You know all this blog talk about Autumn? I'm sorry, I don't quite get it. Perhaps it was because I was away (in the sun) and then spent most of the last week mouldering over a computer (school prep) but things have felt the same to me, I'm curiously immune to it! Sunday was gorgeously warm and sunny and I wore this ensemble to church. It was a sad day as it was the vicar's last service before moving to a new parish. He was SUCH a lovely man and I am so sorry to have missed the last 2 months of his services (I've been away that much!) but there is always the promise and hope of the new incumbent- the Lord provides!! There's a time for everything in heaven and on earth, so there must be a time for change!

I was absolutely determined that the day would be sunny on Sunday and it was indeed, so the outfit I picked out was just fine. I actually find this lemon-yellow broderie-anglaise Topshop dress (Charity-shopped of course), quite hard to wear- I last wore it with a panama and heart-shaped sunnies in the yellow-peril post but I wanted to wear it in a different way that didn't quite it look quite so 'little girl'.

Thus, I teamed it with a Primark Daisy-print blouse tied-up, added these Clarks suede kitten-heel shoes (clothing-swap party) and then added more accessories- old Daisychain crown from Poppydaisy, daisy-earrings (?) and daisy bracelet (Tu). Finally, added my lemon necklace to play on the whole thing

To be honest, I'm not so sure I managed to stop it looking 'Little girl' but at least I achieved a different look with it.

I'm determined to get some mileage out of my beloved summer dresses so that Autumn-blogger bandwagon is passing by this house, untouched for now!!! Call back later Pal!

As you read this, I'll be back at school. I'm trying not to be blue about it, but it's just been a wonderful holiday and I am, I admit, anxious about this new school year, there just seems SO much change and despite doing lots this week, I still feel vastly unprepared! A new headteacher (a maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!), lots of new teachers joining (5-6), lots having left, a new timetable (no Reception and instead- a whole day's worth (spread over the week) of random non-music lessons in year 1 and 2), trying to find the time to train the Reception and nursery staff in music and juggle sharing instruments, a WW1 concert to organise, trying to gather evidence and finally apply for Threshold (upper-pay scale), the possibility I might still be chucked out of my lovely new classroom back to my deafening rabbit hutch, having to sort out all my 6 clubs again, process letters and applications for these (a laborious process), adapt to a new national curriculum or at least silly key-skills that we follow, having to train an orchestra with mostly new beginners, the possibility of my role at school changing to a scarier one. I will of course, adapt, survive and find the enjoyment and joy in it, but whilst it hasn't happened, I just long for the halcyon days of last year! God be with me! And you too!

Big thanks to WOMOTM for my new tripod since the old one vanished inexplicably!
Amen to all that!! Off to a KeyStage 1 planning meeting myself ...
ReplyDeleteIt still feels like summer here, too. I haven't jumped on the autumn bandwagon yet! That sure is a lot of change and lots to adapt to for the new school year. I would be anxious, too. But I am sure you will do just fine! Lastly, I love this outfit. You look bright and summer and gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you look little girl-y at all, just fresh and summery and lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing my summer dresses too, no need to pack them away yet awhile - in fact I wear a lot of them throughout the year, I just add tights and a cardi!
Lots of change and hard work ahead for you, Kezzie, I can see why you would feel a little anxious, but you're a skilled professional, you can do it! xxx
Its still summer here - I've just spent the afternoon on the lawn lounging in my bikini. Lovely outfit. xxx
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! Love that yellow color!
ReplyDeleteI love how you've styled this with the blouse over the top. I have a couple of yellow/lemon dresses and find them so hard to style and wear. I think the past couple of days have felt warmer again, soooo dark at nights though. We need to put on the lights/close the blinds at the back of 8! Hope school goes well.
ReplyDeleteSoCal living pretty much dictates I live in summer dresses 9 months out of the year. Don't envy me; I hate heat. You look lovely in your bright yellow frock. J'adore!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a ray of sunshine in your attitude it makes sense to display it outwardly as well :) Very cute necklace and very lovely legs!! 2 outfit posts in one night from you? I could get used to that :) xo
ReplyDeleteReally love the daisy additions to this outfit!
ReplyDeleteOh my! It sounds like there's a lot of change afoot for your job this year - best of luck with the Threshold application.
ReplyDeleteI've been lusting after yellow clothing all of this summer, but I can't wear it with my current hair colour- I'd look like Big Bird. xxx
Agreed. I'm back at school this week too - trying not to miss Summer too much.

Well, the outfit is adorable. First I thought it was a skirt/top. Very cute. And I love the necklace -- so neat! AND ... I love the wooden building you're standing in front of. I love buildings, and notice them everywhere :)
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about the challenges of a new year, changes at a school, new admin (eeekkk!!!) and being shifted around in responsibilities. It always left me with a sinking feeling in my tummy. And I always, always feared being unprepared, so thus I overprepared (always) -- haha! You'll do great. You are clearly both gifted and dedicated. Good luck in your new year!
Ah, a gentle rant, yet a rant all the same. Well said Kezzie! You look like summer itself in your sunny yellow dress...and I would have picked those daisies too!!! Stay calm, all is well!
ReplyDeleteLOve your outfit its gorgeous x
