TARDIS Tuesday- Guest post from Vera

Hello!

Hope you are well!

I thought it would be fun for this week's TARDIS Tuesday to hand over to a guest poster today.

But what have they chosen for their cosplay?

Have you ever wondered what is inside a Dalek?  Well, it's a mutant. Skaro, plant of the Daleks was the home of the Thals and the Kaleds.  They ended up in a very long war between the two races which went nuclear.  Due to radiation, the Kaled race started to mutate and their ruler, Davros created a Mark 2 travel machine for their mutants to travel in.  For some inexplicable reason, he decided to rearrange the letters of Kaled and called them Daleks.

Well, this is what a Dalek has inside.

Image borrowed from Quora

And here is my guest poster's cosplay of a Dalek/Kaled mutant:

Yes,this is my Aloe Vera- the original beast who is cosplaying today! All her babies, all around the house are now in awe of of their mother.  Give her some love!

Floral and fluff

Behold my outfit worn for my niece's 13th familybirthday party. Yes, she is that old! Shocking!

My sister has done a family birthday party at their home every year since her 1st birthday except for 2020. It's a lovely occasion as it is the only time that my entire blood family is together including my mum and dad and stepmum. I do hope that K continues to love having this family party.

I decided to go comfy as well as smartish.

Today was the day I got my massive suitcases out of the spare room cupboard and swapped over my Summer clothes for Winter. As I did, I spied this Next x William Morris dress which I found in a charity shop last year.  Unlike the H&M collaboration, I quite liked the look and feel of this material (it's Viscose but feels nice). It's got big bell sleeves and shirred cuffs. Leggings and stripy socks and then my 70's sheepskin gilet plus Just Sheepskin  Ugg-style boots for maximum cosy!

Some big wooden and foil earrings from Esoteric London and my Alex Monroe daisy loop necklace and I was comfy but felt slightly dressed up!

It feels good to have swapped clothes over so I can play with my Winter clothes and see if I can see what works and share anything that doesn't with others.

Past me from Last Christmas thanks me for having grouped all my Christmas themed clothing together in the suitcase so it was easy to access. Present me thinks the big blue suitcase is a TARDIS in disguise as I fitted SOOOO much Summer clothing into it!

Hope all is well with you!

Advent 1 - doesn't have to look perfect or be the same.

Advent is a time of preparation. A time for excitement to build, a time of anticipation.

But it doesn't have to conform or look like anyone else's.

Comparison is the thief of joy and doing your best and doing what is right in your financial, physical, mental and emotional situation is the most important thing.

It's funny but although Christmas 2020 was a sad time in terms of not being able to spend Christmas with our family and do all the exciting things we would like to do, I actually liked being at home with just CBC (he maybe not so much!) , even though it was not a Christmas I am/was used to.

My Advent is a little different this year.

I am not singing/playing at my usual Carol service today (My old church is doing one later in the park!) but I am going to take part in my new church's carols on the green.

I don't have any of my usual performances this year, but I have said yes to a gig singing in a harmony group at a wine bar in town!

My usual school carol services are not at the usual church I have taken the children to for the past 16 years except for 2020, but I am going to get to go to my old church before I got married instead.

I haven't prepared or bought lots of presents already.

We don't have a tidy house or lots of lovely decorations.

But, the fundamentals of Advent will be there. Preparing for the coming of the Messiah and that is always exciting!

Recycled Materials Advent Calendar Craft activity

***EDITED!!! Sorry, not sure where the photos vanished to!!!!***

I saw the most wonderful craft activity for making your own Advent calendar of sorts on Instagram from a maker called Amber Lu who posts at @tulips_and_a_toolbox . It involved constructing your own cardboard forest of Christmas trees with a wooden base. I was itching to give it a go and decided to adapt it so you don't have to use wood IF, like me, you are not handy with a saw and wood or don't have the money to spend on a piece of wood. I really recommend the maker as there are loads of eco-crafts on there!

