Hello there!
Firstly, I'd like to ask something:
1.) If you're a reply blogger (e.g. you're not a noreply blogger), if answer your comments, do you get it emailed to you?
2.) If no, to the following, do you read replies?
I never know whether to reply to comments or not as I'm not sure if they're read or not!
Secondly, thank you for all your encouragement re the choir. A few days on and I've managed to get the choir number up to 20. I've approached a few children and discovered: one form got lost, an older member didn't send a form in; she assumed she was just in; a few thought they could only apply for one club so didn't put down another choice and a few, I've asked them and they'd obviously not even thought about being in a club so hadn't applied and were happy and pleased to join. So that's a bit more positive. It's not the 53 I had last Autumn but that was 4 years groups as opposed to 2 but I'd like 25- that's a good number but, thank God, I am grateful for my now, 20!!!
My drumming club is the perfect number of 18- any more than that is too noisy! I CAN take up to 23 BUT it's a bit unruly!
Today, a fellow staff member bought me in a beautiful green 1950's dress that doesn't fit her niece anymore- she hoped it would fit me as it is tiny, so I am hoping it will- it's stunning! Apparently, her niece reminds her of me and she says we have very similar taste!
I thought to combine these clothing items together and I'm pleased how well they went. I adore this charity-shopped dress (worn as top) but it's got a dodgy loose button down at the bottom which I worry about popping open so wearing it as a blouse is perfect! Worn with me-made ladybird skirt (By Hand London Flora pattern adapted) and a cardigan bought in a pop-up shop in Wallingford and my Rieker sandals bought from the shoemender on Haltwhistle high street- I like to support the independent businesses in Haltwhistle when I go up there!
I thought I'd include a rubbish out-take. A spin that just didn't work!!!
Hope all is well with you and you have a delightful weekend planned. I am playing at a village 'Last night of the Proms' concerts and have to dress up American flag themed! We're playing a virtuoso flute duet based on American tunes like Yankee Doodle by Doppler! Apart from that, it's DOCTOR WHO time and a quick look in the charity shop in the village with my duet partner!!
Love
Kezzie xx
Hi Kezzie! Yes, I have my comments and my replies linked to email. My friend Ron at From Sophie's View taught me that. It's easier not to miss a comment or a reply to a comment.
ReplyDeleteI read every comment, and I nearly always reply to every one. And I do get back to blogs to check for replies to my comments.
My problem is that I travel a lot, and I have a hard time sticking to any schedule, so I sometimes get behind. But I do try to stay on top of things!
I also tend to be a binger and don't want to stop whatever I'm engrossed in to do something I should be doing instead! I really appreciate when someone leaves a comment, and I want to honor that! That's probably more than you want to know!
Loved your cute outfit, and I'll bet your kiddos love seeing what you are going to wear each day! Have a happy weekend! good luck with your performances this weekend! Hugs!
Ah ok!! That's good to know. I replied to comments for a while when I had time but as I am a no reply blogger because of school (don't want parents emailing me!) Thus I don't receive replies to my emails. Ha, I'm a bit of a binger catching up on blogspot too!
DeleteI'll try to reply when i can!
My kids do tend to like what I wear, esp novelty items but mostly girls. Thanks for the good luck!Xx
I comment on your blog every opportunity I get - which isn't regularly, but often enough - but I don't get an email if/when you respond to me. Usually, most blogs offer that "email for replies" option, but yours does not so I try to comment with things that don't require replies. Don't ever feel obligated to reply to mine then. :p Aly and I both adore this skirt! And huzzahs to your larger class size!
ReplyDeleteI always appreciate when you do comment but I know you're busy. That's v considerate of you, thanks!!
DeleteYou can click.the Notify me box I guess!
I'm pleased with both skirt and children!x
I reply to all comments, if I don't it's a genuine mistake. Sometimes people reply to my reply so I know they are read. Plus it might be something that someone comes across if they're looking through the archives. Hope that's what you wanted to know.
ReplyDeleteI like the dress as a top too.
That's great! I've looked at your replies a few times because I know you reply!
