What is it? #83 Beer

Hello there!
Hope you are well. Wasn't it a lovely day today?
Thank you for those comments about my poem, it was really nice to get that news.

This week's 'What is it?' is hot off the press. We've just got back from our favourite Thai restaurant and as CBC drank his pint of Singha beer, I suddenly looked at his beer and saw that the foam on the side had left a very distinct image!
If you can see beyond the foam to another image, do leave a comment about what you think you saw. I LOVE comments on this post series so do have a go if you can. Make my day!!!

What about last time?

This was a rock seen in the middle of the River in Alston.
For me, it looked like a cartoon big cat face, a panther or something of that ilk, It's got wonky ears at the top and two eyes, dark triangular nose and white chin!  He looks a bit serious or a bit sad!

What did the commenters see?

  1. That is one very sad face :(

  5. My comment from earlier disappeared! It reminds me of this emoji: 🫤 (maybe it doesn't show up on other phones/devices)

  6. Looks like a cat's face!

A sad face on one of those gloves with the one long finger - like the audience had on Gladiators back in the 90s.

  8. The rock looks like the Twisted Sister logo shape...perhaps the logo wore off, lol?

    ReplyDelete

Well, there was definite mentions of a sad or serious face and even a mention of a cat's face from Bless as well as some other cool ideas!
Yay, well done everyone.
So onto this week's
What is it?

Over to you. Do leave a comment about what you saw...

What is it? #81

'What is it?'

For anyone who has missed the premise, this is a game where I have seen something...be it a cloud, a shape in the cream of a hot chocolate mug, or a spot of mould which I see some sort of image beyond the literal- be it character, creature, shape or something else. I post it and you have to look at it and see if you, too, see something beyond a cloud etc!

I  LOVE this series- I loved it when people saw the same as me or saw something completely different which I didn't see but suddenly see once you describe it to me!

This time we have a cloud I saw when in a supermarket car park!

Do leave me a comment telling me what you think you see in that cloud?

What about last time?

I saw this cloud and saw it as a young bird with a gangly neck leaning out of a nest, reaching down for something.  I did also see that the 'nest' could also be its body too!

What about my lovely commenters (THANK YOU to those of you who played along- you made my day/week!)

  1. I see a cloud bird fleeing from what looks like a bird of prey hovering high above it. What did you see?

    ReplyDelete
  2. It's a flying duckling

    ReplyDelete
  3. I see a rubber chicken!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I rarely see anythung in clouds but thats definitely a peacock in your cup! xx

    ReplyDelete
  5. Anythung? Anything!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Another bird! This time it's a duckling, either flying or running really fast with it's neck outstretched.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I see a person swimming with a dugong!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I see a duck swimming and extending it's neck.

  9. Seal on left hand side and a dancing seahorse on right side 👍

    ReplyDelete

Well, lots of the lovely folks DID see a bird, several mentioned a young bird, Ivana  and Bev mentioned the gangly neck, Sheila saw my nest as a dugong (which I see!)

Hooray!

Do let me know what you saw this time!

Mind the Gap

I was watching a video on Insta about the largest gap at Bank station (can't find the post as it vanished mid read (you can read about it here though) and then recalled an embarrassing incident in my first month of blogging. No one commented on the original post.

Mind the Pigeon!"

I had two embarrassing mishaps yesterday!
1.) I was entering City University for my Gamelan rehearsal and think I held the door open too long, as a pigeon seemed to fly through the door with me. I attempted to sneak up on it as it stood in the corridor looking at me, and then it decided to fly down the corridor with myself in hot pursuit. We reached the stairwell before the music office where it perched on the banister, where I knew all was lost if it went downstairs! I approached it from the other side, and it flew into the computer room, followed closely by myself.... And was greeted by a class of students, I looked at them, and looked at the pigeon who had flown up to the pipe at the top of the room (and who was blatantly thinking "ner ner ner ner ner"), and just collapsed into laughter. I just slowly backed out of the room and made my way to my rehearsal. Wonder where it is now...
2.) Wending my weary way from the rehearsal later on, after a lovely chat with Gamelan friends in the pub, I made the dash up the spiral stairway at Bank, to run to catch the Central line eastbound. We London-dwellers, must all have grown used to the Dalek-like voice which orders one to "Mind the Gap". Well, I must have been away with the fairies, and most certainly DIDN'T mind the gap, and found myself falling straight into the gap beside the train. I looked at the ankles of other late-night commuters in silence, and as someone hauled me out of the gap, burst into raucuous laughter. I ask you, How is one supposed to regain one's self-respect whilst reading a Famous Five book, clutching an R2D2 handbag surrounded by witnesses to such an embarrassing mistake?!

