Photo an Hour- 12 October 2019

I really like Photo an Hour, a challenge I first discovered through Blogging but have continued to enjoy through Instagram. The premise is that you take a photo every hour to give a representation of your day. It might be a mundane day but it is fun to see what everyone is up to.

8am.... I heard the aforementioned cat mewing in the garden which woke me at 7am (I will write more soon). I went into the garden to see what was up and she ran into the house eagerly.  Here she is on the landing.

9am.... Sleeping....

10am.... I made myself a cup of tea and bought it back to bed with my library book to read...and tablet!

11am.... Shower time! Here's the shelf in our bathroom with one of my Aloe babies that is getting very big, also toothpaste in jars is on show!

12pm... Breakfast is late.  Sourdough from Lidl plus tea and my book again.  Oh, and the postman had been and bought this pair of fish earrings from Lorelai LQ who is discontinuing her acrylic jewellery in favour of more eco-friendly alternatives.

1pm or thereabouts... impatiently waiting for CBC to bloomin' well HURRY up and get in the car or we'll be late! These two seagulls were having the most heated and hilarious squabble on the neighbour's roof. One was low, one was high and they weren't half going for it!
2pm... Beginning our orchestra rehearsal. I was playing viola and it was going to be one long, tiring slog!
3pm... No photo as was still playing.
4pm... Break time.  Too busy drinking tea and distributing Enamel cups to those who'd forgot theirs!
5pm...Headed to Sainsbury's to go and try to gets some Plant Power Foods Vegan Ribz which are tempeh.  They're in plastic but I reaallly wanted to try them! Also picked up a couple of books, some ginger and potatoes.
6pm... Ahrgh, forgot to take a photo. In the Chip shop restaurant eating dinner with my Godmother, flute friend Izzie, CBC, my old Head of Music School.
7pm...All changed and ready for the concert.  Frederica is sitting up on the shelf but I had a bit of a practice of Beethoven's Coriolan Overture which I am really glad I did as I got this tricky bit right in the concert that I hadn't quite managed in the rehearsal.

8pm... I took this at 7.30pm as the concert started but we were playing Brahms!

9pm.... It was the interval...so, so, so tired already and we've still got the Symphony to go. It's SOOOOO much harder playing viola than flute!

10pm... Thank the Lord that is over!  The last part of the symphony, I felt like I couldn't go on!

11pm... After helping clear up and chatting, CBC was driving us home!

12pm... I was eating some leftover Chinese food from the night before and drinking Cocoa. I know I shouldn't eat so late but I ate SO early and skipped lunch so I really needed it! No photo, alas!

And that was my day!

Photo an Hour 23rd March 2019

 I took part in Photo an Hour on Saturday!  Here's what I got up to.

10am:  Having woken up late at 9.30am after not setting an alarm clock (a bliss), I went downstairs to put the washing machine on, take down and fold the last lots of washing, make myself a cup of tea and went back to bed to read my book, The Train to Impossible Places
11am:  Having hung the washing up, ahrgh, it seems to be 11am and I was eating Avocado on a Sesame seed bagel for breakfast!
12pm: After the shower, I was getting dressed and looking out the window at the garden, admiring the Cherry Blossom.
1pm:  Having wrapped up 2 parcels, I headed out on my bike to town to the post office. This was highly annoying as the man in the post office didn't know how to do an International Tracked and Signed for parcel so it took a while. Also visited the bakery to get some bread.

2pm: Home having come home via the Chipshop.  I bought a piece of Southern Fried chicken and a half portion of chips which I ate with 2 slices of the delicious bread from the bakery. Along with tea, I set out a choice of reading material- my book and the English Heritage magazine that came in the post.

3pm:  Hanging the next lot of washing out and a bit of pottering round the garden including filling the bird feeders.

4pm:  Finally practising my flute for tonight's concert.  Tackling Ian Clarke's Zoom Tube trying not to kill my ears at the Top, top, top F#s!