DeleteThanks re the top!x
I thought YOU were a noreply blogger. You have to change it if you are. MK taught me how. If you send a reply to a noreply blogger they do not get it.
ReplyDeleteYou are a busy girl!
I am indeed!! Ah ok!! That's good to know. I replied to comments for a while when I had time but as I am a no reply blogger because of school (don't want parents emailing me!) Thus I don't receive replies to my emails.x
DeleteI don't always remember to tick the box to be notified about follow up comments, but sometimes I come back to see if there's a reply.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I try to reply to every comment that's left on my page, quite often I get out of track and don't get back to reply until ages later. Really would like to improve on that.
Well done on the choir and percussion group - fair play to you - 18 kids playing drums! Wow, you're brave lol
Have a great rest of weekend and enjoy the gig tonight.
Fil x
I forget that too! I replied for a while although some comments are easier to.reply to than others! Then I got too busy! You're very good at replying I trunk. Thanks, yes 18djembes can be a bit much! I alter it and do samba too for variety and sanity!x
DeleteIf I know that a blogger usually reply to our comments, I go back and check their responses to my comments but not many bloggers does that as it's time consuming.
ReplyDeleteI personally don't usually respond to comments because I simply don't have the time to spare.
I always go check your comment on your cloud posts however. I love that little game.
I love your flaring skirt and think it would be fun give it a spin on the dance floor with it. That cardigan is just so sweet and goes perfectly with it.
I'm so glad that you rounded some more students for your class. Good luck with getting more. Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
JB
You are very busy and you always respond here on my blog anyway which is so considerate! You're so good at the cloud game!!!
DeleteThe skirt is fun to swish in!!!

Aww what a sweet and lovely look, so perfect for you. Great news on the choir! I cannot imagine any kid not wanting you for a teacher, what a treat! Yes my comments get mailed to me resulting in happy emails through the day :) I reply to the comments on the posts that mean the most to me or if it will be a few posts before I can do a group thanking. Some people never check back, some do. I was checking back on yours for a while but it seemed like the responses stopped so I have not been recently. With people as busy as they are I never expect responses to my comments, I only get miffed if my comment is not responded to while others are. Hurts my little feelings it does.
ReplyDeleteYes, I tried to reply for a while but then got busy and wondered whether anyone saw them. Plus I.didn't want to.unnaturally boost my comment count!
DeleteI usually don't know if people reply to my comments. If I remember I've commented then I will check back, but I don't often remember.. I try to reply to people's comments on Fat Dormouse... in the text (as you know) and at The Teapot in the comments section - but I often forget the second. Which is not kind, if people have taken time to comment first.
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely as usual. Do you know Cassie Stephens' blog? She is an art teacher who wears the most fantabulous outfits and does the most amazing art work with her classes. I find the outfits amazing and the artwork inspirational.
You are very good with your replying to comments in the main text!
DeleteI don't know her, do you have a link for her, I would love to see her blog!x
Here's the link, Kezzie
Deletehttp://cassiestephens.blogspot.fr/
I don't get an email if a comment is replied too, it would be nice to get one though wouldn't it? I tend to check back if I know a blogger tends to reply but sometimes I forget.
ReplyDeleteThis is what I like about Disquis, at least you can have a bit of dialogue but I'd rather not switch to that.
I might do a bit of research to see if Blogger have bought out a reply widget that we'd need to enable, I'm surprised they haven't got something.
It would, I agree.
DeleteThat is good about Disqus but I don't like it, particularly as I feel it makes people less likely to return a visit as it is harder to reply.
Yes, I'd be intrigued if you find a widget!x
I reply to most comments on my blog because I enjoy extending the conversation, but I realize most people don't ever see my replies. Which is okay. Thank you for your sweet comments -- they always make my day.