I wrote my own instructions for my neighbour to follow with their kids as I adapted the idea slightly to give measurements etc, but remember, this is not my idea and I was able to follow her post with very limited instructions from the very clear pictures she shared!  My instructions are probably very over complicated but I thought it might be a good reading and doing activity for the kids at school!

 Materials:

  • Cardboard box
  • 24 cocktail sticks (possibly only 21 as you are cutting some in half)
  • Black thin felt tip pen
  • Glue (I used PVA)
  • Brown Paper tape (or decorative tape)

Making your trees

1.  Cut a rectangle- one side from a cardboard box. Be sure to remove all labels and avoid printed parts.

You can adjust the dimensions to make it smaller and larger as you see fit or to match your box size but I found a rectangle with a width of 14/13 cm was good.

2.  Measure 6cm along the length (long edge) and mark it with a pencil line.

3. Now draw a line to the other side of the box. You have a rectangle that is 14cm x 6cm.

4.  Half way along your 6cm width, mark a pencil mark at 3cm.

5. Draw  diagonal lines connecting both corners of the other end of the rectangle with that pencil mark. You should now have an isosceles triangle.

5.  The same end where you drew your 3cm pencil mark, mark 3cm along that edge of the rectangle you have drawn.

6. Connect that mark with a diagonal to the  bottom corner of your rectangle at the other end. You now have 2 identical isosceles triangles that share a diagonal edge.

7. Continue to make more rectangles in the same way until you have 6/7 of them.

8.  Repeat these previous steps but this time using a rectangle strip that has a 10cm width. Your triangles can also be 5cm instead of 6cm long in total (mark2.5cm along for the half way) . Make 6/7 of them.

9. Repeat these steps but this time with a  rectangle with a width of 8cm.

10. Repeat these steps but this time with a  rectangle with a width of 6/5cm.

11. Cut out your triangles. Discard the very end pieces that are not isosceles triangles.

12. You should now end up with 24/28 triangles of 4 sizes. (I made extra just in case)

13.  Take a triangle and using a black felt tip or fineliner and draw a straight border around the edge of each triangle around 4-5mm from the edge. Do the same with all your triangles.

14.  Now decorate the inside simply with dotted lines, lines, circles, line, dots, in various repeated patterns. Try to achieve as much variety as possible but keep as neat as possible.

15. You might notice I did make a couple of Christmas tree shapes rather than simple triangles. Do if you feel you can make symmetrically and cut easily. (harder with small kids)

Making your base stand

16.  Cut 2 rectangles 30cm long by 15cm wide. (Feel free to make your measurements longer than mine. I probably could have been a little more generous with mine although I do like the crowded nature of my forest. E.g. make it 40cm long and 15cm wide.)

16.  Glue them on top of each other to make a double thickness base and then use either brown paper tape or decorative tape to make a border around the edge that covers up the rough edge of the cut cardboard and goes just over the top and bottom layer.

17. Start with your tallest trees. Lay your trees out in a row along the length to check that they will fit along the length of the board when standing side by side without overlapping.  Check you are happy with the arrangement.  Keep them in this row whilst doing the same with all the other sizes.

18.  Now, on the back of each tree, number them from 1-24 in pencil for the moment.

19.  Draw 4 light pencil lines that are equidistant along the length.

20.  Lay out your flat trees in order along  your first row and mark a darker pencil dot where the middle of each triangle base is. Make sure they don't overlap. Do the same for the trees in the other rows.

21. Use a large safety pin to make a hole where all your marked dots are.  Wiggle the pin around to make sure it makes the hole a bit bigger (Big enough for a cocktail stick to go through happily but not fall over).Make sure you go through both layers of cardboard.  I used a double piece of funky foam to ensure I didn't make a hole in my table!

22.  Mark on the numbers by each hole. I use a black fine-liner and made my numbers like calligraphy. I marked mine from front to back but in retrospect, when I started putting the trees, I think it would be nicer to start with the back row as the first numbers so you get to see all the trees face on completely before the next row goes in front.

