To the north... amazed at the maze...

The penultimate day, we took a trip to Brockbushes (after visiting Corbridge where we enjoyed Re (bought some cards and a COOL steel letter stencil) and the Corbridge antiques centre (soo almost bought lovely size 8 50's prom dress in there but realised that would be silly!)

This farm shop is a great place with nice shop and better still had a maize maze! I've never been in one of these and I love mazes (Harry Potter and the goblet of fire anyone?) so we dutifully parted with our £4.50 (little steep me thinks- not the corn ho ho!) and entered the lair!

Immediately, you left the world behind and entered a world of green and nature. Birds, butterflies, furry things and insects scuttled along engaged in furious industry.

A fun element of the maze was you had to locate letters to spell out a clue to how long since the first strawberry was picked at Brockbushes- they were hidden all around the maze and we had no idea how many there were or where they were. I was really excited- I couldn't stop laughing as we scampered around! I kept a close eye on CBC at first as I ALWAYS get lost in mazes. Have I ever mentioned my ATROCIOUS sense of Geography? I was once lost in Leeds castle maze for a very long time when my sister had to shout directions from the middle to me!

Check out how tall the corn is!!! It literally towered above me! Harry, I know just how you felt!

Luckily there were no chimera or malovolent wizards inside, but I did keep looking to check.

CBC and I seperated to explore different paths. Bad idea.

First, I was alone....

I was petrified....

Ak, cannee remember the words to the song, but I was perplexed...

After a little while, alone, scared and abandoned, I found the centre of the maze. It felt like an episode of LOST0 that one where they found the radio tower. I kept looking around
for 'the others' but luckily none came along.

I was rather childishly excited to have reached the centre- I took a very sad victory photo!

However, it became clear that I had lost CBC for good. :-(

I stumbled and slipped, ran and rambled, stopping to admire daisies and poppies amidst my terror...

I found one or two more clues on the way, but they seemed to add up to nothing....

Finally, CBC came to rescue me, having located about 8 other clues (HOW??????????)

We walked out of the maze at the same time as a family. Sharing our found letters with the entrance guy, we all said, we knew part of the answer, but we didn't know what 3 letters stood for P. Y. O.

The guy told us we could only have the free ice-lolly if we guessed the whole answer correctly.

Both parties were perplexed until I had a brainwave....

And won us an ice-lolly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't believe just how tall the maize was in this maze- I've seen them advertised and had no idea how extensive they are and that I would actually get lost inside it! I lost CBC for a good 15 minutes when we took different forked paths! I really wanted to show WOMOTM just how cool it was so I took the liberty of taking this video! (ministry of silly voices) First time I've ever included a video so not sure if it will work here! I may just usurp David Attenborough from his ivory tower...
