May's List
Blue

On Tuesday, we went to a wonderful B&B called Cutthorne deep in the heart of the Exmoor National Park in North Somerset which I will tell you more about soon. They have their own beautiful grounds and we took a pre-dinner walk here. I love the vivid blue of the sky reflected in the water. You can see CBC in his red trousers on the horizon and my shadow to the right,
Crystal

I hit the jackpot with this one. After our night in Exmoor, we travelled onto Totnes. We went into a Crystal shop in Totnes and saw these amazing geodes. They cost about £1000 a piece. I asked if we could take a picture of them (we did buy something later too- present for someone!)
Here's a couple of as I couldn't decide which one to select. All amethyst except the orange one-not sure what that is!
Vintage

The B&B in Exmoor is a 14th century farmhouse and they have painstakingly created an old country estate feel to it with antiques at every turn- all our room furniture was too and I am cross I forgot to take a picture of our carved mahogony bedstead. Here you can see some very, very vintage stag horns (sorry) and other items.

Fluff

In the meadow above the house, I kept a look out for sheep fluff and found this scattering of something fluffy with the sunlight bouncing off it.

And of course this dandelion clock is very fluffy! Oh so fun as a child but now I just see them as potential pests to be dug out the lawn!
Global

I knew that I would have issues with this one. It's a bit of a cop-out but I figured that Globe would be close enough. Also the Globe signs and words cover most of the picture so I'd say the distribution is pretty global! This pub was in Buckfastleigh, near Totnes.
Mask

Our room at Cutthorne had the most wonderful view out onto a meadow with a tree with bird feeders. I sat lying in wait for a nuthatch bird for ages as I'd seen one before dinner and they have facial features like a black Zorro mask. This one was remarkably flighty and really would not stay still for a photo. You can't really see his Zorro mask very well but I am posting it anyway after all the time I spent lying in wait.

And in case you wont allow me that, he was a Phantom-style mask in the art-shop window in Totnes. I don't really like masks.
Bus
Rubbish pictures dot com but I saw this bus coming up the hill in Salcombe and just grabbed the camera as quick as I could.
Frame

Again, awful photo but isn't the frame lovely! This mirror reminds me of the one in Van Eyck's painting of the Alfioni marriage
Collection

We visited the South Devon railway which is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon travelling on the steam engines. We allighted at Staverton station which is made to look like platform from the past. I spied this collection of milk churns...

and a collection of red tin buckets at Staverton station.
Poster

Here are some old fashioned tin posters advertising products at Staverton station. I love these old advertising posters.
Ribbon
I gave up getting my crown and glory Glitterati boxes but one of my favourite items in the last box (which sadly was the best one) was this lovely flower and butterfly crown with trailing ribbons.
Whatever you want

Being daft with my husband. We decided to try and make a shadow heart in the meadow, apparently we had a bemused audience!
I do enjoy the Scavenger Hunt and I urge you to take part if you'd like a new blogging challenge and another way to get you to use your camera!

Nice! I love the heart shadow!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics especially the first one for Blue and the collection ones are great. Nice heart too. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic collection - you did really well! That B&B sounds right up my street, will look forward to hearing more! I love the last photo, for the fun of it! Sometimes Dave makes shadow dinosaurs etc when we're out in the sunshine and sometimes I make one too!
ReplyDeleteAhh, the heart!
ReplyDeleteLove the crystal photos, and the dandelion clock. xxx
What lovely interpretations - the crystals are fabulous. This is the second time I've seen the phrase "dandelion Clock" - wish I knew the origins of this. We call them Dandelion Wishes.
ReplyDeleteyou did a great job on this hunt of yours...my fav is the last photo, the one of you and your husband forming a heart together...so lovely!
ReplyDeleteso many great photos...that frame mirror is lovely, reminds me of the one I have at home.
and I must say those crystals are gorgeous!!!!
Brilliant photos, and I love your take on the subjects too. Geodes are fab, there used to be a jewellers in Scarborough that had all the expensive jewellery draped over the biggest geodes I've ever seen, needless to say my face was often pressed up against their window looking into those twinkling little caves of bling!
ReplyDeleteHello. This is such an amazing group of photos you have put together. I love the first one for blue; I don't think I've ever seen such beautiful scenery. Wishing you a wonderful week :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. I didn't get around to participating this month as I was ill for most of it but I have June's list to work on now.

Ohh how I love amethyst. <3
ReplyDeleteAwesome hunt!!
The heart shadow!!! YAAASSS! J'adore! I thought I'd choose either "blue" or "frame" as my faves, but then I scrolled down to the heart shadow and squeed like a fangirl. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking part in this months scavenger hunt. You have some really great photos in your collection. I really like fluff, collection, vintage and poster. Greenthumb.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun, Kezzie! And I'm not just talking the Scavenger Hunt. I caught up on all your posts for BEDM. The first photo of Exmoor National Park is gorgeous, so very much like I think of the English countryside. I loved your creativity in using the nuthatch for mask and the heart at the end!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things I could comment on in your recent posts/ You make me smile because your love of life bubbles over. I enjoy seeing all your whimsical fashions.
You have left me longing to have a Creambath in Indonesia, which I hope to visit. My niece is teaching in Surabaya; she's my brother's only daughter and she and her three brothers went to school in Jakarta (as did one of my nephews on Terry's side of the family). I lived your bluebells and would visit then every year too, they are gorgeous as is your darling niece. That cloud: a pterodactyl! I'm a retired teacher, so I really connected with your pice on teaching. Congrats to you for blogging throughout May. You really did an awesome job, Kezzie! Just wonderful. You deserve a massage! Hugs!
Sweet shots! Top marks on the plan for bird stalking anyway :) Zorro was always a favorite growing up.
ReplyDeleteI like the heart in the last picture :) Is sweet :) All the pictures are lovely xx
ReplyDeleteThe mask is inspired with the bird, well done on that one.
ReplyDeleteThe photos at the train station are just lovely and your heart shadow is wonderful

Love your take on the photos for the month, as ever. And the heart is my favourite, I think. I sort of like masks; I am planning to organise a masked ball for guides fundraising.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos but I'm most envious that you found it straightforward! Have you spotted that Greenthumb has changed one of the categories? It was poster (which we did this time) but is now post. x
ReplyDeleteHELLO!!! Those crystals look gorgeous, the B&B looks amazing (no idea what's so appealing about it :p) and I love that you and CBC made a shadow heart. ADORABLE :) xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that heart. I want to go to the location of that first photo. The crystals so beautiful. Glad you found it easy. I had a hard time, but next month looks even harder.
