#BEDM: Introduce yourself

Blog Every Day in May blogging challenge with Rosalilium

Hey there!

I decided to try and join in with 'Blog every day in May'. Elizabeth at Rosalilium set this fun idea up. I did her Blog everyday in November a few years ago and that was what really got me into pretty much daily blogging. I never have any shortage of things to post about but still, it's nice to do these things!

If I hadn't completely forgotten I was going to do this (thanks Lizzie, you reminded me!) I might even have done the whole embarrassing vlog but you know, I have horrid looking hair today and it's dark now.

Sooooo.... the majority of people here know who I am. It may be no one new comes and says hi, that's ok, you lovely regular friends will just have to watch the reruns of the me me me show (and it's a double episode)!

So, here I go.

My name is Kezzie, I'm from Essex and I am heading nervously towards my mid 30's, generally meandering in a chaotic fashion.

I have been blogging 10 years and began when I was a PA and had my evenings to myself.Oh those halycon days of not having to do marking, planning or any of the general tasks you have to do in your evenings as a teacher. Oh yes, I should have said that. I am indeed a teacher, teaching primary in a nice standard primary school in Essex. Yes, I am afraid we talk about teaching alot though fear not, that doesn't always feature here!

I teach mostly music and I am very happy about this, even though my ears take a bit of an asssault on a daily basis. I will probably go deaf from exposure when I am older which fills me with dread.

Despite music being my first love, I have always enjoyed a variety of interests through my life. Nowadays, the non-school tasks which I enjoy include: much reading, making cards, swing dancing, playing in a chamber orchestra, composing music, singing, acting very occasionally, writing oh and blogging. Other interests come along at times.

I studied music in London and I have about 4 sets of letters after my name (aiming for a fifth at some point soon- thinking of doing my LRSM flute playing diploma). Most people don't care about this but in my tender years where many of your interests and aims built, my dancing teacher had about 7 sets of letters after her name and I used to sit poring over the show programme and thinking I'd like that to be. My husband (oh yes, I have one of those) laughs at how I lead my things in my childhood and teenage years. I don't being 'like a child' at times.

Oh, I suppose I better tell you about him. He's lovely and also a musician and teacher. We got married about a year and a half ago and we met whilst playing music in a Norman church. He's from Northumberland

The old travelling question. I LIKE travelling but I am not an ardent 'Must go somewhere new' creature. As a musician, I have lots of friends in different places so I enjoy visiting friends around the UK. I've travelled in Europe a fair few times. my favourite country is Germany or Austria perhaps, because I can actually speak the language. I HATE not being able to speak when I go somewhere so I will always learn SOME language. Oh, and I speak Indonesian fairly well too. That is because I lived in the lovely island of Bali for a year. I had a scholarship to study Gamelan, the percussion ensemble of Indonesia. Bali is the only place outside Europe I have ever visited. It was fun but I missed cold weather! (I shock myself saying that!)

I am not an overly ambitious individual in a professional sense because I have no desire to be a leader of others, I am definitely a sheep and would never want to be a deputy head or head teacher BUT I do like to be good at things and it makes me cross when I am not! That said, I lead music in my school but I am the one teaching it, so there's not many actual adults to lead. I loved teaching Literacy, French and Dance the best when I was a general teacher.

Blogging-wise, I really care about the friends I have made through blogging and I try, try, try to be a loyal reader if I can (comment setting dependant), nothing can feel ruder than constantly leaving someone comments and they never reciprocate. I love blogging and I see no reason I would ever give up, I enjoy actually forming words far too much
However, I am not ambitious in terms of wanting to do any of that promotional, pro-blogging part. I like reading the success of my friends who do it but I can't see myself in that capacity. I don't do any other social media, a) because I can't be bothered and b) I spend far too much time blogging and if I did anything else, that would suffer and I have work to do and instruments to practice etc.

If you decide to pop back here, there's a real mixed bag:
I tend to post about (in no particular order or specifying quantity):
a) books
b) things I make (mostly cards)
c) things I wear- includes inspirational challenges, Style imitating Art
d) random rants and interests
e) photo scavenger hunts
f) the occasional penned poem.
g) my faith as a Christian
h) music I've composed (occasionally)
i) school
j) Northumberland
k) places I've visited
l) general hippy waxing lyrical over some place of nature or my local park
m) my family
n) HATS!
o) What is it? Use your imagination for what the picture is.
p) charity shopping
q) occasional non-card based crafts
r) blogs I like
s) food I eat or make
t) music (very rarely)

and how could I forget:
u) DOCTOR WHO

If you've got through all that, well done, make yourself a cup of tea and thank God you managed to reach the end of the mental labyrinth and leave me a pretty comment!
Ciao for now!
xx

  1. Brilliant! I really know so little about you, I didn't realise you taught music. But I had picked up on the Dr Who love!!! And the hats!
Looking forward to reading more. (Isn't that the sign of a good book, being left wanting to read more?)