24. Number your trees in black pen right at the top of each tree tip in nice letting (not too big!)

Adding cocktail sticks to trees*( you could do this after you make the trees but I waited to check my measurements)

25.  Now use paper tape to tape cocktail sticks to the back of each tree.  Start with the back row trees Check you are happy with the height of them.  They need to be the tallest so they have the most stick showing at the bottom. Make the next row of trees a bit 'shorter' by how you position the stick.

26.  For your front row, cut your cocktail sticks in half and keep only a little of the cocktail stick showing at the bottom.

27. Check that all your trees will go happily into their holes.

28.Now gather up your trees into a small basket, bag or tray and lay them nicely beside your base.

29. Each day of Advent, add a tree to your forest. Feel free to sing Christmas tree themed songs or carols! You could even write one in tiny letters on the back of each tree to sing. By the 24th December, you will have a forest.

30.As an optional extra, you could cut out a golden shiny star on taller skewer and make a hole for it above your Christmas tree height as an extra for Christmas day!

------------------------------------------------------*****---------------------------------------------------

I was so pleased with my Advent calendar and cannot wait to use it in December.

The thing I liked most about this was that there is no plastic and the majority of the craft is reused cardboard box. 9 of my cocktail sticks were from eating olives in a restaurant (I made CBC and I only use ONE and kept the rest for this craft!).

It would be nice to make a little drawstring fabric bag to keep this all in for next Christmas.  Haven't quite thought that one through yet!

TARDIS Tuesday- Yaz Khan's outfit in the Tsuranga Condundrum

For TARDIS Tuesday this week, I needed a cosy, comfy outfit for a cold, rainy Saturday! I knew just the one that hasn't had an appearance on here for two years.

Last featured in December 2020,  I am featuring an outfit worn by Yasmin Khan in a series 11 adventure called The Tsuranga Condundrum. It was set mostly on board a space hospital ship. Yaz was dressed for being outside on a salvage planet. The 4 travellers accidentally step on a mine and get severely injured so they are picked up and taken on board a space hospital towards Tsuranga. Unfortunately, the TARDIS has been left behind and a sinister creature which eats all known matter has somehow got on board and is very hungry. It's a silly episode but quite entertaining.

Let's look at the outfit:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06q81wy/p06qls32
https://www.blogtorwho.com/doctor-who-the-tsuranga-conundrum-what-we-learnt-about-the-companions/

It features a navy starry and moon-themed jumper from Maison Scotch, a Barbour (I think) red puffer jacket, blue fitted jeans, Burgundy Brogue chelsea boots from Dune.

Last time I put together this outfit, I wore a purple puffer coat, black trousers and navy trainers together with the same sweatshirt.

What happened this time?

The outfit has changed a bit.

Let's start from the top. I am still wearing the screen accurate Scotch and Soda sweatshirt which is lovely quality and extremely comfortable.

I acquired a burgundy down-filled puffer jacket from Barbour, second hand. It is immensely soft and comfortable. Not 100% screen accurate but gorgeous to wear!

There are not many good photos featuring the outfit clearly in its entirety, but I decided to try to recreate some of them.

You might notice I am actually wearing blue jeans. They are relatively skinny-ish. For me, anyway.

I have real issues with jeans and my shape. The only ones that usually work for me are more wide-legged and high-waisted. The ones I have are indigo.

However, I was in the Baptist charity shop on Saturday morning and I noticed this pair of M&S blue jeans in size 10 that had elasticated sides at the waist. They were skinnier than my usual jeans but not skinny jeans and also slightly thinner, softer material than regular jeans.

For £3, I decided to give them a go and I was really pleasantly surprised. The elastic means they fit my waist. Admittedly, they are a bit too short for for my long legs. However, I really don't care about this. Teenage Kezzie would be howling at me right now- it was the ultimate faux pas to wear jeans that were too short and I always had issues finding them long enough for my legs. Tough, little Kezzie, tough!

