TARDIS Tuesday- Summer 5th Doctor outfit

HI there!

I have enjoyed my last 2 Summer spins on the Classic Who Doctors.I hope you did too!
Today, I am considering baby-faced 5th Doctor, Peter Davison's outfit.

I last looked at this outfit as inspiration in April 2021- here I did a literal cosplay and recreation of the outfit but this time, I wanted to do a Summer spin on it. Therefore I was using it as inspiration rather than a direct recreation.  I have actually done a Summer version of this once before (back in 2015 which you can see here) and I used the same base-dress.

Let's look at the original:

And this time, I have created two versions of it with one garment difference:

Here's the first one: I started with the obvious item- my Question mark shirt (embroidered by Ang) which I wore for my 6th Doctor outfit last week. As I said last time, the shirt is lovely and lightweight. I rolled up its sleeves for a more summery look.

The next item was my vintage dress bought back in 2015 or so.  I loved this dress. It's handmade and I definitely get cricket jumper vibes from the patterning around the neck and hem. Do you agree?

I added my handmade celery brooch (made from Shrink plastic in 2015). Yes, it looks more like Chard.
I wore CBC's LilyWhite's genuine Panama hat (which I bought from Oxfam for him 7 years ago or so) and added the same red spotty scarf I wore round my neck last week for the 6th Doctor outfit.

Here's the second outfit. Spot the difference!

This time, I took away the white shirt (I could have kept it on but I think in the Summer, it would be a bit too warm with both the jacket and the shirt. Instead, I wore my Whistles blazer which I bought for £4 for my 5th Doctor cosplay. It has ties but I tied them loosely inside the blazer. Celery was repinned.

I wore my Toms Huarache shoes- couldn't wear my white brogues as they are in school (spare shoes) and didn't think that the white Converse high-tops would work so well.

I think I like this outfit better out of the two, but what about you?

TARDIS Tuesday- Peri Brown from The Caves of Androzani

This week for TARDIS Tuesday, I was wracking my brain to think of an outfit to wear that was appropriate to wear for this weather and then my friend Katie inspired me as she had posted an outfit she had put together worn by 1980's companion with the 5th and 6th Doctor, Peri/Perpigillian Brown.

She wore a louder outfit than mine (and brilliant it was too!) but I remembered I had the elements for this outfit which she wears in 5th Doctor Swansong, The Caves of Androzani (which is actually my favourite Classic Doctor Who episode).

She wears pink high-waisted shorts with a pink top of some sort underneath. She wears simple white pumps on her feet and on top, she has a pastel checked blouse which looks cream from a distance but seems to have very light pastel checks on it.

Here's outfit number 1:

I bought some vintage 80's high-waisted shorts a year ago or so, second hand for peanuts which worked well for this outfit. I wore my Cath Kidston red vest top underneath and then added my 5th Doctor question mark shirt (embroidered by Ang) over the top, tied at the waist.
I then added my Toms sandals.

Originally, I tried wearing my pastel rainbow shirt over the top but it looked TOO colourful so I swapped it for the white shirt instead.
This was a great outfit for a warm day.

If you want to see The Caves of Androzani, you can catch it here on The Daily Motion.

Hope you are having a nice day!

TARDIS Tuesday - Peter Davidson- The Fifth Doctor and 16th Blogiversary!

Hello friends,

I hope you are well.  It's been a while since my last post.  The last week at school was incredibly stressful and unfortunately, the thing that was causing me most stress is still causing me a lot of anxiety as my room is being fitted out with shelves and I'm pretty sure the heights are too high for the kids and the shelves too far apart but I can't change it and I'm feeling really miserable about the whole thing.  It's supposed to be a good thing and it is all going wrong.  It was all last minute and I was in a high state of anxiety about the whole thing and still am. But, I just need to wait and see and try not to stress.

Oh, I had my first Covid vaccine jab today- AstroZeneca.  I was really surprised to get the text from my surgery last Monday inviting me to book my jab- considering I am only just 40, I was incredulous- in my area though, apparently, we are ahead.

I meant to do an Easter, holy weekend post, but I've not been on my computer all weekend- we did lots of walking and I didn't want to turn it on.

Anyway, onto the main part of my post which is TARDIS Tuesday.

This is one of the more iconic Doctor Who looks- the cricket-clad Peter Davidson is recognisible the world round.  I don't really need to say more about it- you can see all the elements of it.

I am amazed to say that I have only done one version of this outfit before and it was only a 'style inspiration'- you can see it here.  It's bizarre considering I have had all elements in this outfit except the jacket for years.

And here we have my version this time:

I'm quite proud of this one.  You can buy costume versions of this outfit in their entirety but this one is not a custom costume but something I put together.

The outfit began with my Cricket jumper which I bought from a shop about 15 years ago.  It's not a bad match.
The next item, the shirt, was customized for me by the wonderful Ang Almond (she of homemade Dalek fame from my 40th Birthday post)- she embroidered question marks and added red lining to my old school concert shirt (had it since I was 14)- I first wore it back in 2015 here with a 6th Doctor inspired outfit.

Around that time, I made myself a Celery brooch out of Shrink Plastic, as the 5th Doctor wears a piece on his lapel.  It resembles Chard rather than celery. Ooops!

I USED to own a pair of trousers that were very similar to the Doctor's- I had them made in Bali for that purpose but I think they got too tight and I got rid of them.  Luckily, I realised that these Primark trousers (I've definitely had them since I was about 24) would do instead.  They are also too tight so it's luckily the cricket jumper is long.
I just wore my white Adidas trainers- these were donated to me by my stepfather as they didn't fit him properly- luckily we have similar-sized feet!

CBC's Lily White genuine Panama hat (which I bought from Oxfam 7 years ago) was easily customisable with my vintage spotty scarf.

The final item in the outfit is the jacket.  I bought this a year ago from eBay- it's actually a retail jacket from Whistles but it's a dead ringer (although cropped and no piping round the sleeves) for PD's jacket.  It cost me £6.95 inc postage.

Incidentally, I suddenly realise that it is my 16th Blogiversary today! Yep, I've been blogging for 16 years today! Here was my first post.

I hope that all is well with you.

Much love,

Kezzie xx
