In search of the ultimate Veggie sausage

Since CBC turned Veggie/Pescetarian, we've eaten a fair few veggie alternatives.  I bemoaned the veggie sausage situation, wishing there was a nicer sausage than Linda McCartney sausages. Vix advocated Sosmix, which I admit, I still haven't tried.

A while back, I saw some interesting looking sausages in Waitrose:

I admit I was intrigued.  I was still seeking a better veggie sausage.

Cooking them, they actually looked like real sausages. Chunky and packed full of filling

They aren't ultimately meaty, they're not trying to be overly meaty-flavoured, they taste of what is in  them, but the flavour is great! I love the french-bean and Wensleydale and the flavour is pleasing but not overpowering.  The herbs are just applied in the right amount and they cooked very well.
We had two each on both occasions as they come in a pack of four.
The first time, I bought them, I think they cost about £2.20 a pack which is not bad but the second time I bought them was in the COOP for 2 for £3.

You can see what we paired them with:

Here: fried courgettes,Spring greens, tomatoes and peppers and sliced avocado

The other time, we paired them with French beans (with sesame seed oil), asparagus and lemony courgettes.

If you wanted to give some veggie sausages a go, I recommend these, you can go to the link:

to look at what they sell aside from these sausages- I fancy trying the tomato and mozzarella ones next!

Over to you: what veggie alternatives do you like, most notably in the sausage family?!
I'd love to know!

xx

  2. I keep eyeing these in Waitrose, I'm not veggie but I don't like meat sausages. At the moment I really like quorn ones, or even Tesco everyday value ones (but I do like bland food sometimes!)

  3. Bean & spinach sausages - sounds nice, but I'd be concerned about the erm...after effects!!!

  4. I didn't try them, but I will. I love quorn sausages and the Asda vegetarian range. I don't eat them very often even though I am vegetarian (and hubby is almost vegetarian) because I usually cook recipes that wouldn't have meat in them anyway.

  5. The only vege ones we buy are the frozen vege hot dog/frankfurter type ones. Great for slicing up and mixing into a bowl of pasta. This is my fail safe meal for the children, the one I go to for first day back at school when heads are tired and tea time needs to be quick and fuss free!

  6. You eat very healthy and it all looks yummy. I like apple pork sausages but very seldom eat some and when I do, it would be at breakfast. I love my meat.

Have a great end of June.
    Hugs.

  7. I have only in the past year or so started eating meat again after 15 years of being vegetarian. In that time I did tend to eat some Quorn sausages but never really found anything amazing. That said I don't think I ever liked regular sausages that much in the first place. These look pretty good and I'd probably give them a try at some point. I still don't eat proper sausages that often.

  8. They sound fab! I'm a fan of Asda's vegetarian Lincolnshire-style sausage mix, which added with water is perfect for camping. xxx

  9. These sound nice. My family is relentlessly carnivorous, so sadly I imagine they wouldn't go down well, and I can't help you with veggie alternatives at all, sorry! (I'd like them though!) xxx

  10. I love the Linda McCartney ones, I'm a big fan of veggie food and meat alternatives, but I've never tried these, they look really good though! Will have to give these a try. - Tasha

  11. I've seen this but never got them because of the cheese, I can't eat much dairy as it upsets my poor tummy. I liked the look though x

  16. I really like the Linda Mcartney ones (possibly because they're the only readily available vegan friendly, soya-free option!)
