The curious dimness of Mondays

It's Inspiration Monday with the Two Birds, Nora and Megan.  Go here to see who played along! Who is this Busy Philipps?  She looks like that Geordie TV presenter who used to be in Biker Grove (I can't remember her name right now?! What was it? She played a character called Charlie!)

Here's my Busy interpretation:

Silk puss-blouse: Warehouse via St Frances Hospice, Skirt: (actually playsuit folded in), Bunting necklace: Dorothy Perkins, Earrings: Mum's old earrings, Belt: Primark, Shoes:  Clarks originals.

I intended to wear the outfit I put together on Sunday.  However, getting home late from CBC's and having to get to church to set up the prayer-tent for Back to Church Sunday, meant I just wore Saturday's clothes.  Oh well, I intended to adapt it for school today, wearing a Hobbs-skirt that was more demure.  But do you know, I just didn't fancy it this morning- it was really dim and yucksome and I wanted to wear dark colours and trousers, so I didn't put it on.  Thus, it has been donned purely for the photos, sorry, that's cheating!  I did have a query about it though.  Have you tried doing the whole, wearing a dress as a skirt tucked over thing?  I decided to wear my Pearl Lowe playsuit (featured in IM Monday in mid-August) rolled down so it essentially acted like a skirt- I've seen many a blogger do this successfully with a dress!  However, I found it quite hard negociating all the extra material, tucking it in and then ending up with a seamingly enormous sausage of material round my waist!  Eeek, I then tied a gold sparkly belt around the sausage which only succeeded in squashing it into two smaller sausages.  It looks ok from the front but if you look at me from the side, my waist looks bigger than normal! Anyone know how to solve the sausage issue?  It totally totally reminded me of being in Year 11 at school?  Did you ever roll your skirt up?   I never did until year 11, I rolled mine up for a week or so.  I had calf-length navy blue kilts and I wanted to wear something shorter so I rolled my skirt up!  The sausage conundrum presented itself then- and how could one tuck one's shirt in without revealing the sausage? In this case, quite an enormous sausage as I wanted it mid-thigh!  I shocked my friends at the time- I'd gone from one length to another (I did get bored after a week).  In fact, I ended up shocking many at school.  I was always very good (and remained so) and would seemingly not do anyting daring.  Yet I was the second person (in year 8) to die my hair red, and I did or wore various other unexpected things!  I quite like being an enigma!

If you want to know what I really ended up wearing for school- here it is:  Rather more sedate and comfy for the sobriety of Mondays!

School itself was fine on the whole- I hosted my first recorder club of the term- now split into the junior and the advanced group and it was a great start so far- I am really proud of how my Senior group have progressed- they have developed so well, so I hope that the new junior group will go forth similarly!!! They seemed keen so far!

Now go and see the other birds!

  2. i don't have a sausage solution...sorry! would the top half fit folded underneath the bottom half, instead of rolling it? either way, i love both outfits...the first one shows off your sexy legs and the second does the same thing, but in a work-appropriate way!

  7. I reallly like the IM photo - I don't think it's cheating, it's like playing 'dressing up' for a photoshoot :)

I have never been able to figure out how people manage to tuck things in / wear dresses as skirts etc, I end up with the sausage problem.
