I'm sure I am guilty of that on many occasions and yet, I do feel, I do like to see the joy in something.
Someone said, when I said I wanted to go and see the bluebells in the woods again,"But why? Surely they are the same as last year?"

But no, no, no, that is not true. Every bluebell is unique. Every year is different.
You are in a different place in your life, you see things differently.

Spring is fresh each year. It never fails to delight after the cruelty and interminable nature of Winter.
Spring is a gift.

Do you see these photos as identical? Do you think I have shared too many different pictures, capture too much of the same?

Or like me, do you see that light hitting those hues in different ways, the alternative hanging of those tinkling bells. Do you appreciate their subtle nuances and individual glory?

Having seen other bluebells, do you grow contemptuous of yet another set of 'identical' photos from a blogger here, a blogger there? Or do you revel in seeing that beauty represented in different times, places and through different perspectives?

Having selected only a few from a myriad images, I wanted to represent the gift of as many of these proud blooms, their fleeting beauty shared and immortalised here. This is their time, let us delight.

They stretch, thousand upon thousand in random groups, never uniform yet achieving an overall community.

Along the margins of a treeline.

Seeing this beauty through the first time eyes of my niece. Teach them the continuous appreciation of something young. Never allow those words of contempt for the 'same old, same old' to form.

Appreciate, rejoice, grow nostalgic and anticipate these annual occurrences.

Engender a love and appreciation for seeing the uniqueness of each form.

For appreciation of this type helps appreciation of the individuality of others.

Happy memories are associated with this place, this time. Past bluebells memories intertwine with present, building a joyous tapestry of memories of blue bells, past, present and future.

Say those words with alacrity: "Same old! Welcome same old friends!"

"Come and enlighten and enrapture my life!"

And perhaps you will see something new in those experiences each time. Surely, this is the most important facet of healthy living, a healthy heart and mind and soul.

And a joy of these familiar practices we continue each year.

"See you next year, Same Old friends!"

BEDM for today was 'Healthy living'. I firmly believe appreciation anew is a crucial facet of healthy living.
I totally agree with you, dear Kezzie! No bluebell is the same as the other, they are unique and every year they bring joy! I think that the fact that you have happy memories linked to them also make you feel the magic! I am a bit like the first sentence - always looking for new adventures or things or experiences - and many become lessons :) or all of them, in a good way! But I also love "old" things and I respect the memory and the message they have for us! Hope you have a very nice weekend!

What a wonderful text, I completely agree with you...every flower is always unique...and every Spring is a miracle in a way.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos btw...I enjoyed bluberries while we had them, now the roses came to bloom.
I meant to write bluebells not blueberries...to answer your question, I would recommend a few smaller coast cities Zadar, Makarska, Opatija, Pula and Trogir...the two islands where I spend the most time are Hvar and Brac...but Vis is also really nice.
DeleteIn the Spring, the capital Zagreb is absolutely lovely...but in the Summer it might be too warm there.
Lovely pictures Kezzie, so much beauty in a bluebell. I love to see them :) x
ReplyDeleteEvery year different indeed! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat is a plethora of bluebells...a bounty of bluebells...a bunch of bluebells...well, its quite a bit of bluebells. And the idea of seeing old things in new ways in especially appealing to me as I am also an old thing...though not a bluebell...but still it might apply.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! If we can't find joy and delight in something so beautiful then really what's the point?
ReplyDeleteI went back to see our bluebells twice this year, the second visit wasn't any less enjoyable because I'd been a few weeks earlier.
Lovely pictures Kezzie
What a poetic post. I never get tired of seeing bluebells in bloom. Our garden is a mass of blue at the moment! Gorgeous photos. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous photo - every experience is different and no day is exactly the same but its so easy to forget that sometimes.

I agree with you - the bluebells (and everything else) is different every year and how we respond to them will be different each time. Some years are better than others too so the show may be even more spectacular every few years too - I never tired of visiting the same places and experiencing the same things time and time again - there's always a new delight, a new view, a new feeling...
ReplyDeleteBluebells are so pretty! Really lovely photos :) You could definitely get away with making them bigger if you wanted to as they're so pretty! It's so lovely that you have somewhere nearby where so many of them grow, I'll keep a look out for if I can see some near me XD xx
ReplyDeleteI never get tired of seeing bluebells - they just shout out 'joy' with their little bells. Beautiful post Kezzie. I remember hearing once that if our climate changes and the temperature goes up by even 2 degrees the bluebells wouldn't grow cos they need the cold winter, freezing cold, to be able to germinate. That makes me appreciate the Winter more...
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! With photography of the natural world, I tend to mine the same subjects over and over. One might expect I'd get bored but I don't -- we can look more closely and see smaller differences than we did before. You're right -- every flower is unique. Good insight!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Post Kezzie ,wonderful!
ReplyDeletekisses :)
These bluebells are mesmerizing! I love how you phrased thinking about the phrase, "same old, same old" in a new light and finding the beauty in things we already know well.

I'm here, I'm here... but I'm back on the blog, tomorrow. I recently resigned and have spent the past month applying for new jobs, going to interviews and writing reports - it just hasn't left any time for blogging. Wah! How are you? xx
ReplyDeleteI love bluebells - and most flowers, in fact - and photograph them every year. And then put them on my blog! Same old flowers (and same old clothes, kids, places, same old me!) but that's fine. I like the comfort of familiar things, and as you so rightly say, every sight or experience is still unique. I like that Heraclitus quotation about how you can never step in the same river twice; life is a little different with each step, or photo. xxx
ReplyDeleteI never get bored of seeing such beauty xx