Hmmmm....

Divisive humour

I saw a funny tweet:

"There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator.  Only a fraction of people will find this funny"

I posted it to my family Whatsapp saying, "I am one of those people"

My Dad responded:

"As long as you aren't in the fraction that is vulgar. Boom, boom!

I replied:

"I would never be guilty of such improper behaviour!"

CBC replied:

"I prefer decimal humour.  It's more to the point.  (Except when it's recurring.)

My BiL replied:

"I've told you many TIMES these kind of jokes are not a good ADDITION to your repertoire."

CBC replied:

"There's no need to be divisive!"

What would you ADD to this conversation?

What is it? #79

Hi there!

Well, it was the last day of school today but more of that soon!

I am returning for another round of 'What is it?', the game in which you stare at a picture I took and tell me what image it reminds you of, other than the literal one.

This week's picture comes courtesy of an grim unwashed mug! I accidentally left a bit of a mint leaf in a cup and forgot to wash it, having left it somewhere I didn't see it. A week later,  I found the mug, which had developed a bit of mould! But instead of horror, I was instead fascinated by what a clear image of something I saw instead of a moudly mint leaf.

What is it? What does it remind you of?

DO leave a comment telling me what you think it is! It always makes me smile to see your ideas!

What about last time's image?

Well, in the middle of the picture, I could see the head of a Rhinoceros. It is facing to the right. You can see its snout, ear and eye!

What did my illustrious commenters think it was?

Well, they were a small but much appreciated group:

3 comments:

  1. I see a crab coming into the picture from the upper left side. His right pincher (claw) is prominent! 🦀

    ReplyDelete
  2. I can see two animals again. Top centre, there's a bear, who's looking down at the other animal, which is almost right below him, and which I think is a stone marten! xxx

    ReplyDelete
  3. A dragon - well it's head anyway.

    ReplyDelete

Though none of them saw the same animal as me, they all saw a creature!

Thanks for playing this game!

What is it? #78

Hello there!
Welcome to another round of What is it?  in which you tell me what your imagination sees in the image other than the literal picture, e.g. you might see the shape of a giraffe in the cloud or a house.
Leave me a comment showing what you saw as I adore seeing how your imagination differs or is similar to mine!
What do you see in this cloud below

What about last time?
Well, in this image, on the left, I saw a guinea pig or a beaver with its mouth open- you can see its eye and nose. It is facing another creature which looks like it is spitting out something. It reminds me of a large version of the Worm from the film Labyrinth or some sort of lizard creature.

What did our illustrious and much-appreciated commenters see?

I'm not anonymous, I'm Joy from Joyknitt, although blogger doesn't recognise me even though I'm signed in ! In the top photo I can definitely see a lizard on the left, and on the right, a dog barking (at the lizard, no doubt). Thanks for the fun x x

    ReplyDelete
  2. I should not read any other comments before deciding on my own! I was having trouble seeing anything, but now I see both clouds as lizards!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I think it's a tortoise (left) having a lively conversation with a small dog (right).
Still trying to see the late Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in the previous one ... love your imagination! xxx

    ReplyDelete
  4. I must have been born lacking any imagination, I can't for the life of me see anything but clouds#. Maybe I should come back after a couple of beers! xxx

    ReplyDelete
  5. Aww my comment from last time seems to have disappeared. I saw a bear on the left pictured from above and thought the cloud on the right could be a bear which would make it Baloo the Bear from jungle book talking to Kaa.

