I am very, very depressed at the thought of school tomorrow but I had a gorgeous cycle ride today (only 24 miles) with an average speed of 16.8 mph! This is progress for me as Im sure my average was about 10-12mph before! It was the most beautiful day and I really felt restored and like the cobwebs had been blown away in transit! I also felt like I had made other progress. I didn't put the brakes on so much as I went down hills, I managed to set the pace for a long stretch of the journey out in front and I was comparably fast up the hills. It was independent of CBC who went out on the official Orchid 100mile charity ride which was sad and I wish he'd been with us, but it was also good for me to know that I can cycle with other people. The pressure of cycling with others was good for me!
So in tribute to this and in a mid to fetch me out of the doldrums, I shall don the mantle of positivity, the hat of happiness and the shoes of happy memories. Yes, it's 10 to be thankful for! I encourage you to join me in thinking of things you are grateful for.
1. I am thankful for my lovely CBC. For always being good humoured when I am grumpy, for not holding it against me that I was so horrid and moody and crazy yesterday to him and to some strangers. He's very forgiving and he always encourages me about my cycling. I love him dearly.
2. For my lovely sister. I had a wonderful time with her on Friday and Saturday- she has always been someone I look up to. She is always honest with me and she is generous and kind-hearted. I wish I saw her more.
3. For the ability to be able to cycle- I am so lucky that I have this now as I could not cycle 2 years ago. It fills me with sheer delight and rapture when I am out there on the country lanes with the breeze blowing through my hair.
4. For the holiday. It is lovely to have escaped from normal life.
5. For my good friends who are honest, true and loyal- especially M who will ALWAYS tell me what she thinks, honestly and constructively. It is lovely to have a friend so close. We've only known each other around 3 years but she has proved a fabulous friend.
6. For my Mum who imparts her creativity, inspiration and environmental conscience to me.
7. For my home- I never cease to think about how fortunate I am to live here.
8. For having a job to go to. I know many people who are worried about the employment prospects- my school is a good place to be- my Head is inspiring and caring, she wants the best for the children, the children are relatively good kids and the Staff are the best.
9. For joys on the horizon. I am off to the Black mountains near Hay on Wye in a short length of time to play a concert in an amazing ruined abbey- one of my favourite places in the world. My younger sister's special birthday celebrations next week, for the Chap Olympiad in July. I have so many things to look forward to.
10. For a friendship pool on a daily basis that I never thought I'd have- who'd have thought I'd have so many friends on the internet- you bloggers who make me smile, delight, and blush at your kindness. Thank you for continuing to read my ramblings, silly comments, random photos and admire the silly things I do and say here- it means more than I can say.
What are you thankful for?
Too many people wallow in self pity or are totally ungrateful. I think its lovely when people take time to appreciate what's under their noses! Well done.
