TARDIS Tuesday- Osgood from The Zygon Inversion

Greetings!

I hope that all is well with you!

I was ruminating over whether it was easier to do TARDIS Tuesday in the Winter or Summer and I have concluded, it's easier to do it in the Winter. Summer often gets difficult as a lot of cosplays have layers.

It's fun coming up with new cosplays but I like, just as much, returning to an old favourite. It doesn't matter if it has changed completely or if there is a variation in it.

Today, I thought I'd wear a Winter-appropriate cosplay that I haven't shared since January 2020- that's 3 years ago! It features a 11th and 12th Doctor recurring character called Petronella Osgood.  She works for UNIT and is a big fan of the Doctor- all of them!  She wears outfits inspired by the Doctors. One might say she does cosplays of them!

This outfit is inspired by the 5th and 6th Doctor and is worn by Osgood in The Zygon Inversion.

It features a beige/caramel jumper with brown elbow patches and edging, a white shirt embroidered with ? on the lapels, navy corduroy trousers and dark walking shoes

And here's what I wore this time:

I started with the question mark shirt.  The lovely Ang embroidered this for me a very long time ago now and I've owned this shirt since I was a teenager. You can see Ang's handywork below more clearly.

My jumper is from J Crew and I purchased it secondhand mistaking it for Clara's grey merino wool jumper. It's obviously not grey! It is, however, soft and warm.

I have corduroy trousers but I decided to wear these brown trousers instead. No reason other than I prefer the whole chocolatey look rather than the navy with it.
My walking shoes were covered in mud so I decided to just wear some black boots instead. Mainly because they are more suitable for school.

The final touch is these Primark glasses. They're just a fashion accessory rather than functional but I rather like them!

I wore this at the weekend to take daylight photos but the outfit is laid out for Tuesday school.  I'll let you know how it fares for school!

Favourite TARDIS Tuesday outfits of the year.

Hello there!

Happy New Year!

I hope you are well.  We've had a lovely couple of days with walks and I have some more Fungi-action coming your way soon!

Today, I thought I'd share my favourite TARDIS Tuesday looks from the year (in the absence of enthusiasm to write something more complicated!

I've picked one from each month.  The original posts are linked to in the month title.

January:

This was a Yaz Khan outfit and I was very happy to have identified this outfit myself.  The jumpsuit is a really lovely pattern and it's a really easy outfit to wear that you can look smart in.

I loved dressing up as the 2nd Doctor with CBC's DJ and some other bits and pieces I had scattered around.

I chose this Osgood post because it's a fun outfit.

I chose another of Osgood's outfits I did as a closet cosplay as I was really pleased with it! Bow ties are cool!

I chose this smart look (which I wore for a friend's Zoom birthday party as worn by Yaz Khan in Spyfall- it's quite a smart outfit that I would wear next time I have to wear Black and White for a concert. Plus, it has sparkles!

June's outfit doubled up with Style Imitating Art. It was a variation on a Clara Oswald outfit and I felt cool in it!

July's outfit featured my favourite TARDIS dress and was worn on a particularly fun and sunny day.

I had to choose my Seeds of Doom outfit for August. Because I wore a pile of garden waste!

September, I chose Clara's Ultimate Guide outfit because it's cool and looks like an oil slick!

October, I chose Yaz Khan's outfit from Can you Hear Me? I was proud of my maxi-dress disguised as a top!

November, I chose my Clara Oswald Nightmare in Silver outfit as I was super chuffed to have found her screen-accurate All Saints jacket for £11 secondhand. I never would have bought this jacket for its full price (£300+) or even what most people usually pay second hand for it but I was delighted with my bargain and it completed this outfit beautifully- I like all the matching in this.

Finally, for December, I chose Yaz's other outfit from Spyfall because the top is sunny and fun! (and it was the best one out of the month).

Out of my favouries which one is your favourite?

TARDIS Tuesday outfit- Petronella Osgood in Death In Heaven

In my recent 'Future TARDIS Tuesday' post, I alluded to this outfit worn by Petronella Osgood, in an episode called Death in Heaven.  Osgood works for UNIT as a scientific adviser and her clothes are very much nods to the Doctor's outfits as she is his super fan!

Let's look at the outfit she wears...

I've put together this collage of stills I made from the episode showing her outfit as best as possible.
As you can see, it consists of:
  • Claret bow tie.
  • Navy, long practical-looking coat.
  • Navy trousers
  • Beige and peachy floral shirt
  • Converse trainers
  • Hair in plait
  • Black-framed glasses.
  • Brown buckled belt

I thought it would be fun to do some side-by-side photos of this outfit!

