TARDIS Tuesday remix- New combo

I seem to have stopped sharing many outfits on here!  Mainly because of bad lighting and hassle setting up a tripod! But here's an outfit I put together for the Primary Choir of the year competition that I mentioned in my last post. It's a combination I hadn't tried before and I quite liked it.

I started with this white cotton blouse from &OtherStories which comes from my Clara Oswald outfit from The Woman Who Lived. It usually gets hidden under a merino wool jumper. Today, it was paired with this brown waistcoat which was originally charity-shopped for a 1970's Clara Oswald echo outfit but was then used for a Sarah Jane Smith outfit Revenge of the Judoon..  The claret tights are often used for another Sarah Jane Smith outfit from Invasion of the Bane.

My Cath Kidston skirt was charity-shopped a couple of years ago and it's a firm favourite. The length is perfect for me- not too long, not too short!  Finally, I added in my new Rieker shoes. I bought these in Maldon on my birthday and they are easy to slip on and off. I think, perhaps, they are aimed at an older demographic than myself but I have always been one to wear 'sensible' shoes.  I never forget a lovely blog friend I had from Pittsburgh who used to love my outfits but also castigated me for my shoe choices!  Ah well!
The kids liked this outfit at school as did several adults and if it wasn't for having to hoik up the tights aalllllllllllll day, I would probably repeat this outfit. I'll stick to leggings next time!

I had a lovely weekend in the end.  CBC and I did some cleaning on Saturday morning to early afternoon and then we headed to RHS Hyde Hall for some lunch and a walk round.  I was very irked to find that the Gardener's Rest cafe had a sign saying that "Where possible, disposables will be used due to a dishwasher fault" meaning massives of plates, bowls, cups were chucked straight away.  When I was served, I told the person behind the counter that I felt really strongly about disposables and she gave me a mug of tea and a glass for the juice but our soup turned up in disposable pots and bread on a paper plate. It's annoying.  Surely, they could have just set one of their staff on washing up?
We then dropped into a massive Sainsbury's near there and picked up lots of shopping. We're not so good at doing a regular shop-  we tend to pick things up here and there. Mainly because we don't have a local big supermarket- we'd have to drive. Often, I buy stuff from the Lidl near school.
Saturday night, we played Qwirkle Cubes, ate fish and watched a Netflix series called 'Finding Her Edge' about ice-dancing.
Sunday, after church, I travelled by train to see my Mum. My sister came and picked me up from the station and then she, my niece and I spent a few hours with Mum.  We took her some presents, cards and we all went for a walk. She made us Egg Mayo sandwiches and we had cakes!

I then made my way home, picked a mass of Three Cornered Leek from my garden and froze it into ice-cube trays for the summer!

Apparently, our neighbour thinks the newts came from his pond.  He jokingly said he was wondering why his numbers had gone down.  CBC is laughing about it but they clearly migrated of their own volition!

Hope all is well with you!
xx

The lost Summer outfits of 2024 (rainbow remix)

Last week, I shared a lost outfit from last Summer featuring the rainbow dress and so here's another one I also missed. It's actually almost identical to the one from last week but that I folded the dress top down and made it into a skirt. I also tied my hair into a side bun. I think I prefer this to the dress version.
Here was another list outfit featuring my Laura Ashley cotton jumpsuit (charity shopped at £6) worn with Mallorcan belt and my Tom's Huaraches.

Added white cardie and sun visor (both charity shopped)

Here was another outfit. The circle skirt and belt were second hand and the top with its little boats from Sainsbury's.

Plus my Scrabble necklace and Lorelai LQ earrings.

The Rainbow dress worn sideways!

You always know it's Summer when my rainbow dress gets an outing!  It likes to be a chameleon, cropping up in outfits in new and different combinations!

It was on Sunday, that I suddenly had a thought.

Could I turn the dress sideways, get my head through one of the shoulder straps- could I make it into a halter-neck dress?

After a little experimenting, and one moment of panic, I discovered...

Yes I could!

I discovered, that I could get my head into the hole. Although the pattern matching at the seam isn't great, it still worked!

At the back, I tucked in the other strap so it had a slightly lower back.

As it is a circle skirt, I suddenly thought about adding a tulle petticoat underneath to give it a bit of body and to puff it out.  I added my TARDIS blue one!

