#5 brooches #16

Hi y'all!
Back to the brooches!  It's hard to believe I am up to my 16th brooch post! Admittedly, some brooches have featured twice but even I am surprised just how many I have!!! Many have been amassed over the years- some are from my childhood, some have been acquired over the last 15 years , gifts (surprisingly a large amount!) and at least a fair few over the last year or so. Charity shops have much to answer for too as do craft fairs as does the large pack of shrink plastic I bought purely initially to make a celery and cat brooch for TARDIS Tuesday!!

Onto this week's catwalk...

Buy one, get two free today!!! I was wearing a VERY dull outfit of black top, cardie with black skirt with pink flowers on it and I had the idea to use the brooches to embellish the collar of the dress to jazz it up a bit.
By happy chance, I remembered last minute that last week's Style imitating art was this picture of a sunset by Georgia Okeefe which used shades of pink  and that sunset hue, so I figured my three brooches made a fair nod to that, combined with this Gharani Strok scarf! I didn't bother to photograph the whole outfit as frankly, the brooches were really the only part of the outfit that were imitating the art!

All three brooches were presents- bottom from blog friend Hazel, top from my friend M and the middle one from Jille who was my cracker blog partner 3 years ago!

If you want to see how everyone else styled the painting, see Jen's post!

"Sunrise” by Georgia O’Keeffe
The 4th brooch was this Ladybird Likes one which came in my goodie bag. I decided to keep it in the end as I wasn't sure who to give it to! It was a nice subtle touch on this tartan dress!

The fifth brooch was Dorothy from Goodnight Boutique on Etsy. I love the Oz illustrations!  It came in a £5 goodie bag I bought early last year which was great value as I received 5 items including the Harry Potter brooch brooch I showed in a previous post and the perfect aeroplane bracelet for my 6 year old niece's birthday- she's made on planes and it was her favourite present! Wish I could find the Sirus Black animagus brooch I also got which I lost! I guess I'll find it down the back of a drawer when we move!!!

Any great brooches this week??? Do share!

Some great brooches were seen elsewhere!

Lisa received a beautiful duo of birds on a branch from her fabulous sister!

Char wore her beautiful bison necklace with an amazing handmade castle dress! She also has an axolot and another one!

Donna wore the beautiful D brooch her granny bought her to perfection on a Mustard cardie!

Salazar is DEFINITELY my brooch inspiration- it's her beautful placing of delicate brooches that led me to explore those I owned again! Here she made a tiny robot out of a broken necklace
Amazing combination of 2 brooches

  2. I was thinking the exact same thing, 16 weeks, brilliant! I love the Dorothy one and that's a great idea to cheer up a plain outfit with multiple brooches. I really wish I was back to wearing clothes on a daily or near daily basis, so I could join in. You've barely had any doublers either!

  8. Love the three brooches in one - very creative! And the Dorothy one is so cute.
Just doing a catch up on your news - is your move unexpected/unplanned? Is that too nosy and rude of me to ask?
    Lots of love

  9. Three very gorgeous shots and the brooches are pretty too! That sunrise one sure catches the eye especially. Vivid, bold art. I like it! Silly pictures of me as a boy on my blog if you get the chance, dear.

  14. Piling on a bunch of big bold brooches is a fab idea for adding interest to a plain top - clever you! Look at little Dorothy and a rather grumpy Toto, they're adorable. xxx