Let's talk through my outfit:
I started with the floral blouse. Actually, this item is a Clara Oswald shirt which she wore in clips from the BBC Doctor Who prom- it was one of my first Clara purchases and came from a charity shop in town. It seemed very similar in print to Osgood's!
My vintage bowtie came from the Vintage Emporium in Hexham a few years ago.
My navy Barbour jacket is in fact a Clara jacket, again! Also second-hand (I COULD NOT find the hood! Where is it?!!)
My glasses are from Primark.
My Converse trainers were £2.50 from my local charity shop and yes, you guessed it, they are a Clara item also!
Finally, my trousers are from Just Female (but bought second-hand) and are.... a Clara item!

So this was all put together from items I already had, which is the best kind of cosplay I think! As usual, everything is second-hand (except the glasses!)

Later in the episode, Osgood is in her laboratory and changes into her white lab coat so I threw on one of CBC's workshirts to emulate that!

Obviously, since I was working at home, I didn't wear jacket or labcoat all day, so this is what I wore (and am still wearing) for the rest of the day with rainbow slippers instead of shoes which were only worn to go and fill up watering cans from the Waterbutt outside in the rain to maximise the amount of rain water I could collect! Wish I had a second butt!

TARDIS Tuesday- Petronella Osgood/Zygella in the Zygon Inversion end and the 7th Doctor

Hello there!

I hope you are well!

Welcome to another episode of TARDIS Tuesday!!! After enjoying dressing up as Doctor-fan Petronella Osgood a few weeks ago, I thought it would be fun to dress up as her again!
The good thing about Osgood is that you get  Two for one outfit because her outfits are invariably based on one of the Doctor's outfits!

The outfit in question this time is the final outfit that Osgood wears in The Zygon Inversion.  Last time, I featured the outfit she wears throughout the episode.
At the end, we discover that Osgood has a new identical twin sister.  Zygella, the renegade Zygon, who causes all the trouble, needs a new identity.  So she becomes Osgood's twin.  But which one is which?  We don't know!

She wears a tan Montgomery duffle-coat along with the Seventh Doctor's trademark Question Mark tanktop.  Underneath it, she wears a ditsy floral shirt, a red paisley tie and a red paisley scarf.  On her bottom half, it is hard to see what she is wearing but the source picture below suggests she wears her blue corduroy trousers and walking shoes.  Her hair is worn tied back with her black-framed glasses.

And, I do not lie, as you can see below- Sylvester McCoy's Seventh Doctor wore an outfit very similar!

And here's me.

You will have seen this tank top back in 2016 as I wore it for a Seventh Doctor outfit. I bought it at the Doctor Who Exhibition when we visited as it was on Special offer.
With it, I teamed a white shirt and wore one of CBC's paisley ties.
My green corduroy Laura Ashley trousers feature for Osgood again as they are the right shape.  On top, I am wearing a very similar tan Duffle coat.  and my trusty specs!

I wore this outfit for school without the tie as I couldn't seem to get it tied properly!  The children like the question marks!

It's a fun yet cosy outfit for a Winter's day.

TARDIS Tuesday- Petronella Osgood from The Zygon Inversion

Good Evening!
I hope you are well.  Today, for TARDIS Tuesday, I am sharing a character I've not cosplayed for TARDIS Tuesday before. Her name is Petronella Osgoood.  She appeared during the 11th and 12th Doctor's tenures and she worked for UNIT (United Nations Intelligence Taskforce), the group who investigated strange and extra-terrestial activity.  She was first introduced in the 50th anniversary episode, The Day of the Doctor and then returned in 3 more episodes, Death in Heaven, the Zygon Invasion and the Zygon Inversion.  In her first appearance, she represented the fans of Doctor Who as Osgood is a huge fan of all the doctors and her outfits are nods to the clothes worn by the Doctors, all of them.  She's donned the big stripy scarf, bowties, the question mark tanktop and the question mark lapels.

Today, I'm focusing on her outfit from The Zygon Inversion. She wears a beigey brown wool jumper with darker brown features, navy corduroy trousers, walking shoes and a white shirt with red question marks on the lapels.

I'm not quite sure why it has taken me so long to cosplay Osgood as I have had various parts of her costume by luck and chance so I should have given it a go.

And here I am.

I began with my Question mark shirt which the wonderful Ang Almond embroidered for me a good few years ago. I've had the shirt she embroidered since I was a teenager so it is more than 20 years old.  What prompted me to try this cosplay was the beige Merino wool jumper. I bought it a little while back, secondhand cheaply for a Clara cosplay but I got the colour wrong- I thought it was a grey jumper. It's a great quality jumper anyway so I knew I could make use of it.  In my memory, I knew that Osgood wore some grey corduroy trousers in one episode and I have charity-shopped Laura Ashley green Corduroy trousers. Alas, this episode features blue ones but never mind!

I WOULD have worn my walking shoes if they weren't still completely caked in mud from Saturday (see previous post entitled 'MUD- a poem!' for more information on that.

To finish off, I added this pair of tortoise-shell glasses I have. They just have plain glass in them but I bought them in Primark around 5 years ago as I love this type of glasses and always wanted a pair!

What do you think?
