CBC and I celebrated our first anniversary on the 9th of August. It's hard to believe that we have been married a year now and this time last year, we were enjoying the last week of our honeymoon in Switzerland!
We celebrated our anniversary in Haltwhistle and Hexham. It was an interesting day as CBC got up at about 6.30am to take part in the 'Hell of Hexham' cycle ride, so I woke up to an empty space, but on the pillow, was a paper bag with a present inside. A beautiful little acorn necklace. CBC has a silly nickname for me Kezzie-Squirrel and so I thought the acorn was really cute! Plus, since it was our paper anniversary- from an acorn grows a tree and from a tree comes paper. I was thinking he had come up with this really clever way of representing our anniversary!

I hadn't actually got him anything at the time as I was hoping I could buy him something he'd choose from Corbridge, but belatedly, I found the perfect cufflinks for him made from vintage paper maps- there was ONE pair of Cufflinks saying Hexham and Haltwhistle on each one. What were the odds of that!?
I spent the morning in Haltwhistle before we drove to Hexham for lunch. After a brief trip to a nearby town to take CBC's sister and husband to a party and an explore of the village show, we met up with WOMOTM for a lovely Italian meal, followed by watching 'The Hobbit Part 2'- in 3D back in Haltwhistle. CBC was all excited seeing a 3D film for the first time. I just had to console myself with wearing the 3d glasses as I cannot see the 3d stuff due to my dodgy eye!. It was lovely to have a family anniversary and spend time with family on our anniversary.
I have enjoyed getting to know my beloved husband even better this year as we have lived together. I am glad to say, I love him dearly and I very thankful for him.
xx
Hasn't that year gone fast! The acorn is lovely and what a brilliant find with the cuff links, what are the chances of that?! Sounds like you had a lovely day. A belated Happy Anniversary to you both :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments earlier, I see by the comment you left on the JTT blog that you read the last post there so now know how I discovered where 'he' had gone. He got 15 months which is great for me. I've loved my summer job - will be updating one of the blogs when I get chance about it, would dearly love it to lead to something else, but that doesn't seem likely. Still, at least its' a foot in the door and a bit of school holiday income :)
Happy anniversary! I love your acorn necklace. It's so cute!
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy anniversary! It sounds like you two had a lovely day. I love your little acorn necklace and the story behind it. The vintage paper map cufflinks sound so cool, and ideal for your paper anniversary! Anyway, congratulations, and may you enjoy many, many more happy years together :)

ReplyDeleteMany blessings to you both, and congratulations on your first year together! The necklace is so lovely. What a perfect choice! I recall on our first anniversary, Adam bought me a "paper" gift too -- a kids' game called Spirograph. So funny! Our kids (later) played with it for many years. May you have many years of joy ahead of you!
