TARDIS Tuesday- Yaz Khan outfit from The Witch finders

Hello there,

I hope things are well with you. I write this at the end of my hardest day of the working week- Tuesdays are KEY STAGE ONE day, i.e. my entire day is spent teaching 5-7 year olds.  This year, as they have obviously missed two big chunks of learning in their Nursery, Reception and Year 1 years, there are a lot of children in there that are not exactly where they might usually be in an average year.  They are all not in proper classrooms- all of those children being either in the partitioned school hall or in the Dining room extension or my very cramped-when-it-has-tables-in-it music room as well as the obvious fact that I do not have my own domain and am on the weary trudge around the school.. And times are difficult etc. Thus me and my PPA partner, our Sports Coach this year, we find Tuesdays a bit of a hard deal. We both also have a club straight after school on a Tuesday. It wasn't the easiest day but it wasn't the worst either.  Still, I am not living in a war-zone and I have food, warmth and space so this isn't  moan, mainly a 'this is the day' description.

Onto a TARDIS Tuesday. I last had a TARDIS Tuesday appearance of this outfit in December 2020 and it features current companion, Yasmin Khan in a casual, cosy look.

She wears a blue Mint Velvet jumper with black trousers and a denim jacket. Her hair is worn in messy bunches.

I wore this outfit today for school (but with boots instead of trainers...should have kept the boots on- the real outfit has boots, not trainers- doh!) and it was a comfy, warm choice for a cold March day.
I am wearing an oversized version of the real jumper alongside my ubiquitous black trousers. I acquired a light denim jacket from my local charity shop a couple of months ago.  My bunched hair is a good deal shorter than it was last time I featured this outfit though my hair has grown since last May's haircut!

I ended up wearing a gold sequinned beret for the afternoon as well as starry earrings as I had lent my gold beret to a TA last week and she returned it to me at lunchtime, just as I was off to teach my year 2 class.  My class thought that the beret really suited the outfit! Ha, maybe I should have worn it for the photos!

Tomorrow is a better day- I have Year 5 for three lessons, Year 6 for 1, then choir plus singing assembly for 5-6 first thing- doing Skye Boat song as a little alternative folk-song- mind you, pretty gloomy lyrics! Thunder, lightning and Dead on Culloden's field and all that.  Maybe we should sing 'A mouse lived in a Windmill in Old Amsterdam again?!'

Much love,
xx

  3. Wow, are you allowed to wear denim? The last two academies in Dorset where I did supply would not allow staff to wear any denim garments. Rosie is off school with covid. I'm doing a daily Zoom teaching session with her. I wear my jeans for that. Love the star jumper

    1. We aren't allowed to wear Jeans but as far as I know, there's no mention of outerwear in the clothing policy and I've seen people wear denim jackets.

  5. Beautiful outfit dear!
I feel you on teaching in this pandemic, it's hard. I'm not doing teaching right now but sometimes I do get a call to fill in for a collegue and yes it is a hard at the best of times. Take care.

  6. I think we're all counting our blessings at the moment, aren't we? My PC conked out last night and before I kicked it and had a moan I reminded myself that I'm safe and in my own home and buying a new one isn't the end of the world.
Love the outfit, that baby blue is so pretty on you.

  7. I admire teachers and care givers who have to work in these trying times. It's good to put things in perspective like you did. I can't imagine how it must be for those in war torn Ukraine with lack off electricity food, water and warmth in some places and living minutes by minutes, not knowing if your love ones are safe or dead.

I hope that tomorrow will be less stressful.

    Hugs,
    Julia

  8. It sounds like your Tuesdays are quite full-on, especially given the non-classroom situation and the fact that the children have missed big chunks of learning. I think we're all counting our blessings right now, but we're still allowed a tiny moan now and then, surely.
Loving the star jumper which is very you! Had to think of you in T2 earlier today - the first time I went since you were in Antwerp - and spotted a dirndl which I think would have been perfect for you! xxx
