Vintage daisies

It's time for an outfit again!
I decided that it was time to dress funky!

I received this dress as a birthday present from my Mother-in-Law.  It's a vintage handmade dress which came from the Vintage Emporium in Hexham.  I always like to support the independent shops in Hexham and the Vintage Emporium is now a wonderful floor full of beautiful vintage clothes!
I'd bought one dress in there but really liked this one also and when CBC and his Mum were talking about my imminent birthday, I mentioned that there was a rather lovely daisy dress I'd liked.  His mum immediately said we should go there as she'd like to buy me something I wanted! I was happy to oblige!

On Tuesday, when I wore this, I decided to team it with a coral Esprit cardigan I bought an the airport in Croatia a few years ago and added my Irregular Choice star slingbacks bought from Char.
Finally, I added my Lorelai LQ peach earrings as the final touch plus a lovely necklace from Melanie Folly Bird!

Things that made me happy today:
1.  Lots of love for something I made yesterday and posted on IG. I'll post it here tomorrow.
2.  Rob Mills, who plays Finn Kelly in Neighbours, liked my comment on Instagram!
3. I finally planted my tomato seeds - in loo roll tubes
4.  Planted the Bluebell plants we bought two weeks ago.  It felt really good to get out in the garden in the early evening and do some planting and removing of weeds. It feels so good to get into the garden!
5.  Chatted to my wonderful friend Lara on the phone.
6. Planted some of the pea plants into a pot.
7. We ordered takeaway from our favourite Madeiran restaurant in town. Nice to support them in their difficult time of only being able to do Takeaway. It was really nice not to cook for the first time in 2 weeks and they gave us a carton of free juice
8.  I made delicious Jumbo chive omelettes for lunch- yum!
9. Watching Sunset Beach on Youtube.  I absolutely loved this programme in the late 90's! I love the person who has painstakingly uploaded all of Season Two in 4 parts per episode!
10.  A couple of really sweet comments on my school music blog today.
11.  Lovely email from Ang this morning! Must reply asap!

What's made you happy today?

Jumping on the 70's bandwagon

60's caravan holiday 1
Hello! All of a sudden, I am seeing references to the 70's being BIG this season apparently! I missed the official memo (don't really follow) but I've several cool bloggers to thank for me now knowing! Hurrah!
I love the 70's since there were so many influences- there was something for everyone, I love all my Mum's 70's dresses she wore. Sadly, she no longer owns any of my favourites- alas! I won't be buying any 2015 does 70's, why buy new when you can get the real thing (or you could if you hadn't given up shopping for Lent and hopefully beyond)
60's caravan holiday 2
I was delighted to haul this item (sincerely hoping it really IS 70's....)  out of my wardrobe on Sunday for church- I found it at a vintage fair in London some time ago. It is comfortable but I have accidentally made a rip at the seams down one side but have been too lazy incompetent forgetful to do anything about it thus the addition of the knitted waistcoat- luckily this made me tie in loosely with the Two Birds Inspiration for this week as best as my wardrobe could muster. Believe it or not, it didn't seem a hat day yesterday...

60's caravan holiday 3

Oh the sun was glorious but the poses were dumb!

60's caravan holiday 4
I WAS going to mow the lawn yesterday. Except that we still don't have one and I am too embarrassed to ask the neighbours.  Wish I'd bought one when gardencentres and B&Q hike the prices in anticipation!

60's caravan holiday 5

Happy shoes for a happy day! I've had these shoes since before Christmas. I had seen them in Modcloth- they must have been in someone's 'rainbow wishlist' or 'rainbow fashion' post, who knows but I fell for them! They have a RAINBOW on them. BUT, there was no way I was risking US import taxes (or a large cost). Amazingly luckily, they turned up reduced on the ASOS site and I had the amount left on a voucher from WOMOTM from last year's birthday. Clearly was meant to be.