A black belt to cinch the waist.  Perhaps a blue one would have been better but I only have turquoise, not electric blue.

I decided to pin my hair up with a flower clip from Bali.

Here's a side view.

I decided to wear my TARDIS blue floral Irregular Choice pumps to go with the tulle petticoat.

What do you think of this new take on the dress?

Do you have any other suggestions for this dress styling?

Amazing Grace (the rainbow dress remix)

It's Summer so it must mean the return of the Madras rainbow checked dress which I bought in a charity shop at least 16 years ago. I've always aimed to style it differently every time it features on me. Here's my last post  and here's the post where I shared 12 different ways I've worn it.  I have to point you in Ivana's direction as she is brilliant at sharing different ways she has worn certain garments and Sheila who loves a flashback to a garment she has worn in several ways

This time, I wore it as a Skirt with a t-shirt I bought at the Christian Resources exhibition around 20 years ago that says 'Amazing Grace on it.  The skirt worked well with it as it picks out all the colours of the flowers spelling the slogan. Added in my Lotus blue pumps.

I've worn this dress is several different ways but I realise I haven't just worn it like a top so that's my challenge next time I wear it on here!

Do you have any ideas for how I can style it?

Leave a comment below and I'll give it a ago!

I had a lovely time with my Mum today.

I got up for church which was lovely and then came home. I ate some breakfast and then I cycled to the station to get the train to Mum's.  I took over some camping stuff for my niece who is doing Duke of Edinburgh soon including my walking shoes!!   Mum made us some lovely lunch of Asparagus Soup (homegrown), then Seabass with salad and then fruit salad! It was delicious!

She showed me her finished cardigan she made from a pattern I bought her. Isn't it lovely!

We saw my niece briefly too. I came home and made some salads for our lunch this week and then made some yummy vegetable pasta for dinner.

Hope you are well.

The return of the Madrass Check Rainbow dress!

Hello!

Hope you are well!

I've had a manic two weeks. Reports, Rehearsals, concerts, Cycle ride supporting and among that, attempting to feed CBC and I and attempt to be a regular human!

Tonight, I finished my reports! Hurrah! I can't believe we only have about 3 weeks left of school! It's gone so quickly and been so crazy.

Happy to have been asked to play flute for a concert of Mahler 5 with Orchestra of the City.  It's fun to add another of the London amateur orchestras to my metal list of the ones I have played with.  I should keep an actual list

School has been another disrupted week what with Eid (takes several days out), Year 6 transitions and then next week, 2 day of teacher strikes. Never have I been so behind with all my plans.

Someone stole my lunch from the fridge today at school! We had had a Year 6 breakfast last week and there were TONS of cheese rolls (like sausage rolls) left. I rescued some last week and put them in the fridge and then put the rest in the freezer. Defrosted 3 last night. They were in the fridge in my own personal glass dish.  They were there at 8.05am when I went into the staff room). By 12.30, they had vanished and my glass dish was in the dishwasher, clean. Bizarre and very irritating!

Cooked a very weird combination of food tonight for CBC and I. He was very sceptical but declared, "I'm really enjoying this! It's a surprisingly good combination. I really thought it wouldn't work!"

It was 'Macaroni cheese pasta bake (posh Lidl ready meal in foil), home grown kale, Roasted turnips, onion scapes and aubergines!

You should know that I have cracked out the rainbow dress again. It is one of my favourite ever charity shop purchases and I wore it in a new combination.

Blue butterfly jewellery.
Mini Primark cardigan

The rainbow dress worn backwards

Charity-shopped Rieker white lattice shoes.

I always know Summer has properly arrived when the dress makes its debut!
I do love Summer- I LOVE my Summer wardrobe!

Hope you are well!

Rainbow dress remix 2

Hi,
I thought I'd share a new outfit I created with my St Michael Madras-checked dress. I published a post last Summer showing lots of different ways I'd styled it and thought I'd try to challenge myself to wear it in a new way that I hadn't done before.

This time I thought I'd wear it as a shorter mini-dress and give it a different neckline.
I tucked the top part in and then wore the waist of the skirt at chest height and belted it it make a shorter, high-low/dipped hem dress.  This was a cool dress for reading in the garden.