5pm:  Irritatingly, discovered that despite asking for it, the man in the post office had NOT given me my Proof of Postage certificate and given I was sending a huge parcel of Cosplay clothes to my friend in Germany who had used my address to send things to, I was completely paranoid so I headed back into town to the post office. He handed it to me as I came in with no explanation of why he hadn't given it to me.  Even more paranoid.  Now at 5pm back to practising Zoom Tube- going over my Quarter Tone scale over and over again!

6pm:  Stowing away the 8 packets of Pickled Onion Space Raiders I had picked up in the Post Office that were reduced to 5p each for after Lent.  If I don't, CBC will eat them whilst berating me on how unhealthy and bad for me these crisps are.  He doesn't quite get the hypocrisy of this! 

7pm (well actually 6.30pm):  Ready and dressed for my conceert!  Wearing this gorgeous Monsoon Jacquard silk dress I picked up in the charity shop a year ago but not actually worn yet!!

8pm:  No photo. Disaster!  We arrived at the church to discover I HAD FORGOTTEN MY FLUTE CASE!!!!! We had to hurry home and get it and return to the concert.  At 8pm, I think I was back and practising my flute!  The concert went well!

9pm: Waiting in the Indian Takeaway for some Dhal and rice!

10pm:  No photo: I think I was watching Neighbours on Channel 5od!

11pm:  Just coming upstairs to bed. CBC already asleep. Pinky is waiting for me!

Well, that's my incredibly sedentary day (apart from the 5.5 miles cycling and practice!)

Photo an hour 19th January

It's rare that I remember to join in with the Photo an Hour challenge- either here OR on Instagram.  This morning, when I headed downstairs at 10.30am, I looked at Instagram and saw Hazel had posted her Photo an Hour so I decided to join in even though I didn't have any sort of day planned...

11am:  Ahrgh,woke up egregiously late!!! Headed downstairs to put some washing in, sat with a cup of tea in my Psycho mug watching 'Homes under the Hammer' whilst folding washing.

12pm:  Joining in with @64Million artists' #TheJanuaryChallenge by making up my own new meaning for a word. In retrospect, I could have done this better or chosen a better word but I was trying to think quickly to meet meet the hourly deadline.

 1pm:  Showered and ready in my Sailor-themed outfit.  My charity-shopped denim trousers have sailor style buttons at the top too!

2pm:  On our way out.  Making sure I have bags and containers. That's my Christmas present rucksack from CBC and the bag from my sister. Both feature woodland animals playing musical instruments! Rather appropriate wouldn't you say?

3pm:  We headed to a town a few miles from us to go to the new Zero waste/Bulk Buy shop called The Refill Room where you can take your own bottles, jars and containers to fill up on dried goods.  We had completely run out of all the standard green herbs so we desperately needed some. Also, we needed some red lentils and rice so I had come prepared. The herbs worked out nice and cheap around 59-89p to fill the jars, the rice seemed quite expensive £5.50 for that tub, lentils were ok- £2.59 for the Killner jar full..  Everything is organic in this place so perhaps that's why.

 I WAS going to go to another Health food shop round the corner with my Ecover Washing up liquid bottle because I had looked up online that they refilled it but filled up here instead- silly as it ended up being £3.50 instead of £1.20 with Ecover!  Again, probably the Organic thing. Still glad I went there though, I'll just remember to get my washing up liquid round the corner next time.

 4pm:

CBC wanted to get a haircut so I ended up mooching round the charity shops.  Got excited when I saw this jumper as it is similar to one that Clara wears in Doctor Who (same brand and everything) but didn't buy it.

5pm:

Waiting for CBC by the car which is by The Refill Room.  Thought this sign was a very good way of getting across the message about Waste which I try to say when people tell me not to worry when I fret when a drink has been bought to me with a plastic straw. I do not want that straw!

 6pm:

Arrived at our friend N's house in our old home town.  He made me a Hotel Chocolat Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate in the 'Velvetiser' a gadget he bought himself for Christmas.  The resulting Hot chocolate was DELICIOUS!

 7pm:

Still at N's, watching the new series of New Girl on TV.  I love Zoe Deschanel! 

