TARDIS Tuesday- Ace and the Greatest Show in the galaxy!

I'm camping and have lost all track of the days. Is it Tuesday today?
TARDIS Tuesday tody features an outfit worn by 7th Doctor companion, Ace McShane. I last wore it on here in January 2023

It is from Classic Who and is worn by Ace (played by Sophie Aldred) in an serial called 'The Greatest Show in the Galaxy'. Unusually, she doesn't wear her ubiquitous Bomber Jacket in much of the story which means we actually get a proper look at her top. Like my much-cosplayed companion, Yaz, she seems to wear this jacket ALL the time so it makes identifying the features of their clothing, particularly tops, very difficult!

Let's look at the original:

The Ultimate Guide to the Fashion of Doctor Who

And here I am:
This time, I wasn't going for total accuracy, but a wearable outfit, based on it and what I could find.
I started with one of my Seasalt sailor tops. I haven't actually worn this particular top for this Ace outfit. FYI, it was charity shopped in Halstead, Suffolk a few years ago.

I have a more accurate skirt but I wanted to wear this charity shopped Far Face skirt as it is a bit longer.
Of course, I didn't want to miss an opportunity to wear my Ang customised Ace bomber. Isn't it brilliant??
The Clarks boots from last week and then I added my Luftwaffe cap badge from my Clara Nightmare in Silver cosplay as a nod to Ace's patches.

Also, Ace had a Blue Peter badge so I'm proudly displaying MY Blue Peter competition winner's badge! I won it, as well as an Oscar's Orchestra video for being one of 100 runners up out of 28,000 competition entries. Sadly, the pin fell off ages ago.

TARDIS Tuesday - Sarah Jane Smith and the Android Invasion

It's been a little while since my last TARDIS Tuesday.  I've not been remotely organised at getting an outfit ready as well as photographing it!

Yesterday, I suddenly had a brainwave at creating a completely new cosplay from another one and other items in my house.  I'm not sure what made me think of it but I do recall that @Peribrowncosplayer from Instagram recently posted her version of this outfit which put it in my mind but I didn't think  I could do this outfit because of the colour...

It's worn by Elisabeth Sladen who played Sarah Jane Smith.  This was worn in an episode with Tom Baker called The Android Invasion.

The fact that it features a sailor collar means it is right up my street except for the colour.

https://www.deviantart.com/docbuffflash82/art/Sarah-Jane-Smith-The-Android-Invasion-PNG-882784044

You can see it's quite a distinct shade of pink.  With white accessories- a beret, belt, sailor collar and scarf and shoes..
https://uk.pinterest.com/elizakingteacher/sarah-jane-outfit-ideas/

I bought a white sailor cardigan from Miss Patina recently. It arrived on Thursday (when I was home from school) but I didn't realise it was here as Royal Mail didn't actually ring my doorbell, nor did they put through a card. It was only when I checked my email on Friday evening wondering when the parcel was arriving that I saw it was due on Thursday and had been delivered to 'your safe space'.

It turned out they had put it behind my bins (which is not my safe space and is also exposed to the elements.  Royal Mail are dumb!  The cardigan is lovely and I am super chuffed with it! But suddenly, on Saturday, I realised that although the colour wouldn't be exactly right, I did actually have something that might work for this outfit.

So...without further ado...

Cast your mind back to January 2024, when I debuted a new cosplay of classic Who companion, Romana played by the delectable Mary Tamm which happened because I found bought a salmon-coloured pair of trousers and a shirt in my local charity-shop (I'm still super proud of this as I've never seen anyone else attempt this outfit!)

I realised that I absolutely could make this work.  Unfortunately, I couldn't be bothered to iron it which I probably should have.
I layered my new cream sailor cardigan (which I had worn for church on Sunday morning) under the salmon shirt. Next, I found a stretchy cream belt and turned it backwards so the clasp was at the back (actually though, hers seems to have a dark clasp like mine) I rolled up all the sleeves.
I didn't really have any suitable shoes but my Clarks funny-dream are light so would do the trick.
For my version of her beret, I took my Accessorize mohair baker boy hat and turned it round so it resembled a beret.
The white scarf proved a problem as I couldn't find my one anywhere (one I bought for my Helen of Troy world book day outfit) and didn't really have anything else.  Then, I remembered that I have detachable sleeves from my white cycling jersey which I tied in a knot and tucked into the top of my shirt. Any false move and they would be falling!

