Hey there! I am linking a little late to Inspiration Monday with the lovely Two Birds due to my sister taking the photos (and me forgetting to take them!)! I made a little mistake with it! When I quickly glanced at the look on Sunday via my Google follow list, I only noticed the girl in the background on her phone, so er- my inspiration look was based on her rather than Ms Theron on the left: DOH!!!
Anyway, I saw an all black outfit with a scarf and boots. However, I did go for leggings, so a little bit there!
I decided since we were going shopping, to combine a black cashmere sweater with a flippy multilayer skirt, floral/stripy scarf with daisy-print leggings and purple boots! And, the lovely Salazar of 14 shades of Grey has inspired me with her great brooch collection to wear this Mullenhauer recorder brooch I've had for about 22 years- it's an actual working recorder brooch though it's very high and squeaky!

I am aware that this is not the most stylish of looks but it was quite comfy and easy to get on and off for shopping!!
Also, since it's Tuesday, I am linking to Tah Dah Tuesday. What is my tah-dah, I hear you ask?

Well, I never really find many really exciting vintage pieces when charity shopping but I was pretty excited to find a vintage Aquascutum skirt in Oxfam- it looks rubbish in the picture but it's a lovely khaki button down skirt (no buttons missing, just undone) and it will be perfect for lindy-hop- I'd like to try to work it into a sort of 40's look maybe??? Anyway, I am pretty excited about it! I'm not really one to care about labels but it's always nice to find something you actually have heard of in a vintage item!!
I also made a lovely mound of roasted veg with goats cheese! I love this dish as a really easy way to eat lots of veg and it's great for the winter months! It's very easy to do as you are probably aware. However, if there are any roasted veg virgins out there, then here's your chance:
Chop everything up (in this case, butternut squash (skin on), courgette, sundried tomatoes, carrots, pointed red peppers, onions) and put in an oven-proof dish with lots of marjoram, balsamic vinegar and olive oil (you can also mix this lot up with tomato puree too to make it more saucy) and mix the veg so it is coated in the oil, vinegar and herbs. Cover it up with foil and put in the oven for about 45minutes on 200 degrees (might need to be longer depending on your oven, possibly an hour until the squash is tender. To be honest, this is guess work, so keep checking it!) Finally, add in the goats cheese and roast without the foil for 10 minutes more! And voila, a tasty meal. I served it with chinese leaf cabbage and spinach! Delicious!
I am having a lovely time watching Ugly Betty whilst typing on my laptop! I love the holidays!!!
Hope you are well!
xx
Oooh and HOW lovely and sweet of the lovely Val Sparkle to do a post using me as her outfit inspiration! I was really flattered and touched- she rocks the tweed and florals look together- check her out!
Ooh can you eat the skin on a butternut squash when it's roasted then? I hate peeling the damn things!
ReplyDeleteHurrah for designer finds and I am quite amazed by your working recorder brooch!
I saw her post...you WERE inspiring! I love these leggings...where are everyone getting these great prints on their tights and leggings? And the purple booties are great, a perfect color. Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier! Debbie
ReplyDeleteThat's Charlize Theron? What's she done to herself? I thought it was Justin Beiber!
ReplyDeleteLove the leggings, very funky. xxx
Hi my dear! The Aquascutum skirt was an amazing find, well done indeed and your roasted veg and goats cheese sounds totally delicious too! Hope you're enjoying half term! xxx
ReplyDeleteThat broach , as well as the vintage clothing, is amazing!
ReplyDeleteNow on to you Pause in Advent. Post.
I think it's plenty stylish! I love the leggings and the scarf!!
ReplyDeleteThe roasted veggies sound delicious! I love roasting vegetables!!
I like your outfit and didn't think you looked un-stylish at all! That's a fantastic new skirt too.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I have good news in my latest post!
That brooch is wonderful! I loooove Charlize Theron, I think she's absolutely beautiful and very inspiring considering the tough ol' life she's had.
ReplyDeleteRoasted veg & soft cheese is totally my eat of the moment*. I tend to go for feta rather than goats cheese because I like the extra tang, but yes yes yes to the butternut squash. And balsamic vinegar. Mmmm....

*Slightly odd phrasing so I could justify singing bodged version of Asia's Heat Of The Moment whilst typing.
I'm pretty hungry now! That skirt was a great find and it looks great!
ReplyDeleteRe the skirt, I'd have to see more of the inside to know more - have you had a look at my dating vintage clothes post? Check the seam finishings, the fabric content, and zip style. It looks from the pictures like it has elastic in the waistband, which generally indicates 70s or later.