One of the first times I was GOING to wear them, I put them in a bag in CBC's car to meet him at his school because I was helping out by playing viola for his school concert.  When I got there and went to get changed, I could only find one shoe. I was utterly perplexed as to where the other one was. I searched all through his music department and his car. No shoe.  In a weird Cinderella way, I was one shoe down and the only shoes I had with me were my turquoise clompy Doc Martens which I clearly couldn't wear on stage. No one who had any spare black shoes was even close to my enormous size 8's. In the end, I had to go onto stage in my 'stockinged feet' (you know tights, but how else do I phrase it?) and hope the fact they were dark didn't draw attention to my feet.  The next day, it transpired that it had dropped out the bag as he brought it in and sat in the rain all night outside the office where it was found by a secretary. Sigh.  Luckily it hadn't shrunk and at least I got it back.

That isn't the most daft shoe/concert/story/incident I can relate though.  Once,I was playing a concert at St John's Smith Square in London. It is a huge concert hall with a high up stage so essentially the audience can see your feet quite prominently.  Well, the leader forgot his black shoes and only had white trainers with him. So...what did he do?  Any ideas?

Well, what actually happened was, the co-leader, the man who sat next to him lent him ONE on his shoes and they both sat on stage wearing one shoe each.   Now we all surely know that the leader has to walk onto and off of stage to applause by himself. Yep, he did that in one shoe!!!!!! What would you have done if that had been you?? Surely ANYTHING but that!

Do you have any funny shoe stories?  Or any 70's clothing? Or rainbow shoes? Or any random anecdote you want to share? I'm all ears!x

P.S. Actually think my neighbour might hate us.But had a hilarious laugh with CBC tonight trying to play my Grandad's violin so CBC could practice accompanying me for a GCSE recital on Grade 6 pieces- I scraped and slid my way through pieces. And then, as CBC hijacked the violin, I tried my Lidl bagpipes after Steph/ven told me how to put the reed in the chanter- I could manage a rather party-popperesque squeak but there will be no Highland fling here!

Lemonade and daisy chain dreams

Lemon yellow lomo 1
You know all this blog talk about Autumn? I'm sorry, I don't quite get it. Perhaps it was because I was away  (in the sun) and then spent most of the last week mouldering over a computer (school prep) but things have felt the same to me, I'm curiously immune to it! Sunday was gorgeously warm and sunny and I wore this ensemble to church. It was a sad day as it was the vicar's last service before moving to a new parish. He was SUCH a lovely man and I am so sorry to have missed the last 2 months of his services (I've been away that much!) but there is always the promise and hope of the new incumbent- the Lord provides!!  There's a time for everything in heaven and on earth, so there must be a time for change!

Lemon yellow 5
I was absolutely determined that the day would be sunny on Sunday and it was indeed, so the outfit I picked out was just fine. I actually find this lemon-yellow broderie-anglaise Topshop dress (Charity-shopped of course), quite hard to wear- I last wore it with a panama and heart-shaped sunnies in the yellow-peril post but I wanted to wear it in a different way that didn't quite it look quite so 'little girl'.
Lemon yellow lomo 3
Thus, I teamed it with a Primark Daisy-print blouse tied-up, added these Clarks suede kitten-heel shoes (clothing-swap party) and then added more accessories- old Daisychain crown from Poppydaisy, daisy-earrings (?) and daisy bracelet (Tu). Finally, added my lemon necklace to play on the whole thing
Daisies in the grass
To be honest, I'm not so sure I managed to stop it looking 'Little girl' but at least I achieved a different look with it.

I'm determined to get some mileage out of my beloved summer dresses so that Autumn-blogger bandwagon is passing by this house, untouched for now!!! Call back later Pal!