And that's my complete, rather-creased, outfit! Although it's salmon/apricot-hued rather than pink, I think it does the trick!

What do you think?
On the subject of Sailor collars, last year, I bought an orange gingham sailor collar top from Primark which I was delighted by but it seems sailor-collars are a thing this year- I've seen them in several shops including Next and M&S.  If you want to see how much I love a sailor collar, you can explore my previous outfits here

Much love to you.

TARDIS Tuesday and kitties

Hello there! Greetings from my Mum's garden! CBC and I went over there for lunch today.  We had our usual customary walk around her beautiful garden to admire her prowess at growing food and flowers and then we walked to the marina to try out a new cafe called Shell's cafe.  It was really really nice with a good selection of food and nice shady tables with amusing paraphernalia on the walls of the garden.  We then walked back to her house but sadly, the sole of one of my shoes completely came off so we had to make it a shorter walk than intended.  RIP these shoes- I love them so much- so comfortable. I bought them from Primark at least 19 years ago so they have had a good innings- going to see if I can glue it back on though. We played with her kitties, drank an intriguing glass of Black lace elder and rose cordial and then headed home via the garden centre where I felt sorry for a manky-looking Erysimum Bowles plant which I bought for £2 and CBC bought some extra stones for the pond, the main reason we went there.
Onto my TARDIS Tuesday outfit. Last posted in June 2024, I am featuring Sarah Jane Smith's final outfit from her days as Tom Baker's companion in the episode, The Hand of Fear, which the wonderful Ang Almond adapted for me 2 years ago or so! (See here the post where I debuted them with explanations of what adaptations she did)

And here's my 2025 iteration of these in Mum's garden!

I wore my same Joe Browns red top which I found in a charity top last year and was pleased as it was the perfect top for this outfit (AND others!). My beautiful dungarees which Ang customised and the aforementioned spotty pumps- not really screen accurate but I saw them in my cupboard as I was dressing and fancied wearing them...
Can you see someone poking out my pocket?

It's Mini-Owl! Sarah Jane holds a stuffed owl with this outfit as she leaves the TARDIS and CBC told me I looked like a Children's TV presenter in this outfit as I dressed and said I needed to fill those pockets so I obliged with Owl...who I knew I could get out easily for photos! We also have Mini Squirrel!

Here in the customary pose! Can you see the sole flapping on my shoe.  That's the one that STILL has its sole!

Had to have a play with darling Bramble

She has a thing about shoes. Has to put her feet into them and then have a rub and sniff around them.

Rowan has a thing about bags...

He had a lovely time playing with my rucksack after investigation.

Until she decided to get involved...

She then attacked the side ties on my dungarees and sunk a claw into my derriere as she attempted to vanquish the dastardly bow!

We had a fun weekend before this with a day spent with CBC's brother and then the Sunday spent with our friend Nath at the beach and out at the pub for dinner after a trip to a garden centre. More on the weekend anon.
Yesterday was largely spent at home.  I peeled, chopped and cooked 5 large containers of apple, blackberries and raspberries for the freezer and then watched Wednesday after an omelette and vegetables.
I ADORE a me-cooked cheese-omelette!!! It's the ONE thing where I prefer to cook it myself!

TARDIS Tuesday - Romana Warriors Gate

http://www.4thdoctorcostume.com/2015/06/lalla-wards-time-capsule.html
Hello there!

Time for TARDIS Tuesday!
I unexpectedly ended up wearing this for school on Friday so this ended up being my TT outfit for this week.
I wore it relatively recently for TARDIS Tuesday about a year ago. It is the last outfit worn by Romana, the Time Lady companion portrayed in her second incarnation by Lalla Ward, one time wife of her Doctor, Tom Baker.

https://doctorwhoworlduk.com/romana-2-gallery

The look is mainly red and black. Here I am :

I wore the red top with some loose black Seasalt trousers (bought last Summer from their eBay outlet after ripping my regular black trousers in a cycling fall.

I added these black Rieker ankle strap shoes which I charity shopped last year and then added these red Primary socks plus some red pencil earrings, a present from my current Headteacher well over a decade ago when we used to share a class!
I do love red and black together. I'd love Romana's actual top it looks so soft and flowing - mine is little more scratchy - but it has the effect!
There are so many beautiful Romana looks I'd love to try! Anyone got a grey smock sailor dress at all???