I was doing some lovely Christmas crafts involving cardboard on Saturday night and I couldn't resist having a go at recreating whatever this thing is!!!
I had a blanket on my knees in the kitchen and thought I'd just recreate this photo.

You can see my boots peeping out. I obtained the Screen Accurate Pacey boots in Burgundy a while back so these complete the outfit.

It's funny how bright red her coat looks in lots of the photos but how dark in others!

What do you think? Would you wear any parts of this outfit? Too boring for you?

The Crystal Maze Experience- London

Last Christmas, my Stepmum and Dad bought CBC and I a really cool present together with my sister and her boyfriend. A voucher for us to visit the Crystal Maze Experience in London.

For a child of the 80's/90's, this is the ultimate excitement!

In case you don't know what I am talking about, the Crystal Maze was a game show which began in 1990.  The premise of the game was that a team of 6 were quickly hurried through four adventure zones by a Maze-master.  The four zones were The Medieval zone, the Industrial zone, the Futuristic zone and the Aztec zone. In Later series, the Oceanic zone replaced the Industrial Zone.

In each zone, the team's elected captain was asked to select the type of game they wanted to play:

Physical, Mental,Skill or Mystery.

They then selected one of their team to play it.  The team member was then grasped by the host/Maze Master and then taken to a closed door. They were told they had either 2minutes, 2 and a half minutes or  3 minutes and thrust through the door whilst the rest of the team watched through a window or a screen.

The selected team member then had to figure out how to solve the puzzle/challenge with help from the rest of the team shouting out.

If they were successful, they would win a crystal which would be grabbed and the team member would then bang on the door to be let out.

Beware though, if you didn't get out in time, you will get locked in!!!

The only way you could escape from the locked room would be if the team sacrificed one of their precious crystals.

The first host of the game was the wonderful mercurial Richard O'Brien, Creator of the Rocky Horror Picture Show!  He was wonderfully eccentric and really created a brilliant atmosphere.  After several series, Richard O'Brien left and was replaced by Ed Tudor-Pole.

The game was revived a few years ago with Richard Ayoade as host.

Back to the present, finally, it was hugely exciting to know it had been made into an experience that everyone could have a go at but I'd never got around to investigating it!

It was so exciting when we received it as a present but we didn't really get around to booking it.

We finally booked a date for last Sunday but sadly, last minute, my sister's boyfriend couldn't make it as he had a job interview about 4 hours drive away. Luckily, my stepmum came in his place.

So...what was it like?

We arrived and were sent to wait in Figaro's bar upstairs, a really pretty and attractive place to wait. You can just go there for drinks if you want.

Teams were fetched and asked to leave their belongings in a locker. You aren't allowed to take phones or cameras with you, to keep the maze secret.

We were then ushered into a vestibule where they played the theme music and credits on a screen and our maze master appeared through a door!

Our host was called Byron and he was really sweet and fun and had all the energy necessary for a Maze Master.

We went into the Medieval zone first.

We'd selected my sister as Team Captain and me as Vice Captain.

The first game was a mystery and I offered to go first.

Before we'd gone in, they all knew I didn't want to do a physical if possible as I am very clumsy and uncoordinated!

When I ran into my first game, I was DELIGHTED as it featured a set of different sized bells on the wall, all tuned to a different pitch with colours. Those colours were the same as my glockenspiels as my school instruments!! I took one look at the first set of colours and named the tune without playing it as it was one I actually taught to my kids this week (and I use the colours on my work sheets!). The third one I just sang to check what it was. The second tune was a little harder to know without playing it so I played it on the bells and my Stepmum named it! I won my crystal!

Next, CBC played a Skill- which was IMPOSSIBLE! No crystal!  My sister followed with a Physical- also hard- no crystal! My stepmum played a Mystery and won her crystal!

There are always new teams going through the maze behind you so they move you on quickly. You get 4 games in each zone, the zone is subdivided into two parts so they can move another team in.  There are lots of rooms- I was itching to know what was behind all the other doors!

