I know you all enjoyed my charity shop finds last week so I thought I'd share another post with some things I found this week.
As usual, I had no intention of buying anything. CBC and I went to Maldon in Essex at the weekend for lunch at Truly Scrumptious (delicious as usual). CBC needed to buy himself some smart black shoes as he is an usher at a wedding at Lincoln cathedral and he went to search. I wasn't really wanting to get involved in this as he's slower than me when purchasing.
I went into a Hospice charity shop to have a look and saw this set of four beautiful vintage flower brooches. They are so beautiful and bright and at £2 each weren't too expensive. I've seen lots of these on vintage bloggers' posts which I have always admired so I was rather chuffed.
In the bargain box I also saw these two brooches which are rather pretty £1.
CBC called me and said he couldn't find any black shoes. I had only been in one shop. I went to meet him and then he got excited by a local green grocers so I took my chance to slope off again. Namely to the Salvation Army Charity shop.
In there, I remembered a tip from another blogger to go and look at men's shoes as I have large feet.
I ended up trying on these size 8.5 shoes from Jones the Bootmaker just as CBC came in search of me. He looked at them and asked me if I was going to buy them. He then tried them on himself and was delighted to buy these Jones the Bootmaker black shoes for the wedding. £3.49 rather than £40+!
He was rather glad I'd sloped off to the charity shop!
And I ended up with a pair of size 8 men's shoes myself. These brown shoes say they are Loakes which I know are a nice make - they had a good heel on them and a nice chestnut colour and again, for £3.49,I was rather pleased by them.
I think the success of the day has to be CBC getting those black shoes for the wedding. What a good thing I tried them on myself!
Have you found any exciting charity shop items recently?

Really lovely finds there. Those brooches are adorable and the shoes, both pairs, are fab finds, well done! I have small feet and sometimes stray into the children's shoe section :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky day for you a CBC. That leaves a lot of money in his wallet for other things. You must be his good luck charm.
ReplyDeleteThe broaches are lovely and reminds me of my grandmother's. As a little girl, I used to admire her glittery broaches.
Have a nice weekend.
Hugs,
JB

ReplyDeleteI love seeing your charity shop finds. I really must find more charity shops around where I live. There must be more. I miss London - I remember how there would be random pop up charity shops down in the basements on the walkways sometimes. It was awesome!

amazing charity shops finds....both pairs of these leather shoes look great!
ReplyDeleteThe brooches are absolutely beautiful...and they are such a bargain!
Definitely amazing finds...I especially love the brooches, so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI did go to our nearby hospice charity shop last Monday, and I stayed with my daughter and shopped to my heart's content for over an hour. I was looking for either shorts or capri pants, but they were in short supply :( I did finally find one pair of capris in denim -- in a petite size, but it doesn't matter much in a capri. However, I did find 3 shirts -- sigh! I always find shirts, and I don't really need more shirts. All the clothes in this shop cost the same: $4.00 US. I think that's about 2 and a half British pounds. It was a fun time. I love relaxed shopping when I need the therapy :)
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous finds, the brooches are so lovely! I haven't found much recently but I did pick up a very pretty bird print dress. Thankfully the warm weather will mean I get to wear it!
ReplyDeleteCBC must never mind you going into a charity shop again after you found those shoes for him!
ReplyDeleteAm loving the new brooches.
