Revenge wears Prada

Revenge Wears Prada: the Devil Returns
Revenge wears Prada by Lauren Weisenberger I’m sure most of us have seen the movie of The Devil wears Prada. I loved this movie, mostly because it had Anne Hathaway in it and read the book soon after seeing the movie. This is the sequel to said book. In it, Andy Sachs, ex-assistant to Miranda Priestley, the ice-queen Editor-in-Chief of Runway magazine, has moved on after her quitting of the job that ‘a million girls would kill for’ 10 years ago in spectacular fashion (swearing at her boss in the Paris and quitting). She’s just about to get married to Max, an investor who she first met when she and Emily (ex-arch-nemesis at Runway) were seeking investors for their new high end magazine, The Plunge. It all doesn’t begin well when Andy finds a note in Max’s bag from her soon-to-be mother in law who begs Max not to marry Andy and to reconcile with his ex-girlfriend. Throughout the book, Andy’s still-continuing and unresolved terror of Miranda pervades, and you wonder exactly how Miranda will get her revenge on both Andy and Emily, who well- didn’t really do anything to deserve revenge except start a high-end magazine using Miranda’s name as currency! It gives a thrill of anticipation at what will happen. You also wonder just how Andy and Max’s marriage will hold out and the stakes are upped when Andy discovers she’s pregnant. I enjoyed the character development and again, really cared about Andy, who manages to keep her scruples. Max is an interesting character and seems genuinely caring about Andy. Emily is still a hard character to like, though you understand a little more, why she was so awful to Andy in the prequel to this book and her motivations. There are surprises in this book and I enjoyed reading it lots. As sequels go, it’s not bad!

Driving me crazy!

20130914_134723

I know, I know, you probably want to kill me for keeping you in suspense about wedding and honeymoon stuff, but really I can't really do much until we get the internet (Thursday, hopefully...). As it is, I am sneaking a quick moment at CBC's old flatmate's house as he kindly agreed to let me burgle and use his internet!

Yesterday, CBC's school had a special school fair which as the reluctant sulk dutiful wife, I went along to.  It was a really nice day that had obviously taken a lot of planning and preparation and was well thought out.  Lots of the students had taken initiative too and were holding stalls selling things in order to help fund world challenge and other such things.

I was quietly enjoying a burger whilst listening to a choir when CBC dragged me down the hill where a driving school was giving taster lessons on the school field for the over-15's.  This is who it was aimed at.  However, as you may or may not know, I have never in my life, been behind the wheel or a car, and CBC decided this was my moment.

I was rather terrified!  I am clumsiness personified!  However, the driving instructor was very kind and encouraging!    I managed three circuits of the field and managed to change gear once!  However, the thought of having to look in the mirror and all around me as WELL as all that, is a rather daunting thought!  So, maybe I wont be signing up for lessons just yet!

The rest of the day passed well, watching talented music pupils and then a trip to Waitrose and a Thai meal!

Hope yours was equally lovely!

10 things to be thankful for...13/9/2013

Hello!! I've so much to say but so little internet time to say it (and er- smartphone typing is sooo tiresome!! However am thankful for that!! Lots to be thankful for. 1. Ok, so it might be tiresome, but the smartphone is a lifeaavwr whilst being sans internet. It means I can quickly blog as I nipped home this evening!!! And messaging is Sooo much quicker!! 2. Wonderful, kind friends. My work colleague, M has driven me twice to my old home to fill her car with tons of items and driven me to my new home after work. She's a very busy, year6, maths coordinator, senior management member with tons to do. She is singularly the kindest person I know. She really lives out the commandment, "Love your neighbour as yourself" and she does it with brilliant wit and humour and a quiet compassion and humility that is astounding. 3. When moving furniture with above colleague, a large, heavy, wooden shelf was accidently dropped from a height onto my bog toe. It might be blue, painful and making walking a little slower but I am so grateful that it didn't break my toe as it could have done and did happen to my Mum recently!!!! 4. Timing. CBC is out tonight at an event at his school and so I came over to see my dear church friend. It's her birthday tomorrow coincidently and I was able to give her her present, buy her a cake and spend time there. She was so chuffed and cheered by my visit it made me really happy. 5. Tudor dance. I love it!!!! 6. Getting lots done after school!! 7. Owl hats. Especially ones that aren't tea cosies! 8. Having left my wellies accidently here and not being able to swap soggy TOMS for them!!! 9. Making my train this morning despite the limp slowing me down! 10. My husband. Still feels weird saying that but it's so wonderful returning home knowing he'll be there and sharing each and every evening. What are you thankful for???

Greetings!

IMG_3975 I don't think I have had such a long blog break in a long while! Unfortunately, I haven't got the internet in my new house yet, so I have not been able to post at all! We're at CBC's old house watching New Girl so I am quickly blogging! I'm enjoying my new home so far, it's so nice to live with CBC and look forward to seeing him every evening, though I am finding the travelling exhausting thus far! We're living surrounded by boxes which is the way it must be until we transfer all my furniture!!! Interesting trying to sneak all my clothes past CBC who keeps making comments about things going to charity shops! I have an enormous CULL pile but still have so much stuff!!!! Don't worry, devious ways of hiding things will be initiated as soon as possible!! Nice to be back at school, though I do feel I could have done with a week at home without school to get set up! We got the official photos back today. There are a few really nice ones luckily!!! Hope are all well! xx