I kept the accessories simple, just some Toms sandals and my Nan's crystal flower necklace.

We've been camping in the South Downs these past 3 days and had a lovely time. I hope to share some more soon.

Lots of love and thank you for your kind comments on my wedding outfits.
xx

The Rainbow dress Remix

Hello there!

I thought, after sharing my latest outfit featuring my charity-shopped M&S Vintage Madras-checked dress, that it would be fun to put all the times I've shared it here on the blog and styled it in different ways. To my knowledge, even counting the times I've worn it that are NOT featured on the blog, I don't think I've worn it the same way twice.

I bought the dress back in February 2012 and it has been a firm Spring and Summer favourite ever since.

Let's have a look:

June 2020
On Tuesday, I shared it with the top folded down and picking out the turquoise with a vest top plus rainbow accessories. And of course, rainbow shoes!

Bizarrely, there has been a 3 year hiatus in me sharing the dress on the blog. I definitely wore it though!
August 2016
You can see me in my previous house's garden. This time, I wore the dress AS a dress for Style Imitating Art  but I wore it backwards with the front of the dress at the back to give it a round neck.  Again, I accentuated the turquoise by wearing it with my turquoise Croc shoes from TK Maxx, a turquoise shell necklace from Primark and a piece of tie-dyed rainbow silk from Bali worn as a wrap.

July 2015
Back in yet another home, the house CBC and I first lived in when we were married, I wore the dress for TARDIS Tuesday in a spin on Colin Baker's Doctor outfit from Doctor Who.  On this occasion, I wore the dress the correct way round with the v-neck facing forward and a white pussy bow blouse underneath.  The red spotted shoes were a nod to Colin Baker's red polka dot neck tie.

June 2014
A year before,  I wore it as a skirt with a black v-neck vest, accessorized with turquoise shoes, a silk headscarf and a silver sparkly belt.  And my pink scooter....
Rainbow turquoise 1
June 2014
In the same month, I shared a picture of it worn as a skirt (oh look, there's the belt tie!) with a turquoise embellished vest-top, turquoise and khaki cardigan and teal satin shoes. I've just noticed I'm wearing the same headband from the June 2020 post! A repeat!

May 2013
Back in 2013, I was still living in my childhood home.  I loved this outfit version!  I wore the dress as a dress, but backwards under a low-necked black top so the dress could be seen. A purple necklace and a headband. I miss my lovely childhood garden and those wonderful fruit trees!

February 2013

And here in February 2013, we have the first featured Winter-incarnation of the dress.  I wore it for Style Imitating Art with a black shirt, vintage suede belt, a snazzy pink striped scarf and tights plus those teal satin shoes (a repeat!). I like the styling of this!

July 2012

Back in July 2012, I wore this dress to visit CBC and wore it as a dress but with a white top over the top with flowers and butterflies on it.  Cath Kidston pumps and a nice hat and a bunting necklace!  This was a happy outfit!

July 2012

June 2012

In June, I wore another outfit, which I really love! I wore it as a skirt with a much beloved Henry Holland navy collar top plus some rainbow sandals. You can't see it but I had a rainbow star headband and some balloon-like rainbow earrings which were a present from a colleague.
May 2012

In May, I wore it as a skirt with a navy mesh floral top over it plus lace-up pumps and a rainbow bead necklace.

May 2012
Finally, we have the maiden-voyage of the dress!  At the time, the dress was a little big for me so I wore it as a skirt with a black top and a wide blue belt. Cath Kidston rainbow sweetie necklace, beret and pink scarf and I was good to go!

I enjoyed seeing the dress in all its different incarnations.

Which one is your favourite?

An unusual pairing of non-typical clothes

Has a basil plant ever composed a symphony?
...such is the mind of my husband.  We were arguing as to whether the basil plant has feelings.
He deemed no, I deemed yes!
What do you think?

I thought I'd share this outfit as when I look at it, it is full of items that I wouldn't usually deem to be Kezzie-esque items.  It's amazing what you somehow find yourself wearing something totally un-you!