The Medieval zone had really cool decor and I really did feel nervous and scared like it was the real TV show!!!

Going between each zone was really fun with some active crawling or climbing, sometimes in the dark!!

Next, we went to the Futuristic zone where we had 4 games- each of us had one. I had a Skill which was sooooo close- I ALMOST completed it but for dropping a kidney at the last minute!  CBC won a crystal with his mental- we helped alot! My stepmum did well again! My sister did a skill one and hit all the targets - we all helped with morse code but we couldn't work out the anagram!!! My sister did another physical which was an automatic lock-in- she aced it!!!

The futuristic zone was really cool and modern with and lots of space themed games!  We had to crawl through

In the industrial zone, I had a mental game- AHGH!!! It was a mental game where you had to press buttons to light up a board. BUT, some of the buttons switched off the lights and you had to begin over and over again!   I had a terrified feeling about getting locked in but didn't!!!

Frustratingly, I  got down to ONE LIGHT!!! No crystal! My stepmum did amazingly with a mental game and skill game as did my sister- another physical!

Our final zone was the Aztec zone. You had to go down an incredibly cool slide to get to it!!

We all played a game there except my stepmum- my sister played her one instead, as the last game!

CBC did a mental game but we didn't get the crystal. My sister did a physical again (oops, we made her do them all except one!) - I managed to guess exactly what the game was before they opened the door! She got her crystal!

My game was a skill featuring a prop from the original series! It was IMPOSSIBLE!!!! No crystal!

Luckily, I managed to help answers to 2 riddles which helped my sister win the final game which was a mystery!

Our stats were:

Sister: 3 physicals, 1 skill, 1 mystery= 3 crystals

Stepmum: 2 mystery, 2 mental = 3 crystals

CBC: 1 physical, 2 skill, 1 mental= 2 crystals

Me: 1 mystery, 1 mental, 2 skill =  1 crystal.

Total:9 crystals = 45 seconds in the Crystal Dome! 7 is the average apparently!

I could have predicted that outcome. My skill and coordination skills are very lacking. Mental and Mystery were my only hope for getting a crystal. However, I helped with other games, so I helped in some useful way!

The final stage was going to the Crystal dome!

It was very cool to get in there! It was bigger than I thought and it was really hard to catch the tickets! You aren't allowed to pick up any from the floor!

We managed to collect 129 gold tokens! Sadly, not a record, but considering we were only a team of 4, this was good apparently!

It was actually much better being a small team because we all got to play 4 games (stepmum gave one of hers to sis) rather than just 2! They really have done a good job on the experience and I DEFINITELY want to go again!!

It is located on Shaftesbury Avenue in Piccadilly and costs anywhere between £60-100 per person. A lot but it really was fantastic!

I found this wonderful documentary on Youtube you can watch about the show and below, I have linked to the very first full episode of the show!

After that, my stepmum and sister had to get home sadly, but CBC and I went to Bali Bali, also on Shaftesbury avenue for dinner. I'd remembered it was there. Bali Bali serves Indonesian cuisine

We ordered the Indonesian platter:Lumpia- Spring rolls, crab claws, breaded prawn, chicken wing and sate on a bed of prawn crackers- scrummy but v filling!

For mains, CBC ordered Nasi Lemak which is boiled rice with a lovely coconut- based sauce and sea food bits with picked veg on the side.

My mains were Cap Tjai- a dish of vegetables in a sauce and Tahu Goreng- fried tofu in peanut sauce and crackers on a bed of pickled vegetables.  They were pleasant BUT I was a bit disappointed with them as Cap Tjai was my favourite dish in Bali and it wasn't the same at all. I am used to it in more sauce, much spicier, the vegetables cut much smaller and with egg in it.

There were so many more amazing dishes on the menu I wanted to try- but I hope to go back another time!

