Enough of that skullduggery, onto the main event.
I thought I'd continue with the brooch fun and continue to share some of those I own. I've made a few over recent times, but even I was surprised how many I appear to have (and still do have) to post.
Speaking of which, I am honoured that I am joined in the brooch sharing by two lovely blog friends, Ang and Val, who made reference to my posts (apparently I ordered Val! Er, I think I did!). If you love brooches, do go and check out their lovely ones! Val even makes her own!
Tuesday- I know Curtise likes this one- I bought this giant red button brooch in a charity shop a year ago or so and I usually wear it on my red beret but last Tuesday, I felt the heart cardigan lacked that certain je ne sais quos and it jumped ship! I like the toddler feel to this one!
And finally, we have the tenuous TARDIS Tuesday tangent- this Doctor Who logo pin. I've had this one since I was 14 and it is the McGann film logo. My friend Sarah and I travelled up to London and were in HMV. I asked at the counter if they had any Doctor Who things (I was a brand new fan) and they handed me and Sarah these pin badges that were being given away with any Doctor Who purchase but they were happy to just give them to us! Freebies!!! I used wear it on my blazer to school along with my Prefect badge as a nod to Ace, a character from Sylvester McCoy's era who had lots of pin badges on her bomber-jacket sleeve. Yes, and when I got a bomber jacket, I added them to the sleeve along with my Blue Peter Badge (oh where is it!?!?!??!?!!).
You might notice it is nestled against what could tenuously be described as TARDIS blue.
But no, I am not finished there with why this is a TARDIS Tuesday post:
"Dark star alloy. Goes through armour plating like a knife through people. It's pretty though isn't it. Got it from the olden days in Gallifrey. The Doctor gave it to me when my daughter..."Did you catch that in Doctor Who on Saturday? Seee, even Doctor Who is in on the brooch act!!! A brooch used as a plot device!!! Ha ha, I'm so ahead of the game!!
"You cant kill a Dalek with a brooch!"
"Yes, you can!"
Speaking of which, I favourite line of the show, which so many other people didn't allude to:
"I hope you are grateful It wasn't easy to procure and very nearly unique of course. You should feel privileged. The only other... CHAIR on Skaro!"I LOVED that line! And the Doctor reacted to it so nonchalantly!
So, I'm proving to you again, how tiny your nod to TARDIS Tuesday can be- even a little brooch!

ReplyDeleteI love the yellow brooch on the clouds, such a shame when a brooch leans, my friend told me you can sometimes stop it by pinning a piece of felt on the inside of the garment when pinning on the brooch - might be worth a try?
I missed Dr Who on Saturday as I was sitting in a tractor...
You're right, I do like the giant button! And the yellow flower too, despite its leaning tendencies (sometimes you just need to put a tipping brooch on something with bulkier fabric, like a coat, to hold it in place). xxx

(and the owl one is so adorable)...so funny that the episode of dr.who you saw recently involved a plot with brooches....talk about perfect timining!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOK, I admit that I skipped all the Dr Who stuff :) But the pins are adorable. I'm too chicken to wear brooches, but I love to see them on others. The yellow flower and the toadstool are particularly charming :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of your Doctor Who pin! Soooo jealous! I like to wear my geeky brooches to work, where small children whisper to their parents 'that lady likes Doctor Who' and then I get to have a cool conversation about Doctor Who!
