- excuse the above silliness!  CBC bought me this gilet for Christmas and has spent the intervening time telling me that I obviously don't love it if I don't wear it all the time- this has resulted in an overstuffed suitcase and of course, the above overload of varying shades of turquoise! It is my favourite colour, hence the assortment of similar coloured garments!

Tomorrow is the last day of my holidays before the return of school!
It is amazing how attractive tidying and sorting ones house becomes when one is faced with the task of school-work!  I have tidied out the medicine cupboard at home which was 3 shelves of chaos and out of date pills and concoctions with vintages dating from 1997 to 2016!  A large bag is waiting to go to the chemist to be disposed of!  Why on earth there were 16 boxes of paracetamol and 5 large tubs of dispersable aspirin, sulphadine in copious quantities I do not know, equally why there were so many packets of Lemsip! Not to mention a legion of plasters and latex gloves (shudder)! The surviving protagonists are dwelling on one shelf now! Many Christmas presents are also now safely packed away and some thank you cards written!

Hope you are well xx

Linking up to Patti's Visible Monday with this bright ensemble!

When I'm supposed to be tidying, I can be found crafting... Part 1

I hate tidying! Well, I don't hate it, but I'm not very good at it as my long-suffering family will attest (and now it appears my Mum has found my blog, I'm quite sure she'll attest to). It's not that I am deliberately messy, but I just have so many other things to do and so many other things on my mind that I just don't notice when I leave my shoes, trolley bag, shopping, music, flute in the middle of the floor.

Anyway, the 3rd week of the summer hols, I was intending to go into school to sort out my stuff, tidy the music room etc and sort out my house. However, the former didn't happen because that was when the riots happened and I didn't want to get trapped at school (it being on the way between 2 major towns) and the latter didn't happen because er- I had some scraps of materials left over from my crafts at the church summer mission we ran.

So I made cards!!! I should point out that virtually all my cards have something recycled on them- this was why I originally began making cards, to make use of all the interesting packaging that just used to end up in landfill! They aren't very professional-looking but people seem to like receiving them!

This is actually a lilac card and all the elements on it except for the heart, pink gems and base card were destined for the bin...

Ditto this except for the base card and red gems- this is in fact some scruff remains from some musical crackers I've been hoarding since I worked in Music Higher education!

Here's my 'going out' anniversary card to CBC. I was really pleased with this. The roses were screwed up to add texture!

This was supposed to be N's birthday card (all scraps from holiday club, cut into neat strips and stuck down. Where it vanished to after taking this photo, I don't know!

More turquoise wallpaper scraps, a ribbon from clothing and the rest, envelope inards!

I saw a Dawn Bibby design in a craft magazine like this- It was much posher, using glam monochrome papers, proper beads and you had to order her card-kit (probably expensive) to make it. I cheapskatedly made my own take on the idea. The blue is actually the insides of another envelope. My mannequin appears to be very broadshouldered- perhaps she's a swimmer!

I was soo pleased with this (except for issues with that front pleat-looks scruffy), the little flower embelishment I made that I took close-ups...

The pearls were made with Pebeo 3D paint.

My biggest challenge to date. When WOMOTM went into hospital, I was in Northumberland without any of my craft materials or tools!! Disaster! Shock horrors, I couldn't possibly BUY a card- that would be just too mundane! So I rummaged in J's cupboards and found the Earl grey patterned teabags box and just in the hallway, a pale blue tissue box which only had 2 tissues left! Since WOMOTM loves a cup of tea, the theme was a given, and it just took a pair of scissors, a prittstick, brown pencil and a hole-punch to make this. There isn't even a base card- hurrah!!!

This gave me such grief. My first attempt at making a concertina flower. Wretched thing wouldn't stay flat! I won't be making this again!

Let them make hats!!!! I saw a design for a hat card and here's my take on it! Don't think I'd wear this one! Bit fussy!

You know me, I like a theme! Maybe I'd wear this one!

Possibly my favourite one of the lot, I thought I'd dedicate this one to Laura and call it- Daisychain dream! All recycled bits except the base card!

Let's not even mention the state of the house after I did this lot!