Went to the first rehearsal of one of my orchestras tonight (Monday) - I'm playing piccolo and luckily it went OK and there are no massive scary piccolo moments for the conductor to terrorise me on.

My main orchestra, Kensington Chamber Orchestra has its concert this Saturday. It's a bit of a Girl Power concert. We have a female conductor, a female violin soloist and we are playing a symphony by French composer Louise Farranc. Very cool! More details available on request! Or you can look at our website!!

TARDIS Tuesday- Peri Brown from Mindwarp

Today's TARDIS Tuesday last featured in May 2022 and features one of my earliest TV memories. It was an outfit worn by 80's companion, Peri Brown, played by Nicola Bryant.

Let's have a look at what is quite a pyjama-y look:

https://archivetvmusings.blog/2014/10/26/now-i-am-she-alive-within-this-oh-so-wonderful-wonderful-frame-doctor-who-the-trial-of-a-time-lord-mindwarp/

Here's my 2024 Mindwarp rendition:

I'm going to start with the newest item in this outfit which actually won't be residing with me much longer. This kimono came from a charity shop in Chelmsford, originally New Look. The one I wore for my previous version of this Peri outfit was also from New Look and charity shopped.  Last Summer, we went to see CBC's friend who was over staying with her mum from Sweden and I wore that kimono.  She admired it and asked where I got it from. I told her where it was from and where I got it.  She mentioned it looked lovely for the Summer. I stored that information in my mind.  Hence, when I saw this one in the charity shop for £4, I remembered her admiring it and decided to pick it up for her as I knew she is back in July and CBC would be seeing her (they are going to see Frozen together but I can't go because I am performing the solo flute part for Bach's Brandenburg Concerto no. 2).  This weekend, I finally did my Summer wardrobe swap over and got the blue linen trousers out (which Ang fixed for me last Summer!) I saw the kimono folded in the spare room, lying on the bed and figured, I should wear it just this once for TARDIS Tuesday.

Along with a pink top I bought for another Peri cosplay and the aforementioned linen trousers (which I IRONED!) plus my actual kimono cord as a belt plus some Aldo heels and I was ready to go.  It's a nod to the original look rather than a direct recreation but I like it! It's very much 80's bold colours and patterns.

This week is very busy. I have 4 performances of Chicago with CBC as well as various Treasure Island practices at school and then a Sunday morning rehearsal of the Rite of Spring plus CBC's Mum is coming to stay to see Chicago so now the mad frantic clean and tidy of a very, very messy and dirty house must ensue!

I hope your life is less frenetic (and hopefully cleaner!)

TARDIS Tuesday- Sarah Jane Smith's Andy Pandy outfit!

Hi!

It was lovely to have a week off from school but now back to the grind...pity the weather wasn't fantastic but we had a lovely Sunday 15km walk with friends with a great lunch so I really enjoyed the ending!

Let's get onto the main event.

Today, I am featuring another Classic Who outfit from Sarah Jane Smith and it is one, featured for the first time, last year. Last time I wore this on here was June 2023.

I've added a few extra images that I didn't include last time.
If you were here a year ago, the wonderful Ang Almond, blog friend and genius adaptor of garments took a simple jumpsuit for me and transformed it into Sarah Jane's Dungarees!

The outfit has had one of two adaptations which I thought I'd note.
Firstly, when I was in Hexham last week, I found a more suitable top in the charity shop for £6. Last time I wore a thicker jumper and then a knitted short-sleeved jumper but the Joe Brown top I am wearing this time is much cooler and more of a match for the original. The previous two tops were not really wearable in the Summer.
I also wore my Red and white Toms espadrilles this time- they are less accurate than the Clara shoes I wore last time but I wanted something more summery.
I didn't wear a headband last time but I realised I had bought a Fairtrade one last Summer in Alnmouth that would work well for the outfit.
When Sarah leaves the Doctor at the end of the episode, she has all her belongings from the TARDIS including a cuddly owl.  Annoyingly, there used to be a similar owl in the loft at WOMOTM's house but it was chucked out before I could rescue it when he died.  Luckily, CBC was a big owl fan as a child (and still) and I just borrowed Mr Owl for these photos! He's an 80's owl rather than a 70's owl.
CBC asked me why Owl was downstairs and gave me a rather nostalgic description of how soft his fur was once upon a time. It was really endearing! He loved that Owl!

Hope all is well with you and you have been having a good week.

