Secret January Blog Challenge

Hi there,

Hope you are well.
You may have noticed that I was rather prolific in my January posting...or perhaps not?
Well, I set myself a secret challenge to try and blog every day in January.  I didn't want to make it a big deal or mention it just in case time failed me or I ran out of time but I am pleased to say I managed it!  In 2018, I was disappointed that my blog outut was the least amount I've blogged since 2010 which is quite shocking!!!!
Just for the record in 2018 I posted 172 blogposts compared to

2017: 231, 2016: 285, 2015: 318, 2014:278, 2013: 204,  2012:260, 2011: 174, 2010:26

 I was trying not to stress about it too much last year and I just let it go if I hadn't managed to post for a while and I wanted to start off the year with a good effort to set the tone for the year.

But...without announcing it, I wouldn't feel a failure if I didn't manage it.  I decided to go with the premise that I HAD to publish the post for each day, even if it was a bit rubbish because it would get me going.  Some days, I was thinking, "AAAAAHGRH, what do I post!" but somehow, it flowed on quite a few days.

I've copied the links to the month's posts below in reverse order so you can have a look, should you wish to, if you missed anything.

So, looking at them, I am pleased that I did create some variety in these posts:

* 5 TARDIS Tuesday outfit posts.
* 5 miscellaneous outfit posts + 1 jewellery post
* 2 Food posts.
* 1 Book review post
* 2 costume idea posts.
* 1 Goals post.
* 1 photo an hour.
* 1 'favourites' post.
* 3 creative January challenge posts.
* 1 information post to do with instruments
* 1 self-indulgent 'woe is me' post.
* Holiday summary
* 1 happy moment post and 1 Thankful post
* 4 miscellaneous discussion posts.

...even if some of the posts were a little brief. It's been fun to focus on making sure I blog this month- especially as it's January and January is rubbish!

There were 7577 page views in January (as of Midnight on 1st February!)

What do I do with it?   had the most page views (and the longest comments!)

Fun goals and tasks for 2019 had the most comments.

Some less common instruments had the least number of comments

Word play- alternative words had the least amount of page views and yesterday's post, "5 brooches and friends #70 but given it's been up for less than a day, that's understandable so I am not counting that!!

My 11 favourite board and card games was my favourite post to write- I love games so much!

My least favourite post was TARDIS Tuesday- Grieving Clara- which was a bit rubbish.

Sooo.... qvvvvvestions to you, honoured guest:
1.  Did you notice I was blogging more regularly?
2. Did you wonder about it?
3.  Did you think it was a challenge?
4.  Did you notice much variety?
5.  Did you have any particular favourite post?
 and finally:
6.  Are there any blog posts you think I should write or things you'd like me to write about?  Can't guarantee I'll do them (if too personal) but I'm willing to give things a try!

Thanks for all of you who commented and shared this month- it was lovely to have you here!

xxx

  1. I did see all your posts, and I did read all, but sorry I only commented on the slimy stuff. What have you done with it?

  2. Hi Kezzie, I too saw all your posts and read most of them but didn't notice you were doing a challenge - in comparison to my meagre output you are a prolific blogger. Coping with January has been tough this year as I've had two weeks of it dosed with this coughing bug doing the rounds so while I've been reading I've not commented much. For me of course, the music ones are the most interesting :)

  3. Sneaky! I hadn't noticed that you blogged more, but that's more to do with my not checking in everyday. I always think of you as someone who blogs almost everyday.
    I really like your random posts, the ones about favourite board games, teas, puddings etc, but I enjoy everything you write.
    I'm off to catch up a bit, I have a few posts I've not yet read.
    Well done!
    xx

  4. 1. Yes
    2. I thought Kezzie is back to blogging as often as she used to - hurrah!
    3. No, I thought you were doing that thing of 'writing posts you had meant to write about and finally got round to doing it.
    4. Yes, I noticed the variety and content wise, see 3.
    5. I liked your commuting with long legs post and book review and things beginning with S. But I liked them all really.
    6. No requests as such but I enjoy how you write about what's on your mind or what happened. It's often spontaneous, authentic and makes your blog a nice mix of things. Like a lucky dip gift. You don't know what you're getting 'til you read the post.
    Now please just keep posting daily for the rest of the year! xx

  5. I had noticed more posts but didn't realized that you had posted everyday as I usually check all blog followers that comes in my Reader List on Blogger and I get lost into reading what people are doing.
    My favorite was What do I do with this. It was rather unexpected and different than the usual theme posts.

    Blogging everyday can get exhausting so I only blog occasionally. In the past, most of my blog followers blogged everyday but over time only two blog everyday. The rest only blog occasionally like me. On each post, I get lots and lots of view but only a tiny percentage comment still I get comments even though I neglect my blog.
    Enjoy your day.
    Hugs, Julia

  6. I noticed you posted quite regularly but didn't clock that you posted on a daily basis. What a feat, Kezzie, I've no idea how you find the time. I do love the variety of your posts, so I don't have any special requests. I think any post written from the heart is a good one! xxx PS I was also wondering what you did with the slime ;-)

  7. I don't know how you do it! I take photos and then at the end of the day am often too tired to blog and would much prefer to knit, crochet or read :-) I love how you manage to provide such a good variety of content xx

  9. Impressive! It's important for us to set goals otherwise we drift into malaise. Blogging in general is becoming less popular so fighting that trend is vital. I'll never stop and hope you won't either!

    I enjoy all your posts. A good blog tackles many subjects, including the blogger's life, so post about anything that interests you. The blog exists for YOU, not us.

  10. I did notice that you blog more regularly but I didn't think it was a challenge. I know that you are sometimes very regular with your blogging, and generally you don't take big brakes often so I wasn't surprised. It's great you always blog about such a wide variety of subjects.

  11. Well done Kezzie. I just don't know where the time goes these days...I haven't blogged on PHP since December and even that was basic. I can't seem to tackle my large shoe review posts any longer, likewise beauty reviews. I try to stick to my Shoesday posts on TSGD, but have stopped TSGSI since Polyvore shut down, so it's only once a week I'm posting and even then, I struggle. I'm also struggling to read blogs, so I'm afraid to say I didn't notice the extra blogs from you. I'm now doing this 365 day challenge with IC on Instagram, so now that means my Facebook has fallen by the wayside as I concentrate on that. I just find it really, really difficult to fit it all in and be consistent. I do think a little bit is time management on my part, I could do better, but I'm also sleeping a lot and my head just isn't it when I'm feeling really tired. Well done anyway on managing to post along with school and everything else, quite an accomplishment.

  12. Well done for blogging every day.

    I've tried it before (in November), but it's too much. Unlike you, this year I plan to blog less, 2 times a week on my lifestyle blog. But I do have 3 blogs, so it will be about 6 posts in total every week. :)

    I don't suggest because my suggestions might not be what you'd like to write about.

  13. I think I did notice a lot of posts, but didn't realise it was every day. I did read most of them I think but I didn't comment on many (nothing personal, I keep struggling to keep up with blog commenting!). I don't think I noticed the variety as you do write quite a variety of posts anyway so it seems like normal blogging, but a few more posts to me!
