I really should know myself by now. I say, "That's it! No more shopping!" and then I just take a teensy look in a charity shop! All sense goes flying out the window like a projectile missile and I am entranced by the item I behold. I am, however, saying, that I shall not be buying anything else for September (she hopes the willpower holds).
As you all like the gratuitous sharing of finds, I thought I'd share my finds from Saturday. I only went into town to go and pick up a prescription from the chemist near Barnados. Just a little look in there and I found loads!
This delightful collar was immediately in my eyesight as I perused the blue rack in the shop. Pretty collar and dots is always a winner. Peplum, not so much! Luckily, this H by Henry Holland top is a size 14 (which it didn't say on the label humph) so the peplum isn't too er- peplummy!
This Topshop broderie anglaise dress is going to replace the black tulip hem shift dress I bought last winter in a charity shop- it always rides up and feels too short so I liked this as an alternative. Nice flippy hem too!
I like it more than anything when you see something you wanted first time round. This Tu by Sainsbury's dress has some sort of purple fruit on it! I'm convinced they are aubergines (I wish) but I suspect they are plums! It's 100% cotton so it's a winner for me. Purple tights and a longsleeves shirt underneath- that season beginning with A that I refuse to mention in September, will not stop me from wearing this well into the aforenotmentioned season!
Again, I found something I liked first time round. I saw this Jaeger Boutique dress with tiny ladybirds on it in the John Lewis website last year and really liked it but I will not be buying a dress from there at sale prices neither (the sailor dress was an exception. Sailor dresses don't conform to normal rules! It's really cute and despite the chiffony material, the loose sleeves make it tolerable for me- plus, it's more A***nal (word banned in September)
My final find excites me beyond all else! There are certain items on my 'imaginary charity shop wishlist' that I hope to find. For me, as my fellow-charityshopper Anne well knows as I've asked her to keep an eye out, that is tap shoes in my size!
I used to do dancing as a child and tap was the only one I was actually good at AND enjoyed. At Goodnight Sweetheart swing dance camp last February, there was a tap taster class which I almost went to. I decided not to in the end as CBC wanted to go to something else which I also was interested in, but regretted it. A fellow swing dancer has also told me about tap classes in her village hall.
Finding these Capezio Oxfords in size 8.5 (they come up small) filled me with absolute delight! I tried them on in the shop to check (and was asked to dance!). They are snug but tolerable. Capezio is a great make for dance shoes and they are in great condition. They did cost me £9.99 but let's be realistic- I am not going to find size 8 tap shoes again! These ones would cost at least £45 if I bought them new! Considering all the other items were less than a fiver, I was quite glad with my splurge out in Barnados!
Have you found anything good recently? Fancy sharing? I'd love to know!

I love your tap shoes! Yay!
ReplyDeleteYou are a good finder and I'm glad you found some dresses for the season that you will not name! Lol!
I was going to tempt you to return to odd shopping some more for the month by regaling you with false tales of great finds, but that sounds like bad friend behavior. And I prefer to use my bad friend behavior in other ways so...pass. Plus you were kind enough to mention purple tights so I am in your debt now. Great finds! I am sure there are absolutely no other good ones left in any store for the entire month. I checked!

What lucky finds, Kezzie ~ especially the tap shoes! Oh, and that pretty blue red-dotted blouse! You have such a sense of who you are and what works for you ~ an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI am a fashion disaster! I read a book called "Simplify Your Life" years ago, and that was the start of my downhill bad fashion slide. Now I'm going to start improving. I have to, I'm running out of clothes! LOL
Have a good one, dear Kezzie!
You found some amazing pieces! I love the first blouse and last two dresses especially! x
ReplyDeleteOhh, great finds! I've not been charity shopping in ages and never find anything as lovely as this when I do!

