As usual, I am enthusiastically tardy in my entry to the Scavenger Hunt with Greenthumb at Made with love. Skulking at the edges with shame but glad to be here! We definitely have a variety here!
En avant!
Question
The Scene:
(At John Lewis Birmingham New Street, staring up at the amazing Atrium ceiling.)
CBC: I wonder how they clean that? Could they clean it?
Kezzie: Errr...? (Stares up blankly). Look!
(CBC and Kezzie look up. Funny you should ask that...)
Cream
At Hexham Spook Night, where CBC and I went to watch the judging of the kids fancy dress costumes, we sloped off to Mrs Miggins' coffee shop for a hot chocolate.
The waitress smiled in a knowing fashion and asked if we'd like that with cream and marshmallows. We agreed. It came specially dressed for the 31st October.
CBC had bought two books in the charity shop- Cirque du Freak and Little House on the Prairie. To my amusement, he thought he was posing with the former rather than the latter!
Mwa ha!
Number
In Blanchland, after a walk. Rudimentary but apt.
Lattice
Taken about 2 seconds after the number, "Ah, a lattice work at last!"
Familiar
In Hexham, the familar site of the Abbey, towering above all. I love this view of the clock tower which reminds me of a robot mixed with King Rollo!
Ring
Would madam like a ring of cushions?
or "Ring, ring! It's for You-hooo!"
Today
Today I took a walk in the petrifying and austere woods and DIDN'T get eaten by wolves.
Down
Looking down on the Tyne river (where the salmon jump) from the Alston Arches railway viaduct.
Writing
Technically carving (in the middle if you squint!) but writing despite this!
Many
Many crispy coloured leaves littering the ground.
Broken
Pavlova broken at the edges (and demolished in less time than it took me to type that!)
Not the best of photos, but I was gleeful to see a Lenticular cloud (Stratocumulus lenticular maybe?), which resembled a flying saucer haunting the Northumbrian fields.
Have you taken any photos this month? Do share if so!
I will try to catch up with some comments as soon as I can! I've read a fair few posts on the train but not had too much time to say howdy!
xxx

Glad to hear you're managing to catch up! Positive thoughts your way!
ReplyDeleteCatching up can be quite a job but you seem to have managed very well. You did well on your scavenger hunt too.... I haven't taken any pictures this past week but I've managed getting a lot of garden cleanup in between rain storms. I'm still not finished. One sunny day, one rainy day kind of weather.
ReplyDeleteI twisted my foot and it swelled up so much I couldn't put my barn boot on. So my garden cleanup is going to have to wait till next Spring I'm afraid unless the swelling on my foot goes down.
Hugs,
JB
I'm sitting here with my foot up and my son had to take up my barn chores.
That Pavlova looks delicious.
Little House on the Prairie is my favorite horror story. Vintage telephone looove.
ReplyDeleteWould you like some chocolate with that cream sir? lol I love the ring of cushions too ... Great photos as always Kezzie - ( I wish my flipping computer wouldn't keep spell checking your name as Kenzie!! - fancy a new name?)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're getting caught up - I'm still struggling trying to get any blogging done - it's either blogs or comments ... not both and it's much more fun reading everyone else's lives .. But I love this challenge - both doing it and seeing what everyone else has come up with. Have a great week :)
That creamy concoction in a cup looks so decadent - and delicious!
ReplyDeleteWhat an odd and fun coincidence; 2 nights in a row there were references to Little House on the Prairie on blogs. I watched those shows growing up but never recall reading the books. Glad you are getting back on track, so sorry for your troubles. Great selection of shots.
ReplyDeleteYou always sound so cheery and it's refreshing to visit your blog and encouraging to get comments on mine when you're so busy. All the best with the catching up with work prep etc. A great set of photos - very imaginative and I've learnt about how that ceiling gets cleaned, that salmon choose an interesting place to take a leap and that you have a sweet tooth. (The pavlova and the hot chocolate with the cream on top look delicious and I would have enjoyed those too).
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and great interpretations of October's topics. Love the ring of cushions, the pavlova looks delicious as do the halloween hot chocolates, love that the cafe is called Mrs Miggins coffee shop and how your question about cleaning the windows at the new John Lewis was answered:)
ReplyDeleteI am so hopeless at the photo scavenger hunt, I always forget to take the list with me. This month I shall try it!
ReplyDeleteBetter late than never :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic collection Kezzie! I love your photos for ring (both of them) and question made me laugh! The hot chocolate looks amazing and I love that photo of CBC posing with Little House on the Prairie - haha!
Wow, big drinks, big puds, big rings of cushions, love it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Grand Central yet. Isn't that terrible?
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. xxx
The way they clean the windows doesn't seem that techie :))
ReplyDeleteWow, I love those clouds (though I wouldn't have had a clue what type they were if you hadn't said!) Gorgeous photos from the north-east, and I'm tickled by the pic of your husband posing with a hot chocolate and Little House on the Prairie. It takes a real man to acknowledge his love of marshmallows and Laura Ingalls Wilder!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back in the land of the bloggers, Kezzie, but those 2am work nights sound tough. xxx
Lovely pictures Kezzie, oh wow that pavlova looks so good!!
ReplyDeleteAs always, a great selection of photos. I do tend to have similar thoughts seeing fancy or high ceiling things! That ring of cushions is a serious display attempt! Aw CBC looks very sweet in that photo with his LHOTP book!
ReplyDeleteOh, Kezzie, your enthusiasm bubbles over! I don't mind if you're late; I'd mind if you didn't join in! I'm cracking up over your husband's photo with "Little House on the Prairie." It was always a favorite with my third grade girls. May I recommend "Sarah Plain and Tall," another favorite of theirs? I loved "question," because I've often wondered the same thing, and I like to take photos of people doing work. The photo of the abbey clock is bathed in gorgeous light. I am addicted to blogging too, although I'm not fast at it. Terry is giving me the evil eye right now. I'm supposed to be lying flat; on bedrest for a little medical problem right now , and he thinks I've been propped up on pillows blogging too long. (I'm okay!). Happy hunting in November!
ReplyDeleteSo funny that just as CBC was wondering how they clean that beautiful glass ceiling, some works appeared cleaning the windows....and you got your answer. As far as I noticed, they were wearing security equipment ( a climbing gear of some sorts) so good to know they're safe while they're working.
ReplyDeleteThat coffee place looks wonderful....and that chocolade seems yummy! I love vintage books, I have loads of them. I don't think I've read these two...maybe some day.
I WOULD like a ring of cushions!! Look how pretty they are :) And one of those INCREDIBLE looking hot chocolates to sip (/devour - who am I kidding?) whilst reclining on said cushions, please. xxx
ReplyDeleteThat hot chocolate looks seriously good. We always have an extremely naughty one in Glastonbury at Heaphy's
ReplyDeleteHehe, love the CBC shot! xx
ReplyDeleteThat ring of cushions looks incredible...I love how they did it. x

Love the ceiling adn how you found out how they cleaned it. Hope you will see my entry of photograph (anad story around them) Have a great month ahead and see you next time
ReplyDeleteOh I forgot entirely! I like the clouds and the ring of cushions, that sounds so comfy and snug. The hot chocolate looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteLove that colourful ring of cushions and your man with Little House on the Prairie...will he ever live it down? The cream and marshmallows on the hot chocolate look moreish, not sure about that blue shoelace(?) though.