    1. Posted too soon! In the new one there's definitely a tortoise or turtle on the left but I cannot of me see anything on the right!

Quite a few lizards or reptilian creatures mentioned and definitely creatures communicating though I like the variation in what we considered it was!

Do join in the fun!

What is it? #75- tissue on the floor

What?!?!?! 3 years without a 'What is it?' post and then we get 2 in less than a month!

Here's the premise of these posts.
I share a picture of something: a cloud, a tree, a vegetable, an object, a fold in a curtain, which bears resemblance to something else besides its obvious form, e.g. a potato that looks like a seal or a cloud that looks like Zeus shooting firebolts, or a curtain pattern that resembles a violin (yes, we've had all those).
Your job is too scrutinize the image and see what YOU see in the image, besides the obvious.
You then share it in the comments.
I then reveal what I saw in a future post, alongside the illustrious commenters and share any similarities in opinions. It's fun to try and see what other people saw so DO join in the fun and leave a comment. I promise I'm not doing some sort of psychological test!  Please do comment, even if you haven't before, so I am not a Larry No-mates in the return to this post type!
Here's this time's image:

I was getting out of bed and I noticed that a rather scrappy and mangled piece of tissue had fallen out of my handbag. It landed on the floor in this position and I immediately thought of something that it reminded me of.
But what is it?
What does it remind YOU of?
Leave a comment sharing what you thought!!!

What about last time?

I saw this cloud and immediately spotted a happy little smiling pig in the sky!
A woman was giving me a funny look as I took this photo. To assuage what ever dubious thoughts she was ruminating on, I offered, "I can see a cloud that looks like a pig!" as she passed. She didn't say anything, just looked, but about 10 seconds later,I heard her call back, "I agree, it does!"

What did YOU lot think?
You did not disappoint me and you kindly offered a bounty of comments!

  3. A piglet walking on his front legs across a tightrope.

  4. I see a dog on top of a smiling pig in the first photo and I see a big dog on skies in the second.
I guess these guys like to have fun.
    Hugs,

  5. I see a pig that's escaped from a hot bath into his pen where it's cold - the steam is coming off him!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I see a pig, too! The cloud above him reminds me of a tooth... or a Bactrian camel!! (I love seeing things in clouds!)

    ReplyDelete
  7. A happy pig! I saw it immediately and then scrolled down and saw that everyone else is saying pig too.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Now this one is a no-brainer, Kezzie. Obviously it's a smiling piglet! xxx

  9. I saw the head of a Scottie dog.

    ReplyDelete
Well, that's pretty unanimous then!!! Apart from the Scottie Dog head from the lovely Fundy Blue.

Can't wait to see what you see this time!

What is it? #74 - The prodigal post returns

It's been almost 3 years since I last shared one of my 'What is it?' posts.
Here's the premise of these posts.

Here's this time's image:

It's a cloud that reminded me of something else. What do you see this shaped cloud as?
Leave a comment saying what you thought!

What about last time?

I shared this cloud in August 2020 from my holiday to the Northumbrian coast.

I thought I saw Steven Spielburg's creation, ET (Extra Terrestial) holding out his magic glowing finger, facing to the side!!

What did our lovely commenters see?

  1. It is a playful dog. It is not seen in its entirely, but the head and paws are clearly seen.

    ReplyDelete
  2. A weightlifter flexing his arm, but it is only his arm flexing. I have a strange imagination !

    ReplyDelete
  3. Ohh now I see it a frog sticking his tounge out !

    ReplyDelete
  4. It's a fluffy dog jumping across the sky :-) xxx

    ReplyDelete
  5. Jan said some kind of creature holding a pipe - maybe a bear.

I see the head and front legs of a puppy.

    ReplyDelete
I loved these ideas!
Everyone saw a creature and several people saw the finger/hand stretching out.

Do join in the fun!
