Rainbow bear and Rainbow Smile!

We've all probably seen the rainbows in windows.  These are something we are being encouraged to draw and display in our windows to give children something nice to look out for and count on their daily exercise walks.  It's nice for adults too!
The other thing I've heard about is displaying a teddy bear in the window also so children can go on a Bear Hunt. It's also been a way to show support for much-loved children's author of We're going on a bear hunt, Michael Rosen.

On Wednesday, I decided I wanted to do something for my window.
I wanted to make something out of recycled materials and because I am a bit lazy, I've not managed to put the remaining cardboard from my Phoenix wings into the recycling.

I decided to make a bear holding a rainbow!

I used a Sharpie and colouring pencils to make my rainbow bear.

Yesterday, I wondered what I could have done with my remaining cardboard and decided I would make some rainbow letter bunting.

I tried it out in various windows but decided it didn't sit very well because of the size of my window frames. So I decided to tie it to my front door.

We put the bear in our car window because we couldn't see it very well in the house windows

Here's hoping it makes our Milkman and our Postman smile!

A rainbow has been a sign of peace and hope ever since the times of Noah!

Have you made a rainbow?
xx

  2. I'd seen your bear on Instagram and liked him very much, he looks cheerful. I like the SMILE banner too, I'm it will make people smile when they see it.
Our windows aren't visible from the road even though there are more people walking up and down it at the moment, so I made a rainbow and shared it on Instagram instead.

  4. What a lovely idea! I didn't know about leaving a teddy bear in a front window to entertain children who walk by. I do see that a neighbour opposite has put a drawing of a rainbow in the window. I know of its significance as a symbol of hope as in the Bible and now used in society generally for the same reason. It's very quiet in our neighbourhood being a no-through road (a winding Crescent). We stay at home interacting by texting one another and looking out for one another's needs such as a bit of shopping, taking repeat prescriptions to the GP to get regular medicines etc. I hope you both have a peaceful weekend.

  5. I put a teddy bear in my window even though I'm not sure Swiss children will understand (or if you came even see him from outside - we're on the third floor). I think your banner will definitely make the postie and milkman smile ♡

  10. The bear you made from cardboard is so sweet and adorable. I like that it holds a 'stay in' sign. Such a great idea dear. The smile rainbow letters turned out so well. You have a talent for making things. You made such a lovely contribution to this initiative.

  11. I love your bear and smile banner, so cheerful! I've made a little rainbow 'be kind' sign, and I made a video for work's facebook page showing how to make a rainbow to put in the window, so my examples are hanging in the window now too!