For example, I am not a very willing or frequent denim-wearer, nor do I do edgy-looking jackets or fitted skirts!
And yet, I somehow have these items and unified them for a Saturday trip to London.
The funny thing is, most of the items originated from Doctor Who, Clara Oswald cosplay ideas.
The denim shirt from TK Maxx was a little nod to 'The girl who died' which I haven't cosplayed yet.  My cosplays are very tenuous and general compared to what I have been following in recent times on Instagram but that doesn't make me enjoy finding items and wearing them any less.
The tapestry skirt is Topshop which I charity-shopped and I wore it here for my Clara cosplay for 'The Caretaker' (and not a bad attempt might I say!). I'd never have considered wearing this skirt shape if it wasn't for seeing it as a potential TARDIS Tuesday item.

The jacket, yep, you've guessed it, was another Clara-cosplay-inspired item.  Next but Charity-shopped.  I'd never wear an Asymetric jacket but when I saw it, I saw it as a possible Nightmare in Silver cosplay!

The things that rendered it more me in this combination- floppy hat (also charityshopped- over a decade ago!), fox brooch (charity-shopped), handmade bird earrings, claret tights
The thing is- I will never be that coiffed perfect individual. You can see from the way my shirt is not tucked in in a smooth manner, the waistline not perfect. Sometimes, I question why I share outfits on here, always worrying either that I look shallow or often think that the fashion-minded blog-friends are genuinely just being kind about what I wear and actually are having a little giggle.  But it is a kind of artistry I guess and I have learnt a lot about using clothes in many different combinations through these blog experiments.  In the past, I would always wear certain items together. But no more. I embrace the remix!
Not sure what I am trying to say here except that you can sometimes end up outside your comfort-zone for some quite funny reasons!!!

Hope all is well with you.

Back but off again!

Yeee Haaaaaaaaaa!!!! Hello wireless! At last, we are online and on the phone! It's taken a while but Talktalk have got us there! (notice the absence of BT. Yes, they had wound us up too much!) We came home from work and though there were a few problems, a useful lady in the call centre sorted us out!!!! Hurrah! So I am here, BUT, I am off again as we are off to the north for CBC's sister's wedding! It's very exciting! Totally different from ours in the sense it's not at a church and is all contained within one building and has more modern band music but it's near the sea, so I hope to get down to the beach, even if it is freezing! CBC, myself and his brother and Mum are performing musician duties with playing before the ceremony (A day like this), the procession up the aisle (Neighbourhood Tunnels), the signing of the Register (CBC playing Debussy and then us playing Benjamin Godard) and Handel's Water Music as she goes back down the aisle. Finally, during the drinks, we will be playing some English folk music (ceilidh style). In this, I have to play piano, flute AND viola! And CBC has his cello as well as piano so we have a lot of kit to take up in the car! Most excitingly, I have the day off school for it! I'm a bit sad to be missing one of my Tudor dance lessons but well, this is more important! I can't wait and am sure it is going to be a lovely day! Most unusually for me, I am wearing a pink dress which I hope isn't too dressy but I couldn't think of any opportunity to wear it as I have only worn it once! I'd like to do a big update, but I am taking a little break out of packing (oh how I dislike it!) and thought I would share two little outfit shots as I love this new dress!! There have been many many days of scruffy galore but occasionally, a nice outfit! I have been fairly restrained in the purchase department but I did buy one really pretty black and white heart dress in Tescos which I really love and have worn lots! It has loose floaty sleeves and a loose skirt whilst being fitted elsewhere, which is a winner for me! Here are two ways that I wore it: Heart dress 2 Heart dress 1 Hello hare! Rabbit necklace and 2... Heart dress 3 And the dress by itself: Heart dress 5 I wish you every blessing on this fine day/night! Love from Kezzie x

Rainbow remix

rainbow remix

Oh remember last Thursday which was SUCH a beautiful day!  Who'd have thought I'd be putting on my winter coat, hat and scarf today!  Luckily, I can ALMOST imagine that this is today if I think hard enough!

I'm not hugely imaginative with this vintage M&S madras check dress but I haven't worn it in the same way twice!  This is the first time you will have seen any glimpse of the top half as it usually hides under highernecked tops!