The Tofu was in peanut sauce which I didn't realise and I'd already eaten lots of it for my starter so it was a bit too rich and sweet for me at the time. I definitely had food regrets!! Luckily, I had brought containers with me and I took lots of my two dishes home- CBC and I appreciated them for dinner the next night!

My Sunday was really lovely!!

TARDIS Tuesday- Into the Dalek Clara

Good evening!

I hope you are well! I am well.  Today, for TARDIS Tuesday, I am sharing an outfit worn by Clara Oswald in series 8 episode, Into the Dalek. I can't believe I last shared this outfit last in April 2019-almost 3 years ago!

Let's look at it!

The outfit is worn I thought would be perfect for Remembrance Sunday...with a slight modification!

It consists of:
  • Topshop red ladder-stitch red cropped jumper
  • ASOS reclaimed Check jacket
  • Topshop black Scallop shorts
  • Topshop 'All Mine' boots
  • Black Deena and Ozzy satchel
  • UO double circle necklace

And here it is.
This practically identical to the last time I wore it. It needed no adjustments*.
The Topshop sweater is really warm and comfortable to wear- it hugs you really well but, because of the ladder-stitch, isn't too hot.  My jacket is one of my best Charity shop Clara finds as it is vintage, not the same brand as hers but looks identical from a distance. It cost me £4 and I spied it from a moving car when I was driving up Battle Hill in Hexham in the window of the Sue Ryder charity shop!
Not much to say about the shorts and boots other than- not appropriate for school!
*Speaking of inappropriate for school- I slightly modified this outfit for church. The shorts are too tight and too short for me to wear in public so I swapped them for my new black cropped corduroy trousers from Seasalt. Also easier to cycle in!

Here's a close-up on my double circle necklaces AND the remembrance addition to this outfit (which I think is perfect for this outfit- Clara's needs it!)

Apart from the fitted shorts, the outfit is super comfortable and smart for many occasions. If only the shorts were longer and a bit looser!

I played piano for the first time at the church I've started going to on Sunday morning. I do NOT enjoy playing piano in public - even Singing Assembly at school or School concerts is not in my comfort zone (even though I've done it for 16 years).  BUT, the regular lady who plays piano had a nasty fall a few weeks ago and broke her shoulder (and really smacked up her eye and face) and I really wanted to help out so I  offered to help out when I was able to.  It went ok- there were a few Les Dawson moments and I had a couple of blanks just before starting about WHERE I was going to start an introduction but it was ok.  As I wasn't singing at the same time (because that makes it harder to get it all right)- I did teacherly nods to show when it was time to come in, just in case!

After church, I did something else really cool but that's for another day!

Homegrown harvests 2022 totals

I've enjoyed growing lots of  things these last few years but I've never been organised enough to keep totals of what I've grown- this is a shame as I've had some bumper years for raspberries!

However, this year, in mid-June, I remembered to start writing down what I was picking. This means there is probably about 10 large colanders of Rocket and a bunch of alpine strawberries or more, which didn't make it into the totals as well as a whole lot of Perpetual spinach and Welsh onion scapes!

Strawberries: 517
Rocket: 9 colanders full.
Raspberries: 623
Green Beans: 108
Blueberries: 478
Courgettes: 8
Cucumbers: 9
Capers (Nasturtium seeds): 59
Peas: 77
Figs: 10
Apples: 3
Alpine Strawberries: 15
Rhubarb:34 stalks
Tomatoes: 1007
Leeks: 2

It wasn't such a good year for raspberries as previous years as several of my plants didn't grow back- I think I cut them back too late. But still, there were a lot.
It wasn't a good year for Courgettes.  I think they need more space or water.
The rocket was hugely prolific! A lot of it didn't actually get eaten as I couldn't keep up with it- I shared lots of it with work colleagues.
For the first time in 3 years, my tomatoes did not get blight- I was so happy and my September and October were full of home grown tomatoes.
It's the first time I've been able to eat my own figs- they weren't huge but they were still mine!
It has been the best haul of blueberries I've had and the strawberries did well too.
My Nasturtiums were really good this year and I finally managed to get seeds which I put into vinegar to make capers (as recommended by Vix!)