First of all, I'm loving the word 'peplummy'.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great haul! The peplum is adorable, my favourite of them all I think (love navy, love polka dots).
I hope the tap goes well, I think it's fate that you find these shoes when you've just heard about a tap class. Did you dance in the shop for the sales assistants??
I have to agree with the peplummy word :) Delightful to read first thing in the morning.
ReplyDeleteYou do so well in the charity shops. I found a fabulous purple felt coat in one at the weekend - the only thing is it's a bit big for me, which I didn't spot in the shop cos I was freezing cold and it made me feel so warm - not sure whether to pass it on for someone else to have a magic find, or take it to be taken in. Decisions, decisions ... Have a great weekend Kezzie
I love all those dresses! Especially the ladybird one, soo cute! and tap shoes, they look so fun! :D
ReplyDeleteI've seen that plum / aubergine dress before but hadn't realised it was TU - what a find! And I love the collar on the first top - HH is notoriously naff at sizing consistency, so I'm sure it will be great on you.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I understand it :) I am much better considering shopping (it means, more conscious), but sometimes I "slide" and things happen... :) But as I said, I feel I am better :) I was going to say that I love broderie anglaise, but then a new lovely item followed and I loved all! The tap dance shoes, wow! I used to practice it too, but with Mary Janes, and recently I looked for mine again and I can't find them... the price of yours was great, I have been researching and I only found at £55! I need to find mine soon! XXX

What ever you want always turns up in the end, that's the way it works!!
ReplyDeleteLove the plum dress and the dotty top and the ladybirds, what a really great haul this lot is.
I can take a quick photo of the knitted kerchief thing and email you it if you like.

Hey, you MUST take a video of you tap dancing (preferably in one of those cute dresses) and post the clip on the blog!
ReplyDeleteLove all the finds, great prints, and all very you. If you see things which you like and know you will wear a lot, it would be daft not to buy them, don't you think?! xxx
I say this EVERY TIME you do a charity shop finds post but my gosh, your charity shops are awesome. I really, really need to come to Essex and have a rummage.
ReplyDeleteYou always find some lovely things! I should really start trawling through the charity shops near me :) I can't believe you finally found some tap shoes, what a good find! :) xx
ReplyDeleteWow, great items here. You always seem to do so well! I tend to be quite good at bags and jewellery but not so good with other things. I do however do rather well on e-bay and have had some great successes there. Although recently I bought 2 bags from a local charity shop, for the 'A' word that shall not be mentioned, for a grand total of £6 and I thought that was good!
ReplyDeleteI love them all! Especially the Jaeger ladybird 🐞 dress! I wanted that one and the sailor one. How lucky you've been to find them both. I'm a size 10, but sometimes buy a 12! The collar on that Henry Holland is gorgeous. Smitten! I bought a flamingo top for my return to teaching today! It was £4.79 but brand new with tags. I realised today that I've given up on the high street! X

ReplyDeleteYou did do well. Those Sainsbury's dresses sold out in hours when the launched them.
ReplyDeleteThe Jaeger dress is fab, their stuff is quality. Those shoes are brilliant. £10 for a pair of leather shoes? I bet you'd have to pay more for some plastic monstrosities from Primark! xxx
Those tap shoes are fabulous. When I read they are tap shoes, I loved them even more but really I instantly thought- what a great find!
ReplyDeleteGreat purchases, all of them!
I am also a charity shop addict and am always thrilled to find a bargain. I must now have a wardrobe clearout to make room for more purchases and donate a bag or two back.
ReplyDeleteI try to do a weekly post on my charity shop finds.
Rebecca
The condition of the tap shoes is really good. Often Cuban heels get scuffed but no sign of that at all. Even the teletone taps hardly look worn so I reckon you have a good buy there.
ReplyDeleteThe tap shoes are a fantastic find! Happy dancing! xxx
ReplyDeleteSeriously good finds there Kezzie. I meant to say in your other post, I always laugh at these "cold tatties" as I would say, wearing coats, boots and gloves now. What do they wear in the REALLY cold months I wonder?!
ReplyDeleteLucky you Kezzie... Now aren't you glad you went shopping even though you broke your own rule? Finding those tapping shoes was such a lucky thing for you. They almost look new. So now you will be able to go tap dancing next time.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing you model those pretty dresses.
Hugs,
JB
I think you're right, the dress looks like aubergines. Perhaps you can model it for us.