It was NOT a good skirt to wear last Thursday however, being a full circle skirt as it was VERY windy and I had to frantically grab it and head for a wall frequently crossing the playground as it blew up several times.  My year 1 class found it hilarious (as did several parents)!  Mind you, it wasn't so hilarious when they all (and I) got hit in the face by a load of grit and blossom almost immediately after the first occurence!

You can see from the middle photo, that it did exactly the same thing when I was taking shots. Then whoooooooosh!!!
Top- Miss Selfridge, dress- M&S thrifted, rainbow hair ribbon- from Jille swap, Indian shoes- Kush, necklace- Primark, Earrings- gift from work colleague.

shoes and scrabble

My work colleague always finds me really nice presents- she bought these Scrabble earrings for me a while back.  This birthday she bought me a vintage bakelite and silver letter opener!!!

Hope you are well!

Different approach

Red checks

Hello there!  How was your day?
I had an interesting day.  I had my Key Stage 1 classes today and in both classes, we were learning to play melodies on glockenspiels/metallophones/xylophones:  Andante for children by Bartok in year 2 and a Lullaby in year 1.

The first year 1 class really wind me up, there are so many children in there who just can't/don't listen.  After 20 minutes or so, I find myself getting really annoyed with them because there are constant niggles, constant messing around from different pockets of children! They are little but they are used to the concept of counting in and how to play the instruments.  We got there in the end but how much better it would be if certain children did not need picking out to listen:  We were trying to play G G rest rest. Not hard if you had listened.  But when it gets to the fifth time and child x is STILL playing 4 C's instead of G G, it gets very difficult! When child x finally listens, they can do it first time!
Reflecting in teaching is so important to realise how to improve something next time.  In future, I should get child x to repeat back what I said to play or 'who can tell me what I said?', a staple teacher strategy I know and use regularly but sometimes, when dealing with low level disruption, it's easy to get sucked in. A different approach, a more positive approach in this case- putting it back onto them.

Year 2, playing the Bartok, in the middle section, in the past years, children have struggled to remember and play the tune.  This time, I suddenly saw a new teaching strategy for it- a way to split it up into a way that made sense and suddenly, bingo, the majority could play it! A different approach from me that I hadn't considered before!

The hat in the above picture.  I bought it from ASOS a while back but haven't worn it much as I didn't like the way it looked on my head too straight, whereas most of my big hats are floppy.  Wear it at a jaunty angle and all of a sudden, I like it!  A different approach.

The outfit:  a different approach to this vintage dress I wore in a recent post- different shoes, different cardie, different hat, different tights, necklace  and earrings: a remix: a different approach.

Plus, wearing a coat I love but don't wear loads because it doesn't have a hood and I fear getting wet in the rain if I have walk for any significant distance.  A different approach- bring an umbrella you muppet!

Lent:  a time to reflect and change, try to approach things differently, from a more Christlike perspective:  taking a different approach to things, a better approach, a more constructive approach, a more disciplined approach, a more faithful approach, a more prayerful approach.

These were the thoughts that I thunk!

xx

Cat, mouse and rabbit!

Remember my recent reference to dressing like a teenage girl? Here's more proof!  I couldn't resist this Sylvester t-shirt from Primark - it's so cute, it even has sparkly bits on it, big wide sleeves (I don't like tight short sleeves).  Until fairly recently, I had a Mutley and a Pink panther t-shirt which I adored, but they were just too tight.  I missed them!
That's me being a cat by the way!  (The hat hasn't had its own post yet, but it will at some point!)

And of course, I had to go for Jewellery to match.  Cat and mouse charms!   That cat looks a bit manic at this angle.  "Ahaaaaarwwwwwww, I shpy mousie!"

REMIX:
This weekend, aside from wearing a very glamorous long silk dress for my kids concert (more of that later), I wore it again, in a slightly different way!

More slouchy than last weekend!  Again, I felt as comfy as anything, cord jeans as opposed to cord skirt this time!"
It seemed unfair to traumatise little mousie again so I elected to team Sylvester with my Wolf and Moon Mirror Bunny.  Hmmmm, who would be the predator in this case?  Are cats interested in rabbits?  I'm not sure?! Can you help?!

I'm probably not going to be able to blog at all this week, apart from tomorrow's scheduled post, so catch me while you can! If you leave me lovely messages, of course, I'll catch up as soon as I can and return the love next weekend!!