  2. Oh I always love to learn new things about people. I am like you and I have no interest in leading, but would like to be excellent at what I do. I have several letters after my name too but they have not been terribly useful nor are they particularly impressive. I am so impressed by your musical talents and I adore your creativity and general wackiness. If I could have designed my dream teaching job I would have taught only art, literature and creative writing, but there is no market for that, at least not where I live. Maths, science and computers are where it's at, though specialist teachers in PE, music and learning assistance also tend to be in demand. The PE teachers are usually the ones who become school principals, which is, I think, the equivalent of your head teacher. Is this comment pretty enough? I do hope so. Happy weekend, Kezzie, dear.

  4. You are such a lovely sheep though, dear. And, yes, that is the first time I have ever used that phrase before in case you're worried :) I liked your bio section there, learned so much. Blogging every day? I would have to start doing shdow puppet shows every other day to fill that all in, plus I would run out of tights :) Yes, to answer your question from the kind comment you left me, the legs in the mustard tights are mine. Last week and the week before I posted them in bright blue. It was a challenge from another blogger and then I just kind of thought it was fun! XO

  6. Everyday? That's admirable. Clearly, you are a blogging pro. I enjoyed getting to know more about you. And I laughed about your goal of getting more letters after your name. Heh. I admire your musical talents, in playing and dance. I have friends at the local uni who have played Indonesia as well. How interesting!

  8. Love this post. I read your blog for a while now and I had no idea about a few things. It's so exciting to blog every day for a month, I can't wait to read your posts xx

  9. I look forward to reading even more posts from you. I think I'd be setting myself up for failure if I signed up to this (although I did manage BEDIN a couple of years ago) but it will be nice to read your posts

  10. I loved your mental labyrinth! Although I know your blog and yourself for some years, it's always nice to read about it and yourself again! I knew about Indonesia, but didn't know you spoke the language, wow! I, like you, don't try to be a leader, like some people want to. And ooooh, when I read "my ears take a bit of an assault", although enjoying teaching music, I couldn't help but thinking of me and my mistakes at the faculty now :) Poor professors! Anyway, I always love reading your thoughts and I hope you have a great weekend!

  11. I enjoyed learning a bit more about you and I'm seriously impressed to learn that you can speak German...and even Indonesian? kudos to you:)

I think such blogging challanges can be great but at the same time I think that somethimes it is good to take some time away from the blog so that it doesn't start feeling to much like a job. That being said, I'm thinking about trying to do it myself....I mean posting every day. We'll see:)

I do enjoy everything you post about and I like blogs that are versatile. Those of us for whom it is a hubby, should make the most out of the libery that we have. What I most love about blogging besides meeting lovely people online is this feeling of having a place of my own....a place where I can post whatever I like,

  12. I love learning new things about you especially that you speak 5 languages but I'm sure you speak Latin too or even Italian. I always knew that you had smarts and I wouldn't bother ironing if I had your smarts. hehe. You have an impressive musical background.

Take care and enjoy what you do.
    Hugs,

  13. Kezzie, I meant to add that I used to blog every day and when I sat at the keyboard, I had no idea what would come out but the minute I would touch the keys it was like magic. As I got more followers, I didn't had enough time to post after I finished commenting.

  16. I love Austria. It's probably my favourite country - I lived there for a year and I'm always happy to go back. We'll see whether Switzerland manages to sneak past it in my affections now though ;-)

  19. Cool! I enjoyed blogging every day for my Be Real March thing, but not sure I could keep that up long term and at least it was more photo based than loads of words. I'm struggling to post a couple of times a week right now, so it's probably a bit ambitious that I'd manage an entire month, daily! Looking forward to you BEDM x

  20. Hello fellow BEDM-er! I signed up again this year (for the third time) - I must be mad! :-) xx (I still can't believe you've been blogging for 10 years as well - fair play!)

  21. Although I have "known" you for some time there were still some new things to find out, so thank you for sharing, I really can't believe you have been married for 18 months now x

  22. Wow, you've done such a lot! It must have been amazing to live in Bali for a year. What an experience? Good luck with BEDM! x

  23. That's you, Kezzie!! :) I'm pleased to say that you didn't mention anything new to me, which means I've been reading you long enough to know you pretty well in a bloggy sense! I was glad to see you mention "what I wear" as a topic, b/c you do blog about your very fun clothes and your very fun taste, quite often. I love that b/c I don't EVER. I can't think of the last time I posted a photo of any clothing I bought - haha! Now I need to go look up where Essex is. I'm sorry to say I don't know.
And as for blogging every day? You go, girl! I've found myself blogging less often recently for some reason.