As you read this, I'll be back at school. I'm trying not to be blue about it, but it's just been a wonderful holiday and I am, I admit, anxious about this new school year, there just seems SO much change and despite doing lots this week, I still feel vastly unprepared! A new headteacher (a maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!), lots of new teachers joining (5-6), lots having left, a new timetable (no Reception and instead- a whole day's worth (spread over the week) of random non-music lessons in year 1 and 2), trying to find the time to train the Reception and nursery staff in music and juggle sharing instruments, a WW1 concert to organise, trying to gather evidence and finally apply for Threshold (upper-pay scale), the possibility I might still be chucked out of my lovely new classroom back to my deafening rabbit hutch, having to sort out all my 6 clubs again, process letters and applications for these (a laborious process), adapt to a new national curriculum or at least silly key-skills that we follow, having to train an orchestra with mostly new beginners, the possibility of my role at school changing to a scarier one.  I will of course, adapt, survive and find the enjoyment and joy in it, but whilst it hasn't happened, I just long for the halcyon days of last year! God be with me! And you too!

Big thanks to WOMOTM for my new tripod since the old one vanished inexplicably!

Daisy daisy!

I often see bloggers sharing wishlists of things they'd like on blogs. I've done maybe one or two in my almost eight years of blogging but in this case, I daren't buy anything, I have far too much, but it's nice to admire pretty things I love daisies!!! For some reason, I have always loved them, so cheerful! I don't really buy much from New Look but the last time I bought anything, on line from there was a daisy shirt from their 9-15 range and a daisy-top!  So I had a look and I spotted lots of gorgeous daisy beauties!  Would you like any of these?

I find the Melissa and Vivienne Westwood Anglomania shoes all a bit bizarre just because they are glam but in beach shoe material but I imagine they are very practical because they'd just dry off in the rain! I love seeing bloggers wearing them but they usually have big heels that I wouldn't be able to walk in!  I think these daisy pumps would be really pretty for when I go camping and want something waterproof to slip on.

These definitely are the epitomy of funky daisy!  Sadly, I find Rocket dog shoes in size 8, a little too small for me (they use size 41 I believe) so it'd be no good me buying them- shame as I love everything about them

I used to have a bikini similar to this as a teenager that I bought from River-island, it was so funky, I wonder what happened to it! I love the retro look

The matching bottoms are really nice because they are aren't too high cut which I don't like! The skirt is a lovely femine touch!

This is far too short for me but I love the ballet-tutu feel to this!!!

I need to check the dimensions on this because I really like it, if it were the size that A4 or bigger could fit in!

Hey Baby, welcome to the 60's!

60's gal

Clearly, I was channeling my Mum in my choice of outfit this morning!  When I pick up anything by Orla Keily, I always think of the 60's with the psychedelic flower patterns!!!  I'd really recommend the Uniglo heat-tech range, they really do keep you warm- I was just wearing this top outside and I wasn't at all cold!
I decided to go with my Mum's 60's bunches and a baker-boy hat with added daisy!
Baker boy hat

You may even tell that I am wearing turquoise-blue eye-liner to celebrate the 60's, and I wasn't even going anywhere!! One of my favourite (and only) make-up looks of my twenties was the wearing of turquoise eye-liner and turquoise mascara.

I intended to spend the day doing school-work but instead spent the day on Operation Mouse and found the turquoise eye-liner during the process!  I am not supposed to be moaning during Lent but am fast getting really annoyed with the mice! How dare they visit uninvited to my house??? Why are my neighbours not doing anything about them!?  I have purchased all manner of mouse deterrants and ways of ridding but they are still visiting!  I discovered from my neighbours that they have them too (and I should be able to tell that from the scamperings I can hear under floorboards from one end of my house to the other!) but they haven't done anything about them, or at least they hadn't at first!!!

I am so excited tomorrow I get to see my best friend from primary and secondary school who I haven't seen for at least 6 years!  She lives in Denmark now but we're meeting up tomorrow to go to Vivien of Holloway!  She's also getting married!

Hope you are all well.
Lots of love,
Kezzie xx

Daisy, daisy, give me your answer do!