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad to hear the choir situation is improving, hope it only gets better from here for you Kezzie! Love this outfit too, the prints are so cute and I love that photo where you're twirling as well. I do get all my comments emailed to me but I also try to check my posts. I always reply now by commenting on their blog as whenever I commented on their comments I never used to hear back so it seemed easier to just comment on their latest post! - Tasha
ReplyDeleteSo cool that you wore that polka dots dress as a top and I like that skirt you wore over it...such a cute mix of prints. That cardi is fabulous. You look so pretty and lovely. I hope that vintage dress you got fits you, it's nice of that lady to think of you. I also sometimes get vintage clothes from people, they must have noticed I like it. I'm happy to hear you have pleanty of students for your groups.
ReplyDeleteNow, about the comment. I do usually leave a short comment in reply and leave a longer one on the actual blog of the person (unless it is a comment by a non blogger). I like to leave a short answer because that helps me keep track and to make sure I registered every comment but I prefer to leave an answer on the blog of the person who asked me something because I can't be sure will they have time to get back to some old post of mine.
I love this outfit (and I think the spin works!). That's good that the choir has enough kids in now, it may even grow once it gets started and word gets out :) I find the reply function on Blogger frustrating because I know that people don't get notified if I reply to their comments on my blog, so I ended up not bothering. I really enjoy conversations on Disqus though, so I've just installed that on my blog. Hopefully that'll help me get better at replying!

Distract Me Now Please
Kezzie, your talents never cease to AMAZE!! I love how you are dedicated to your profession and the high standards and passion you share with the children. It gives me a great sense of hope for the future. I'm relieved that more kids came out for choir (I've missed a few of your posts, sorry) and their their absence was no fault of your own.
ReplyDeleteI like to reply when I'm asked a question, but when I click someone's comment, there is almost always a "noreply" link, and then it's often hard to find an email address to reply to and sometimes I don't want to put my replies online. So I get stuck.
The pop-up comment window doesn't even offer a Reply feature; the in-line comment window does have the Reply feature but it's hard to scroll to see the blog photos whilst you are commenting. It's not a perfect world! If only these were its only problems.
If I know someone often replies, I often swing by that earlier post when I drop by again to check if there's something there.
I think that's all. You look gorgeous and I love your spin shot!
I don't know either about the whole comment/reply thing. I've asked other people on my blog the same question and some people get my responses and others don't. It is difficult to know if it is just better to visit their blogs or spend time responding on your own. When you figure out the perfect answer let me know : )
ReplyDeleteI adore the ladybug skirt!
bisous
Suzanne
The reply thing is why I switched to Disqus - I always reply to comments because it just feels polite but as a commenter, I don't always remember to go back and read replies unless I get email alerts via Wordpress or Disqus.
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is so cute! I love your little cardigan. I hope the concert goes well! :) xx
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing,
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday.

Hope your weekend was a good one, lots of wonderful things were planned.
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt and I like the 'twirly' photo, you look like you are having fun.

I never expect people to reply to comments I've left. If I had an urgent question for someone I'd email them or message them on Facebook. I never think of revisiting blogs and reading replies to my comments, keeping up with reading posts is time consuming enough without revisiting previous ones.
ReplyDeleteFab outfit and a great twirl. xxx
I get your replies by email; I like them, but don't expect to always get them either :) I admire the way you layer skirts over dresses- it's a testament to how svelte you are that you can't tell you've got double layers on! Think I'd end up looking like the Michelin Man :p xxx
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what a reply blogger is! I suspect it's a blogspot thing and I'm on WordPress soo *shrug*. If I know bloggers reply to comments I will go back and look for them, and with WordPress blogs I get a notification anyway.
ReplyDeleteOn my blog, I always reply to comments now (I didn't always do this, but have done for the past few years). It's rare the original commenter comments back a 2nd time, but sometimes they do (if the comment is more a conversation with questions back and forth), so that makes it feel worthwhile. It doesn't bother me if they don't, as like I say, sometimes it doesn't warrant another reply, but sometimes I ponder if they know I've replied. Now I did receive an email from you the other day....ah it was about the brooches and I hadn't ticked anything to receive a reply. I must admit I like Disqus for that reason, that it emails me replies and though I never reply back, it's nice to know it's been replied to. Anyway, very nice outfit and well done on getting the choir numbers up, fantastic.