 8pm:  In our FAVOURITE Thai restaurant for dinner.  Enjoying my wonderful Thai Green Prawn Curry.  No where else does such a good one!

 9pm-in the car...

10pm:  Home now!  Having a cup of mint tea.

11pm:  Writing this blogpost and realising I needed to get my new boots out of my bag  Wasn't intending to buy anything in the charity shops but found this pair of Clarks Originals Desert boots in my size.  This style of shoes are the ones I wear ALL the time for cycling in the Winter to school and are usually very expensive.  Dr Martens have stopped making the ones I love (first pair cost £90 and I have had them 4years but the sole is wearing very thin, second pair were £30 second hand on eBay getting very scuffed).  These ones were marked as £11.99 in the Children's Society shop which I was a bit dubious about as they had very dirty soles and black mark on one side but otherwise were in great condition. I was umming and ashing about them and asked the shopkeeper if she thought the black mark would come off.  She had a go with a baby wipe which made the mark worse and they kindly marked them down to £6.99 for me!  So I bought them!

I should be off to bed. I will be reading Ngaio Marsh's 'False Scent'  before I sleep so you can imagine what that looks like!

Photo an Hour March 2018

Generally, I forget to join in with Photo an Hour! Luckily, I noticed it was happening on Instagram on Saturday and joined in! 

Nothing happened before 10am as I was asleep!

Photo an hour: 22nd April 2017

Hi All,

Hope you are well.

I have been rather busy this week. It was CBC's birthday this week. On Monday, we went to London to watch 'The Glass Menagerie' by Tennesse Williams in London which was fantastic and then we were at orchestra last night so no blogging!

Anyway, I took part in Photo an hour on Saturday so here's a photo diary

8am:  getting dressed.  Adding birds to my 'Prisoner' blazer!

9am-ish (actually 8.40ish but I was going to be flitting between trains).  The postman dropped a whole load of parcels for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee through the door! I decided to wait and open them slowly over the weekend so to have something to look forward to!

10am:  Now on the train on the way to Ipswich to meet up with lovely blogger friends! Reading my latest Edward Marston charity shop whodunnit find!

11am: At Applaud Coffee in Ipswich with Sophie and Hazel having er- tea!

 12pm-ish:  Exploring the many charity shops in Ipswich!   I did well in this shop with a jacket and a blouse.  Sophie had a handful as did Hazel! As well as them- I decided to include the bizarre diver-suit style dress which perplexed me!

1pm-ish:  Stopping for a post-lunch selfie with the girls!

1pm-ish also:  I always seem to be the last one out of the shop! Following behind as usual!!!

 1pm bonus:  After the scuba-diving dress, Hazel found a classic number!  We quipped that it was her dream dress! Panto Cinderella  rag outfit methinks!

 2pm-ish bonus:Fox lantern!

2pm official: Subtly or not so subtly ogling Hazel's dreamy glittery shoes under the table!

3pm:  Cake and tea in  a place beginning with A??? 

 Lovely ladies!

 4pm:  Saying goodbye loaded with bags!

4pm proper:  Staring out the rapidly-moving train window back to Essex

5pm ish: (check clock on platform for true time)  Waiting for my 3rd train...

 6pm:  Back home home at last! Going into the garden to try and spot which bird was the skilled singer!

 7pm:  Eating Tyrell's Sweet chilli and red pepper crisps!

8pm-sulking about not being able to watch #Doctorwho series 10, episode 2 because of not having a TV license, so watching random Who compilations on YouTube

9pm-shoddy photo but I can't be bothered! PAELLA, left for me by my husband! 

10pm ish:  watching Ella Enchanted which I bought today. Prince Char IS very cute and I love Anne Hathaway!!

11pm and 12am did exist but weren't photographed!

Photo an Hour- 24th September

It seems an eternity since I last remembered to join in with this challenge so I was rather glad to discover Donna had posted and I had already taken roughly a photo an hour yesterday and was able to sustain this throughout the day.