I am sad I didn't plant garlic last year but I intend to this year.

The feeling of picking your own is amazing! I hope that I do as well next year!

Bury St Edmunds cathedral

At Half term, CBC and I went to Suffolk for 2 nights  and  on our last day, we drove to Bury St Edmunds.

It turned out to be a gorgeous  place. Great shops and restaurants and the best thing was, the wonderful St Edmundsbury cathedral.  It is set on the grounds  of the old abbey (beautiful  gardens) and is such a light, beautiful place.

I took pictures from various angles  and i thought I'd  leave them for you to enjoy.

TARDIS Tuesday- the obscure Yaz outfit from Revolution of the Daleks

This week for TARDIS Tuesday, I am going a little niche and obscure! Jodie's era is over but I'm not done with trying to recreate outfits from her companion Yaz (who, random fact here, is the only companion in Doctor Who history to remain with her Doctor throughout the Doctor's whole era).

I featured Yaz's main outfit from Revolution of the Daleks in December 2020 and revisited it in May 2022 but, when the episode aired, it was a little seen outfit that she wore right at the start of the episode that really caught my eye and heart.

Here are my screen grabs of it:

It's the corduroy coat that did it. I LOVE corduroy. I can't tell you why but I have always loved it. My Mum used to tell me about a beautiful pair of petrol-blue Levi cords she used to wear in the 70's which sounded wonderful to me.  In the 90's my viola-friend Chrissie acquired a pair of pale blue Levi cords from her sister. We used to share them in the viola section. Me, Maz and her used to wear these cords. I bought a pair of Bottle green cords from Laura Ashley from the charity shop which I owned until recently but they just got a little too tight.

The coat is navy blue corduroy with a shearling collar and buttons.  She wears it with a black floral shirt with little white flowers and either brown or green foliage. She wears blue jeans and her floral Y & Z necklaces from Alex Monroe.
Back to the corduroy coat. I really liked it and I did a little search on eBay for a navy corduroy coat and by accident, managed to find the Screen accurate coat.  I knew it was the exact one because of the features but also, when I rewatched the scene above, I saw the tiny metal G of the G star reflecting for a split second in the screen. (Later on, I found out that G star items have been worn by Doctor Who characters before)
To my knowledge, no one else has identified the coat so this is its first outing as the identified coat!
The coat is called the G Star Deline coat in navy corduroy. Its retail price was £220!!!! I saw one on eBay in XS for £12.  I didn't buy it at the time as I wasn't sure whether XS would fit me and I am glad I didn't because I managed to find a S version for around £17 later on which fits well.

Here's my coat. It is quilted on the inside and is really cosy and comfortable. It became my favourite Spring coat when I acquired it earlier this year before it had to go away for late Spring and Summer.

I managed to find a H&M black floral shirt that did as good a job as any for the shirt and it has become a staple in my Autumn work wardrobe
I don't have blue jeans that are that colour but I wore the outfit with these indigo denim trousers from ASOS instead.
I added my Screen accurate Dune Pacey boots (which Yaz wears in her first series. I don't know what she wore in this scene.
When I first put together this outfit (last Saturday), I first wore my handmade Y & Z necklaces (made out of silver mirrored card) but to actually go out (we went to the theatre and saw Sweeney Todd at the Palace theatre in Southend), I wore my alternative necklace- my K & Z necklaces for Kez rather than Yaz! They are the best, cheapest alternative to her real Alex Monroe necklaces which retail at £95 each in silver) and are the Avon Lacey necklaces. I am rather fond of them!
A small detail is the silver crystal studs.  They were a Christmas present back in 2005 from my Stepdad's daughter in law!
I wore my hair up in a bun this day and it miraculously stayed up ALL DAY! Twas a miracle!

This is an outfit I like very much. Comfortable and cosy & very easy to wear for work with different trousers!

What do you think?
