Just a quick post for you today! I often find it hard to throw away cards I've been given because they are pretty and it feels wasteful. However, I would live in even more chaos and mess than I do anyway if I didn't dispose of things so I do get rid of cards. But, if I think an element of a card can be recycled into something else, then the legacy of that card lives on.
I was given a simple card with this pretty Hello speechbubble in the middle of it. So I cut it out and layered it with 3d sticky pads onto a mint green card base. I rounded the corners with a Corner punch. Next, I punched some gold sunbursts using a tiny craft punch and layered those onto tiny 3 d pads. To finish off, if you look closely, you can see I drew tiny white dots using a white watercolour pencil.
And voila, some lucky recipient will receive an element of the original card but with my own spin!
What do you think? Is this a good way to reuse a card or do you think it's not a good thing to do?

Yes, good idea. I hate to throw it away too.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad I am not alone!x
DeleteVery clever! And you've matched the colours perfectly :-)
ReplyDeleteI tried other coloured backgrounds and they looked weird so mint it was!
DeleteI think it's brilliant! I often keep birthday cards because I love the artwork rather through sentimentality. Brilliant idea to remake them into something personal. I love the font - very Mid Century. xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, me too- it is often more about the artwork- I feel bad chucking away something so pretty!
DeleteI think it's great that you makes your own cards from scraps. Cards are lovely but they do pile up fast. I keep them for a while but comes cleaning time, I only save a few that I can't bear to throw away. Unfortunately, I'm not into making my own cards so I don't save any parts of them.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely card.
Hugs, Julia
They certainly pile up!
DeleteI like this idea!
ReplyDeleteMerci!!x
DeleteReally so beautiful, dear Kezzie! It's great to recycle things and more than that, something so meaningful into another meaningful thing! You are such an artist! I don't like throwing cards away, because they were sent from sweet people (yours is on my wall in front of my bed, I told you, together with other meaningful cards - with dresses, shoes, things that people know I like :) Hope you have a nice day, dear Kezzie!

DeleteThat's a very nice offer but I always prefer to comment on a few posts on the content and then decide to follow a bit later on, I'd be happy to visit your blog though!
ReplyDeleteI think it's very creative and pretty!
ReplyDeletebeautiful card...and kudos for recycling!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! You really can't beat a nice hand made card xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a great thing to do, the card has already served it's original purpose. Making another card to give to someone is recycling at it's best!
