Charity shop prizes!

We all love a bit charity-shop voyeurism here in this here blog world, don't we! Well, I had one or two lucky finds before the holiday, but not my usual fare!

CBC and I headed to our town's high street one Saturday in order to relieve Waitrose of 2 of their finest hot chocolates (hurrah for freebies!) and I nipped into some of the charity shops.

That week, I had announced a competition at school to design the front cover of the school concert programme (this is back in July). CBC's school does it, my primary school did it and so I thought that I should do the same. I had announced there would be prizes for the winner and a runner up.

When I went into the Marie Curie shop near Waitrose, I spotted this brand new sealed pack of Caran Dache colouring pencils for a neat £2.50.  I knew these were good ones and so pounced but when I checked online to see how much they retail for, they seem to start from 36.90 Euros to  56 Euros for a box of 30. I did well!

These went to the first prize winner, who was actually a violinist, and I also gave her a brand new hard-back violin book that we'd found at my Grandad's and a few other bits.

The other find, in the same charity-shop was these three 'How to draw' books, also brand new, which cost £1 each so I kept one and gave one to each of the winners.

Not bad to be able to give a really nice prize to the kids for very little cost!

  1. Fab chazza finds. I took Sam in a charity shop during the school hols and he bought a Harry Hill Joke Book which was the worst charity shop find ever in my opinion.

I've won lots of undies this year from Curvy Kate and a cook book from Pampered Chef but I haven't got that yet. I must chase it up!

I get so much from charity shops that I find it almost impossible to list them all - mostly they get resold. xxx
