CBC and I met our friend for a walk near Danbury lakes in Essex during the holiday- it was really nice to get out and about, get some air and see somewhere new!
There MUST have been some scouting activity as we saw these socks pegged up and saw loads of socks scattered around the woods!
CBC is still wearing his red raincoat! I had to keep running to catch up as I took photos!
The colours except shades of brown really have left the leaves now.
The light was beautiful across this lake.
Not quite so picturesque, but still pleasing.
I like it when the water is so still you see a great reflection.
A little bridge to cross the stream.
Here we saw the old Ice-house from Danbury Place. In the past, rich families on opulent estates would have ice made and stored in these cool places for the summer months so they might have it ready for desserts and drinks. In addition, for special events they would have intricate ice-carved models or animals for table decorations. There would be a heavy door on here to keep the ice-cool from the warm-summer's air.
Here you can see the inside. I love the mottled colours of the brickwork
Finally, as we neared the conclusion of our walk, I spied this branch sticking out into the lake. What does it remind you of other than a tree-branch? Leave a comment below as to what you think it is?
We reached the main road and decided to walk to the church to extend the walk. Danbury's North hill is the highest point in Essex.
The skies were beautiful as the sun began to set.
There is always something beautiful to see, even on a dull, cold winter's day. I appreciate taking photos for the blog as I really do think it helps me to see with a more discerning and appreciative eye!
xx
It's definitely a giraffe!!! Are you going back to school tomorrow? If so, I hope it all goes well! Jx
ReplyDeleteThat branch is definitely Emu! :D
ReplyDeleteIt's an animal, but unsure what. A doe?

What a nice walk!
ReplyDeleteI think the branch kind of looks like a giraffe reaching for a bite to eat.

Meant also to explain about S's name. She is Savanna, but she likes to be called Vanna.

What a beautiful place to visit, Happy New Year to both of you X
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos. I love the ice house. Nothing like that around here! That tree branch is an obligatory blogging deer.
ReplyDeleteHi Kezzie, I'll attempt to answer your question about Google account...
ReplyDeleteIn the past Google allowed other blog provider sites to be able to follow blogs powers by Google but now are removing this ability. Obviously they want more people choosing Google account.
My blog is registered with a Google account so pretty soon, you will not be able to follow me or leave comments unless you get a Google account to identify yourself on my blog. You can get a Google account and only use it for visiting blogs who are using Google like me or for email.
Setting up a Google account is easy. You won't be the only one affected by this. Many will loose the ability to follow unless they get a Google account.
I don't like this at all but there's nothing I can do but let my friends know about their intentions. Things keep changing all the time as soon as we get use to it...
I hope I won't loose you or anybody else.
Hugs,
JB
On the second line it should read to follow blogs powered by Google.

I am thinking greyhound dog for the whatzit. I thought the lights in the ice house were the subject of the game. I see very much in there. I chuckled when I read you also have to shoot and sprint. My GF just keeps on walking when I stop to take pictures so I am forever double timing it up the path to catch up.

It's a giraffe (or at least I think so).
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photos. The first landscape is lovely!
Hi Kezzie, the socks and stockings you saw were part of The Big Winter Feed. It was held on the 23rd and you had to take a bag of bird seed with you and walk around the park filling up all the socks and stockings and answering a quiz. There was a campfire and hot chocolate too. It was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. They collected about 46kg of bird seed. I think you must have passed my house on your way. The views from behind the church are wonderful aren't they.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and I thought it might look like a deer but then a giraffe as suggested by Hazel has to be it!