I discovered a wonderful new blog thanks to Sophie when she posted an incredible floral overload post!  I am an absolute magnet for anything floral so after her hint I headed over to Intrinsically Florrie's blog to find out what it was all about! She is having an annual competition called Florrie's Floral Festivities!   Her blog is approaching its third birthday and to celebrate she was launching this fun challenge of sending her a link of yourself in your floral finest to be collected together in one major flower power blog post.  (paraphrased Florrie's own description)  There are two prizes for the outfit she likes best and one for the most floral items in one outfit.  I just loved the idea of this challenge!

I had intended to wear a 1950's style outfit with a gorgeous thrifted Laura Ashley modern floral dress that I really wanted to wear for The Chap Olympiad but unfortunately, it being white, rain and it wouldn't mix However, I figured, a) it was raining again and I was wearing quite a floral outfit today which sums me up really so I would try to use this one (and add a few more accessories!) My aim was to go floral but try to make it all match if I could! Not sure if this was achieved or not! My favourite flower is the simple Ox-eye daisy, a native British wildflower so I though I'd make this the focus of my outfit. and try and do ubiquitous Kezzie items.

The dress (worn as a top) is one from Matalan I have had for a while which incorporates another love- Peterpan collars!
The skirt is from Monsoon which has a lovely embroidered floral pattern and is a typical Kezzie-style skirt (last featured in my SJP turquoise week!)
No Kezzie outfit is complete without a hat!  I wore this miniature Asos boater (which already has black lace flowers on it) and crowned it with a Poppydaisy daisychain circlet.
The boater hat somehow suggested to me that I should add these white vintage gloves (Corbridge antiques) to make it more ladylike!
You may have noticed in all my shots, I always have a hairband round my wrist, because I always need to tie my hair back at school, it's a subconscious thing but if I get nervous, I bite the end of my hair (disgusting I know, when I realise I'm doing it, I recoil with horror and fling it behind me and tie up hurriedly!) so I tie it back to stop me doing it!  I wore this gorgeous crocheted daisyhair band made by my Mummy!  Miraculously, despite having a lesson observation today (I got OUTSTANDING across the board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), I didn't tie my hair back!
On my other wrist, I wore another daisy hairband.  Embarassingly, my sister bought me this hairband because I admired the one worn by my 2 year old niece! I am useless at putting this one in my hair!

With this, I wore my Pandora bracelet with the set of daisybeads (not real Pandora!).
 Daisy earrings!
This yellow belt is as far as I go with yellow, but I cheered it up recently by adding this fabric daisy I saved from death (bin!) by removing it from the broken hairclip and gluing it to a hairgrip!
This Topshop bag (forgotten in first outfit 2 shots! It's on the chair out of frame!) was cheered up by adding a silk daisy scarf (from the sadly now closed Hexham scarf shop)
A 21st birthday necklace from my old Uni flat mates because they knew how much I liked daisychains! (sadly, CBC bought me a silver daisynecklace which is playing hide-and-seek I have lost!!!!!)
Cath Kidston sweetpea shoes sadly lack daisies, but I added these cute Accessorize hairgrips which the kids all kept picking at in Nursery today!  A daisychain headband makes a nice anklet!
Finally, the floral ring that I coerced CBC into buying for me during the Shoppingban!
 Closeup shot of skirt!
And my bunch of fake wildflowers that sit in the Portmerion pot on my table made a nice bouquet.

(I was aiming for this just to be a floral outfit, but if you count the following items seperately:
Hat, circlet, earrings, necklace, hairband on wrist 1, hairband on wrist 2, Pandora bracelet, Belt, skirt, dress, ring, anklet, shoes, hairgrip 1, hairgrip 2, handbag, scarf, this makes 17 floral items all in all.
If you count the hairgrips as 1, the hat and circlet as 1, and don't count the handbag and scarf, that makes 13.)

How was your day?!

If there was an outfit which was intrisically or ubiquitously you, what would it be?!?!!

Linking up to Lakota's Ta Dah! Tuesday as well, it feels a bit of a Tah dah day!
