RAINBOWS! What wonderful things they are! Such a joy to see them! They are the reward for enduring miserable weather and of course, feature in many stories- Noah's story, The Wizard of Oz, Tiktok of Oz, various folk tales. What other ones can you name?
When I found this rainbow skirt in the Hexham Sue Ryder charity shop for £2.25, I was utterly enchanted. I did indeed feel like Joseph and his coat of many colours as I took it to pay for at the till! The pricing of items in that shop does confuse me sometimes! Some things are really overpriced and others, bargainous gems!
I decided to wear it for school on the first day of term with rainbow socks and my pencil brooch, plus my Tiger umbrella and so many staff members came and commented on it! I can never keep my mouth shut though- I gleefully overshared , "£2.25 from Sue Ryder!"
The pencil brooch, a present from the lovely Lily Fang at Imperfect Idealist and a crystal necklace reminiscent of the one I had as a child were the perfect finishers- in my not so impartial opinion!
And because umbrellas are fun to dance with- here I am!
This week's TARDIS Tuesday is a very simple one! Just a collar shot.
In an episode called 'Sleep no more' Clara Oswald wore a navy blue jumper with a pleated chiffon collar top, a blue scalloped skirt and a triangle necklace.
This outfit is very much my aesthetic! I am complete sucker for a pretty collar!

My jumper was a Zara one I bought for a few pounds second hand and the navy pleated collar comes from an Urban Outfitters top I also bought for £2. The necklace is indeed the same necklace and I bought it from someone for £2 second hand! Obviously, my version is a simple match but I very much like it!
Today's TARDIS Tuesday is one I have been meaning to do for while though wasn't expecting to want or need to wear it in August, but the mildly chilly and damp weather meant it was perfect for today!
I am featuring my favourite character, Clara Oswald as is often the case. I do really like her style of clothing and many items are often high-street.
Today is her outfit from the very end of the finale of Series 8, Death in Heaven.
It features Clara in a green Topshop mac with a grey checked lining, a short-sleeved cream sweater from Gap, black skinny jeans and some Topshop boots.
And here is my version. The green mac that Clara is wearing is funnily notorious amongst cosplayers as being the Holy Grail of Clara items- it just doesn't ever seem to turn up on ebay or any of the usual places that people manage to source Clara clothing items! There are, however, two other versions of it in navy and black. The day I went into my local Sue Ryder charity shop and saw the black version of the coat sitting on the rack for £6.99 was a very happy day for me, particularly as it commands very high prices on ebay- I saw it sell for £90! It is really comfortable and has proved a staple for me all through this year's Spring.
I also managed to find Clara's Topshop boots in my size second hand, for a reasonable price back in May so I ended up buying them. They are quite high so I wouldn't want to walk too far in them.
Aside from my trusty ASOS black trousers (I don't do skinny jeans. Or really Jeans), the final item is this cream short-sleeved sweater. My one was £1.99 from my local Barnados. It is also very comfy!
So, a comfy cosplay (bar the shoes today!) and quite Screen Accurate!

Hope you are well. For this week's TARDIS Tuesday, I thought I'd go back to Classic Who.
Believe it or not, one of the first Doctor Who characters that my wardrobe choices were inspired by was the lovely Mary Tamm who played Romana I or Romanavoratradelundar who was a Time Lady from Gallifrey who was sent with the Doctor to search for the Key to Time to restore balance in the Universe. She only played Romana for 6 serials, indeed the whole Key to Time before she regenerated. She wore a wonderful white dress which my dear family friend, who died last year, made me a black version of for concerts.
Today's outfit is inspired by one of those 6 serials she was in. This was called The Stones of Blood and was all about a Stone Circle which had some connection to some alien power. It was an interesting mix of Pagan and Alien. Romana wore a maroon notch open neck top and red tiered skirt (I actually saw one in a faded pink in a charity shop the day before I did this but decided not to buy it in the end as it was in a rather shabby condition)
I wore this Long Tall Sally maxi-skirt which I bought Brand-new with tags from the charity-shop a while back (still has its tags on as I am not sure the waist fits me exactly so it may pass on elsewhere.) and with it, this M&S Maroon open-necked top(also charity-shopped, also brand new with tags!) . It has a placket rather than cords but the vibe is similar, I hope!
Funny story connected to this picture. When I searched originally for images of Romana in the Stones of Blood, I came upon someone who cosplayed this and she was sat in this exact pose. In my head, there was a Mary Tamm image in this pose too. So I tried to take the photo many times and then it turned out it wasn't a Mary Tamm pose, or at least in any photos I could on Google.
However, it shows you my 70's-looking leather boots underneath (very old from eYe Boutique) and my Broderie Anglaise skirt/petticoat. Oh and my blue hairbrush which is posing as the Tracer for seeking the Key to Time.
The Key to Time set of 6 serials is actually one of favourite Who serials. I love a good treasure hunt and this is certainly one of those. The rapport between Romana and the Doctor was hilarious as Mary Tamm was a condescending ice-queen to his clownish ways and very clever. Plus, the variety of stories was great. One of my chief objections to New Who is that everything is so Apocalyptic- like the entire Universe will be destroyed UNLESS the Doctor Who saves it which gets a bit tiresome and unrealistic. I like smaller scale disasters such as The Stones of Blood or other stories in which something more localised and disastrous for a smaller group of people might occur!
In Series 7, Clara and the Doctor rocked up to a spooky old house in the middle of a rainy night, The episode was called Hide. I actually tried to do a TARDIS Tuesday on this outfit back in 2015. Everything I am wearing, except my shoes is a different version!
My hair was better in 2015, it's a bit too short and curling outwards instead of inwards, but I think this is more accurate than then.
Clara begins the episode clutching the twin of this umbrella, which spookily enough, I picked up from a charity shop last July because it looked like a great new umbrella, along with a Clara Screen accurate blouse and a few weeks later, watched Hide and realised I had an identical umbrella. She also has a red satchel which doesn't seem to feature in any stills I can find!

The dress is the right shape and buttons up right though obviously the navy print is wrong- hers is flowers- mine has swan print! Still, not bad for a fiver from a Charity-shop 2 weeks ago! The blazer was also a £5 job from New Look a few months ago- I really like cardigan blazers!