Did any of you watch Doctor Who, Dot and Bubble this week?

It was a very effective episode in my opinion and a rather cautionary tale about the dangers of absorbing ones self too much in Social Media as well as a horrible take on the vaccuousness and danger of a very inclusive and racist undertone that social media can have if you aren't aware of it.
Poor Ricky September- he was really nice. The only nice one in the episode.

TARDIS Tuesday - The Horns of Nimon Romana

Hi there,

For TARDIS Tuesday, I am featuring Romana for a second week.  Mainly because, when I was putting together last week's look, I spied a garment in the cupboard that reminded me that on my 'To do' list for TARDIS Tuesday was this look from Romana in an episode called 'The Horns of Nimon'.

This is one of Romana's more Doctory looks!

 d4-5l-108

 https://theultimateguidetothefashionofdoctorwho.wordpress.com/2017/10/19/romana-ii-the-horns-of-nimon/

It's a great look which has very equestrian vibes and is again, part of Romana's common palette of white and red!

I decided to do a closet cosplay of this, e.g. none of the items are actually obtained for this outfit but  I had anyway.

It's very much an approximation but hopefully, a nod to the original.
I started with the red jacket.  It's a slightly different shade and shorter. It came from Primark and I bought it about a decade ago.

The next garments I selected from CBC's wardrobe.  His Darcy shirt came from the Regency Shirt Co. and I recently discovered that Paul McGann wore this same shirt for his 'Night of the Doctor' 50th anniversary outfit.

I then grabbed his waistcoat he bought for his Newt Scamander outfit for Harry Potter night at his school.  I've used this same waistcoat for 2 of my Yaz Khan outfits as well as wearing his entire Newt outfit for World Book Day.

I knew my eYe Boutique boots would be fine for the boots but the trousers presented me with a problem. I had white linen trousers but they were too baggy. Leggings were too tight so I remembered this pair of mink coloured bamboo trousers that Mum bought me a good few years ago. These have always been an awkward item in my wardrobe- not a flattering colour OR shape for me but they've sort of survived in my legging bag.

So that's the entire look!

If I could wear better trousers, I'd wear this outfit for school but those trousers will never be seen in public!!!
What would you do to improve it?

Hope all is well with you!
xx

TARDIS Tuesday- Romana's swansong look from Warrior's Gate

Hello there!

For TARDIS Tuesday this week, I am debuting a new outfit AND it's another red one!

It features in my favourite Classic Who companion, Romana's final serial called Warrior's Gate.

Romana had a real eclectic, costumey set of outfits in her wardrobe and her style is very much up my street!

Today's one is quite different from her usual look but not her usual colours:

Here's the designer's initial drawing of the outfit:

http://www.4thdoctorcostume.com/2015/06/lalla-wards-time-capsule.html

https://aminoapps.com/c/doctor-who-cast-crew/page/blog/romana-iis-outfits-ranked/6qpR_leSzukZwpj3n1ZVGYpKqKDpLlg15

As you can see, she wears matching red socks to go with the top and black Mary Jane shoes to match her black trousers.

https://doctorwhoworlduk.com/romana-2-gallery

The high-necked, almost Mandarain look blouse has covered buttons all over it- I hope there's another way to get in and out of it as otherwise, that set of buttons would take a LOT of time to do!

Here's my look!

I started with a high-necked top from River Island (bought from Vinted) which has lovely flowing sleeves. It's not my usual top silhouette but is really comfortable.  Although I didn't have identical coloured socks to accompany it, at a distance, they seem to match.  I wore these socks for my Romana Shada outfit too!

My shoes are from Clarks and are T-bar shoes but I tucked in the  T-bar and kept the ankle strap part.

You can see those lovely sleeves in this picture (which is a behind the scenes picture from @doctorwho_60s_70s_80s

Couldn't resist trying to (VERY BADLY!) recreate this picture!  Ha, ha, how bad is my editing!!! The MS Publisher equivalent of using Paint program!

The silhouette of this look, for me, is very much, Female Conductor! I feel like I've seen female conductors wear something similar in different colours! I would wear this for a choir performance when conducting or leading them!

I recently watched this on BBC iPlayer for the 2nd time and I enjoyed it but there was a lot of to-and-froing plus I thought the way Romana left was very abrupt!!!

What do you think of this look?  For a lot of Who characters, they find this look kind of boring but I like the thought of this being in silk!

xx