9.30am

 Got up and went and got out this pretty Fable and Black Hobbit-quote card so I could write it and send it to my little sis who is having a bit of a tough time at the moment. Appropriate since I think it was Hobbit day today!

 10.30am- Sat down in my PJs with a cup of Earl Grey tea, Men at Arms on the sofa.  I added a bagel a few minutes later.  Saturday morning monging is a delight for me, esp when home alone. As I sat on the sofa with chaos around me, I noticed the contents of my school bag in a heap on the floor- CBC, the pest nicked my bag to take his stuff in!!!! It was all going well until I realised that there were engineering works on my railway lane and a 30min journey would now be a 2 hour one. Grrr.

 11.30am- the weekly Washing-up jenga game. Hadn't done any for 2nights- oops.

 As I did it, I noticed my lime mint cuttings were rather limp as their water had run out. Hmmm, really should plant them, they have proper roots now and they've grown about 10cm!

 12.30pm- AHRGH, emptying the music bookcase to try and find my choir music- WHY did CBC have to nick my copy of Eric Whitaker's The Seal Lullaby which Mum had bought for me. I did ask him to return it but he had forgotten.

 1.30pm On the Rail replacement bus service to Newbury Park. Grrr, was so cross getting off the train that before I got on the bus, I decided to go and treat myself to an ice-cream milkshake from Cloud 9. It is a Twirl one with whipped cream and sprinkles.  At least the bus wasn't crowded and I got the nice central back seat shielded from the Sun. Guess I'm going to be on here for at least another hour and then I have to get TWO more buses to reach my destination.

 2.30pm - RESULT!! I realised that the first bus would pass within walking distance of the rehearsal venue but of course the Rail Replacement is not a stopping service. BUT, I asked the Bus-driver very nicely if there was any possibility I could jump out at the junction of the dual Carriageway and despite his reservations, he took pity on my quiet but polite urgency and let me jump out (asking me PLEASE to be careful!) saving me 30mins extra travel. As I walked down the road, I saw a public bus which could have got me to my destination quicker but I missed it.

 Glad I missed it as I got to walk past my favourite garden on this road. It is opposite the hospital I used to go to when I lived here and was the highlight of every Hospital visit. It is a beautiful corner plot and I've never been able to photograph it before!

 3.30pm In my choir rehearsal. We were in the church today and it is really pretty. I love the raainbow behind God!

 This work is by my friend Henry Shelton. It is one of many stations of the Cross paintings around the church!

 4.30pm -singing this beautiful arrangement of Scarborough Fair.

No photo of 5.30pm as a scramble to get back to Newbury Park station (lift courtesy of Mummykins)  and then on the tube to London.

 6.30pm Yay, hello J, MG and WOMOTM who were in London to see their new Grandson and nephew respectively.

 And a view from the Window. I like the Watermelon graffiti!

7.30pm- I was drinking tea at the table when I spied WKWTTG's rice-cooker across the room. In my blurry eyesight, I thought it had a cartoon character of the Grim Reaper on it.  He said that he thought it looked like the Kabuki-mask-wearing 'No Face' from the Anime film 'Spirited Away. When I went up close, I realised it was just a coincidence. But I agree with his judgement of the anime character!

 8.30pm I was reading more Terry Pratchett around about this time so I took this picture of my favourite quote so far:

"There was a louder mutter, a sort of toccata scored for one hundred reluctant voices on the theme of, "No Corporal Carrot." which made me chortle muchly when I read it first. Such a clever use of musical terminology to describe the moment.

However, at this point, a delicious plate of Thai Green curry was served up to me! So I photographed it instead!

 9.30pm We were still in London and people were sleepy on the sofa. I took this photo and then headed for the bathroom.

 and then decided to take this photo instead as the set up of the hall table is so attractive! I love the rotary dial phone and the fine convex mirror which I find somewhat reminiscent of the one in Van Eyck's The Alfioni Marriage.

 10.30pm we were stuck on the A13 in horrendous traffic so here is one I took as we left London at around 9.45pm- it's blurry but I liked the effect.

11.30pm - remembered the washing in the washing machine and hung it up.  CBC's favourite socks.
