Having missed last month's Scavenger Hunt with Greenthumb over at Made with love, once again I've scrambled around rather late in the day, sorting through photos trying to find some to fit the bill. I hope you enjoy them.
Where you stood

Standing beside Haltwhistle Burn, Northumberland. Alas, these walking boots have gone missing! Where oh where are they?!?!
Down low

A view down from Cragg Lough- near Hadrian's Wall- more on this soon.
A view from here

Nearing Halsteads, we hit the golden hour.

At the start of the wall, looking across to Cragg Lough
A favourite thing

A truly wonderful Christmas present for CBC and I was tickets to the Queen Elizabeth school Hexham Christmas ceilidh. I absolutely adore a ceilidh, especially one where everyone knows what they are doing! In between dances, the Hexham Morris Dancers put on a performance.
Front door

The oldest house in Hexham. You can see the date above the door.
Sweet

I received rather a lot of sweet items for Christmas- this is not everything.

Christmas

Ah for me, what Christmas means. Simply, a boy, the Son of God, born in a stable. No bright lights,no flashing or a song and dance. This beautiful carved present (from a log) was a present which came from Bethlehem, given to me by a lovely pupil at school.
decoration

CBC and I are a little disorganised. The only decorations were 5 silver snowflakes hung from our mirror, tinsel drapped on top and these cotton lights which live on our mantlepiece all year round.
Tree

A rather ancient and frowny-looking tree in Kent.

The hollow tree previously featured in all its glory.
Tradition

This could have been my decoration picture, but seeing this beautiful, tasteful display in our local area reminded me of a Christmas tradition we always did as children. My Mum would take us out in the car to go and see the Christmas decorations in certain places- there was a certain crescent near us where the neighbours would try to outdo each other. My sister and I always used to count the Christmas lights and decorations coming home from our Grandparents or from a church we went to. It was our favourite Christmas game.
Black & white

Interesting how sinister the shadows make this deer look.
Whatever you want

I haven't had a chance to share our little decoration we bought from our local market. We thought he was rather cute.

AND, I found a NEW face in the rockface alongside Haltwhistle Burn!
I'd love to know if you take part at all.
Here's the list for January.

What ever you want
It looks as if you had a great time in Northumberland. Sending loads of good wishes to you and your husband as the new term arrives tomorrow. I managed to get the Year 8 reports (due on Wednesday) sorted before Christmas and wrote some Year 11 resources... but a large pile of Year 10 marking is going back into school completely untouched. What's the betting that I wake up worrying about this at around 3 in the morning? ! Ha ha! Jx
ReplyDeleteI love all your photos Kezzie. I especially love the one with the golden glow. It's so beautiful. The landscape is so beautiful in the UK. I've been to Scotland in the Spring for my daughter's wedding and the scenery was just so beautiful and green with lots of Rhododendron in bloom. The wedding took place in the University of Glasgow chapel. Great memories for me.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
JB
So many deer :) this makes me happy xxx
ReplyDeleteI like your door decoration! SO CUTE! Mmmmmm . . . lots of sweets! I was thinking about Easter candy the other day (love it!) but first comes Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteTake care, good Kezzie!
Great photos - I like all the outdoorsy ones, of course!
ReplyDeleteWhat great interpretations. Love the face in the rocks.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing idea - I'll have to take part next month.
ReplyDeleteLizzie Dripping
Yes do, Lizzie!
DeleteOh yes that black and white does make the deer look a little evil!
ReplyDeleteLove the front door, simplicity speaks volumes.

Thanks for taking part in the last scavenger hunt for 2014, great to see your photos I really a IWW from here, door, and decorations. Greenthumb
ReplyDeleteA great selection. Love the blue lights on the mantle. I will be taking part its one of my new years resolution listed on my blog.
ReplyDeleteYour country is so beautiful, Kezzie, and I love the photos of your countryside! The log from Bethlehem is something! I used to get a lot of sweets at Christmas too, when I taught. I hope that you found your missing walking boots! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI had rather a lot of chocolate for Christmas too!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures Kezzie, love your blue cotton lights. Aww your Cath Kidston dress caught my eye in the first picture, I got this for Christmas from my son :):)
ReplyDeleteI've missed a lot of Scavenger Hunt's lately, so it's fun to catch up with yours. I love the blue decorations, and I also love the door of the Priest's House. And the frowny tree! Beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteWell slightly depressing to know I am a full 2 years older than the oldest house in Hexham, but I guess it beats the alternative :) What a funny little concept this is. Resulted in a great, random bit of lovely shots though.
ReplyDeleteNice photos, I wish you a great year 2015
ReplyDeleteAah!! I think I've FINALLY solved the problem of your blog posts not showing up on my feed! Thank goodness. I would love to try TARDIS Tuesday - what do I need to do?? Also, I just watched the Christmas special and thought it was one of the best episodes of the season!
ReplyDeleteAlso, that little felt reindeer head is really cute XD

Ok, so you need to wear something Doctor-WHo themed (this can be VERY tenuous!)- TARDIS blue (basically any bright or navy blue), an outfit inspired by a companion or Doctor (long stripy scarf, tank top, cricket jumper). In fact you could TOTALLY say this is a Clara outfit (you could base it on the navy blue blazer and blue patterned dress she wears) the shoes, tights, skatery skirt, are totally Ms Oswin. Or you could wear all grey=Weeping angels, spots on a skirt, stripes on top= dalek, etc etc. Any sort of Clara-ish looking outfit would do or Rose etc!
DeleteHave a look at my previous ones:
Then you need to add a link to www.myclosetcatalogue.com to your post and visit Maricel who set up TARDIS Tuesday and add your link to her inlinks feature. It runs for a week so you don't need to do it ON Tuesday. It's a very new blog hop so she's keen to develop it!!x
Anymore questions, just ask me!x

DeleteI always enjoy these posts. I tried to take part once (years ago), but don't think I ever got round to publishing it. Seeing as I hardly leave the house now, my photos would have to be very much down to interpretation, heehee!
