If there is a piece that I maintain has been most versatile in my craft stash, it would be a flower punch. I have a Woodware daisy punch in 3 size and all 3 are craft workhorses for me.
You can see from the inside flower, what the basic flower looks like. To achieve the above effect, each flower is made up of three of the basic shapes. To get the 3d effect, you need a large embossing tool and basically, all you do is rub around the outside of the petals in order to make the petals curl outwards.
Apart from some self-adhesive gems (which were a present but you can get hundreds of them for £1 in The Works), the rest of the card was just achieved by punches.
An edging punch (Martha Stewart Crafts- also a present) and a star-burst punch, for the inside of the flower.
If I look back over many or most of my flower designs, there is a wealth of flower punched cards.
Would you invest in this simple tool?
It's been used for stencilling, wedding decorations and much more!

Linking with Creative Mondays with the lovely Claire. It is soooooooo long since I have linked a craft!
What a beautiful card, you did a great job and I like the calculations for the age (very clever)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! You did an amazing job on this card! I love the flowers...and the calculation, haha. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!! Simple yet effective. Hundreds of gems for £1? Just one of the many reasons why I miss The Works. I could get maybe 20 for 3CHF (just over £2) here!
ReplyDeleteI would invest in this simple tool. I love how these paper flowers are versatile. You can layer them to accomplish a 3D effect (that looks gorgeous btw) or you can use them in their original form that is suitable to be used not only on the cover of the card but inside as well (and in a letter too).
ReplyDeleteThis card looks perfect! I love what you wrote and how you alluded to the number with the card...very clever. I'm sure your friend loved this card. I treasure cards I got from my friend. Often I use them as bookmarks because that way I always have them close by.
P.S. thank you for your comment dear. Young women and girls are what worries me the most, I wonder what kind of message are we adult women sending to them. These young woman and girls sometimes don't realize how smart and precious they are...it is true that there was always lookism but today kids are growing up in a world that is all about looks and simplification of human beings...and the reality of this world is increasingly complex. Focus on looks has gone mainstream, everyone are doing it. Moreover, the children are getting all kind of mixed messages in their life. I wonder have we as society became too selfish.
That card is absolutely lovely! I bet your friend was thrilled! xxx
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot!

This is really pretty - you're so clever! I'm thinking of making cards, too, so your tips are really helpful.
ReplyDeleteI loved the flowers, dear Kezzie, and yes, I would love to have such tool to produce some flowers. Maybe not specifically to a card, but I am always making flowers for home decorating, and that would solve my life :) I use scissors, but the result is far from these beautiful flowers you make! I want that tool now! Hope you have a lovely week!

ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely beautiful card, which must be a joy to receive! xxx
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like a beautiful hand crafted birthday card made with love. Happy Birthday to your friend. xx
ReplyDeleteThe flowers look great. I saw there are so many tools for cards at hobby shops, I think they are so cute. I like the cutters to make icing flowers, but I don't usually get icing as it's only sugar, so it would be pointless to get the tools.
ReplyDeleteOh I love these paper flowers, they look so cute and the way you curved the petals up and out gives them a realistic feel too, and they look great! I definitely need to get myself some paper punches and stamps as I think they look perfect on cards, and I love it when you can add these little touches. - Tasha
ReplyDeleteThis is very lovely.. How special to give a hand made card. I'm sure your friend will love it! What a pretty punch. Thank you for sharing your sources... It's always so helpful to know where others get their supplies. Wishing you many blessings for your week.

I haven't done any card making for ages but I still keep saving bits and bobs to use on them so will hopefully get back to it one day. Your card is lovely and your friend must have been thrilled. X
