Sometimes I scream for ice-cream

Well maybe not, but sometimes I am a grumpy rat even if not a screaming rat.

CBC is VERY GOOD at trying to make interesting plans for the weekend. Inevitably though, they are often thrust upon me last minute. Or I have a headache. Or both. I am an ungrateful wretch but I do find it hard to be grateful when I have a headache. I just feel like the proverbial bear with a sore head.

Like yesterday.  CBC went off to cover some cello teaching for someone.  And then he came back and invited me out on a walk with his boss linked to World Challenge. I don't know why I was so grumpy about it except that I had a headache and it was raining and I had a headache.
We went and although the headache did not subside, it was really good to be outside and walking.
He also wanted to go to the Leigh Folk Festival afterwards.

I don't really like outside festivals. It's a combination of crowds, no where to sit, being stuck in roasting sunshine, amplification and just the slow speed at which you can progress anywhere. And I had a headache (did I mention that!??!)

Yet, despite this, he was right that it was good to be there, although we didn't see alot and so we went along today after church. And despite my still being a grump and it being very hot, we saw some really wonderful music.  Cardboard Fox and Nick Pynn were amazing. So sometimes, it is worth being dragged out unwillingly.
Not much to say about the accompanying outfit except I wanted this Emily and Fin dress was SO LONG! I fell in love when I saw it on various bloggers. I resisted for a year and it sold out of course. But sometimes the odd Ebay search is fruitful and I got myself a new one for a third of the RRP in January and have bided my time to wear it.

Of course, I had to pair it with my DIY Ice-cream cone brooch!

Hope all of you had a good weekend.
xx

  2. Ice cream ahs been my June theme for decorating my Daily Record Book. The daily Record Book is guaranteed to make you mention a headache, and requires much jollification, in mu humble and proverbial. I hope your headache is better- husbands are very useful. We must remember to tell them occasionally!

  8. My Joe is always in trouble for spontaneously springing an outing on me, usually when I had a nice cosy night in in my PJs planned - I need a bit of warning!

  11. Now that is one fun dress! I can see zooms and fabs on it - I loved fabs as a kid! And thumbs up that you found it on ebay too! I love it when that happens.
I know what you mean about festivals. We're off to the Jazz Festival - Love Supreme at the weekend and I'm really excited but partly dreading the crowds but two of my favourite artists are playing - Melody Gardot and Caro Emerald so that will make up for it!

  12. It's wonderful to find a bargain after wanting and waiting! It's a lovely dress.
I often have to drag Andy out against his will, but he always enjoys himself (although he doesn't ever had a headache to blame). It is good to get out in the fresh air when feeling unwell, I might go off for a wander, I'm feeling rather glum myself today with an eye strain induced headache of my own. Must book optician appointment!

  13. How wonderful to track that fabulous dress down for a fraction of the original price, it looks wonderful on you, the colours are so cheery and Summery.
I love an impromptu outing (and crowds, loud music and hot weather) but we'd be a dull lot if we all liked the same things.
Have you considered seeing a chiropractor about those recurrent headaches? They can work wonders. x

  14. Ohh I totally understand! I'm always in such a bad mood when I have a headache! I just want to curl up in bed and sleep! Although walking outside is probably helpful :) You looked lovely and at least you tried to make the most of it despite having a horrible headache haha :) I need to look on Ebay to find bargains like you do! :) xx

  18. Such a sweet treat you are, dear! I find as I get older everything that tries and takes me out of my home I resent. But then I go and have a great time. It is an odd shift. You really do look so beautiful!

  21. This is an adorable dress and obvioulsy worth waiting for to get it for that reduction. You look very cute and not like me when I get a headache - I look grey and washed out, kinda pinched faced and never, never up for a photograph! Great brooch too x

  22. Love the dress - now I want an ice lolly. But what I really want to know is where did the bee necklace come from? I may need it!

  23. The dress is adorbs, and I love the honeybee necklace, of course :) About being dragged out to DO THINGS ... when our kids were smaller, we were doing this kind of thing all the time, whether a church event or some cultural event that I felt it would be a "good idea" for them to experience. Frankly, I am an introvert and a homebody, and at some point I finally realized that even thought it was "supposed to be" fun for most humans, I rarely enjoy such crowd events, no matter what they are. If it's hot, requires walking or any interaction, or waiting, NO Thanks! :) I make an except for open-air classical music concerts in lovely venues where you can sit on a blanket on the grass and nibble a picnic and look at the stars as they come out. That, I like.
